Morning from a frosty S Hants, -1.
I’m sorry cornergran you have many troubles right now 🙁
Georgesgran we have a bike for our grandson coming on the 10th, MrJ has to clear space in ‘his’ shed!
May we have snow pictures please from those who have some, it’s a rare event here, 2018, beast from the east and we were in Françe.p, so missed it.
Sausage meat just out of the freezer, lots of stuffing to make on Saturday, my dad’s recipe.
I must verify a lunch booking for tomorrow, I'm taking our granddaughter out for a treat.

Good morning from a very cold and frosty Suffolk. I suspect the lanes around here will be icy after rain last night and freezing temperatures so I’ve decided not to venture out to my stretch class as I would need to leave in less than an hour.

I’ll accompany DH on the dog walk after breakfast and then have another peaceful day at home. Hope all stay warm and have the best day possible.

Georgesgran, my colleagues used to park in the disabled bays, leaving me no where to park, if I had been out at a meeting.
The school was at the top of a steep hill, surrounded by double yellow lines. It made life very difficult at time, for I was usually carrying heavy bags.
People do not see the impact of their thoughtlessness.

Marydoll Thu 20-Nov-25 08:02:06

Good morning all from acold Glasgow, where it is -1°C.

We have no Babydoll today, she is full of the cold and feeling cross and unwell. DS was concerned that she would pass it on to me and I would be unwell.
It never bothered me, when we looked after Dollie, but being immunocompromised means I cannot fight off bugs.
We really miss Babyd, and her take on life, but I'm not feeling to good either, so this unexpected respite is very welcome.
I want to be well enough to go to the meet up tomorrow, DH is worried that it will be too much for me and I have promised to be a good girl.
I have a plan. DH wanted me to get a taxi from the train station to the Concert Hall. Instead, I am getting the shuttle bus from the train station to the bus station, crossing the road and going in the back door. He is happy with that.

Al, the advice from family has fallen on deaf ears and I have been pushing myself too far lately. Today, I will potter about and catch up on things.
DH is going to shampoo the hall carpet, while I sort through Christmas presents,
After picking up my medication, I took myself off to Home Bargains, where it was unusually quiet.
As usual, I could not reach the shelves, why does DH only drink beers from inaccessible ones?
Home Bargains is the only store, which sells this Guinness export, hence my visit.

Usually in Home bargains, I must trail every aisle in case I miss a bargain, but I did what I had to do and got out.
I popped into Pavers and came out with a pair of boots, which I desperately needed, not,
A quick visit to TMaxx, pick up my medication in Asds and home,
DH was shocked, for I am usually out for hours.
The main reason was being unable to tolerate the cold.

Corner I hope you resolve your family issues .

As always best wishes to all our poorlies and their carers.💕

Good Morning from Durham where there’s been more overnight snow and it’s feeling -7. This small development is on top of quite an incline - never flooded, but lying snow is a different matter! Thankfully, I’ve no plans for today although DD1 said she’d drop off DGS2’s new bike, to be hidden in my garage until Christmas. I’m concerned about DD2 as her wheelchair doesn’t move on snow and she’s having problems with people (no blue badges) parking in the disabled bay at DGS2’s school. She has had to email school, in the hope of some action.

Best wishes to all. X

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 20-Nov-25 07:36:01

Morning all from a frozen West Oxfordshire. It is my month to park in the garage (we take it in turns) so I won’t have to scrape the ice off!

I am seeing an optometrist this morning. One of my eyes droops slightly and the other is swollen.

Afterwards I have a hair appointment for a cut and blow dry.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s very wintry and cold with snow on the ground
Sorry to hear about the family worries cornergran
I’ve a quieter day ahead, nothing specific to do but lots to keep me busy. Yesterday DH found some old boxes in the loft that we’d forgotten about, mainly filled with keepsakes and things from many years ago. So over the next few weeks I’ll need to go through them and decide if I’m keeping anything to pass onto future generations
Hoping all goes well on Saturday Ash
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. My other art group today and DH has an eye check up this afternoon I shall take the opportunity to do a bit more Christmas shopping.

Good morning Mick and everyone from frosty, dark Carlisle where it is -1°C.
I have postponed my pre-dawn walk as I can't tell whether the ground will be slippy or not. Maybe after lunch.

Yesterday was a morning of cleaning and an afternoon of writing and re-visiting my recent holiday by following the trip on Google Earth to refresh my memories. A holiday is already booked for next year, I got a Black Friday deal which seemed a good one. Nice to look forward to when it's wintry outside.

Today, the ironing then possibly some baking and a little appliance maintenance, has to be done sometime! Plus, I have a book to finish. And I still haven't actionated the new weights!

And wishing you all a good day.

Redcar Thu 20-Nov-25 07:21:00

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s getting light, clear sky and freezing cold again. I didn’t go to yoga yesterday, I didn’t want to make my back ache more than it already does. I did walk round to the post office in the afternoon, and was pleased that I was faster than the last time I did it! If it’s dry I’ll walk this morning.
I need to start driving again, but still finding it painful to twist round. I’ll wait another week.
Most of my Christmas shopping so far is being done online, so more packages arriving today I hope!
cornergran sorry you’re having more worries. flowers
aldom I hope your son in law can sort out your internet connection soon. I have a list of things for one of my sons in law to do when he next visits (hopefully at the weekend).

Thinking of those who are struggling in any way.
Have as good a day as is possible everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, cold and sunny today

I started on a walk yesterday and turned around to come back home, too cold on older lungs for breathing deeply up hills. Self-preservation is my mantra

My welsh wool blanket came out of storage for bedtime, I always top my wool duvet with that when the outside temperature is low. I sleep better with that system, it ensures that I don`t feel any coolness on my back

My sil has simply had enough of teaching in a big school with a bullying headmaster, who has stopped communication from union to staff. Sil is such a good teacher, been teaching over 20 years, a top science teacher with high standards. Three from his department have left already. He is leaving teaching in a few weeks because of this bully

Cosy day for me today, I will be sitting in the sun indoors

Have a good day

Good morning Mick, morning all from frosty South Lanarkshire.

Cornergran thanks

We’re childminding today in Edinburgh instead of yesterday which means chivvying the eldest to get ready for her dance class, not an easy task.
Although we aren’t actually needed till mid afternoon nursery pick up we will go across this morning to see what we can help with and also prepare the evening meal.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

kittylester Thu 20-Nov-25 07:05:53

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire where Alexa tells me that it -1°.

We hit the shops yesterday and got quite a bit of the list ticked off.

Today is more of the same after DH comes back from the gym. Sainbury's delivery at tea time.

Have the best day possibke, everyone.

Greyduster Thu 20-Nov-25 07:02:54

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is at freezing point outside at the moment here in South Yorkshire and will only reach two at around ten o’clock when I am supposed to be walking. I am not keen, frankly but today is my SiL’s birthday and as I usually have lunch with DD on Thursday, I will take his birthday gift over. Later this afternoon I have to go and collect my new driving glasses.
Writer’s group was well attended and very productive yesterday. The subject was legacy. From there I went to see the GP about my troublesome hip. There was no-one in the waiting room but me. He has scheduled another X-ray before he decides on treatment.
Corner💐.

Have the best day you can folks.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Nov-25 06:55:02

Good morning from a chilly and dark S E Essex.

My cleaning fairies are here this morning 🧚🧚, unfortunately DH had forgotten and said yes to the flooring company (last bits) and the builders to sort out plinths in kitchen and hopefully start on the last bits that need glossing

I need some large potatoes for jacket potatoes for dinner. The 10yr old is here for a sleepover this evening, which means a snack at 4.30pm when he arrives so I need to go to M & S Food Hall.

Thinking of all our poorly GM friends 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from north yorkshire. My back porch sliding door was frozen solid, always a sign winter has arrived.
Overnight snow didnt happen, i was really looking forward to that! Just very cold.
Our house is fairly high up and at the edge of a tiny village so nothing to stop those freezing north western winds hitting us first. Oh well, it comes with the superb views across the fields towards the Dales and the North York moors on the other side and bitter cold is the pay off. However i managed to get a sizeable government grant toward installing a heatpump 2 yrs ago, when there was a massive government drive toward sustainable heating. And very little uptake apparently! Explanation being that most people were reluctant to face the upheaval of taking up floorboards, drilling holes in walls and ceilings etc. It was an upheaval but we coped and boy is the house toasty now. I still have my trusty woodburner always ready to go for when the temp drops below the point where the heat pump can't cope any more...but that hasn't happened yet...

Ashcombe Thu 20-Nov-25 06:48:50

Good morning from a very chilly Torbay, although we are free from snow.

I’m tired this morning from a demanding choir practice last night. This was our final one before the performance on Saturday, which I am looking forward to since we shall work with a professional orchestra and soloists.

Thinking of you cornergran. 💐

My lovely neighbour who looks after my flat when I’m away is coming for coffee this morning and to borrow some long gloves for a 20's themed weekend at the National Trust property where she volunteers.

A good day to you all! Keep warm! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Grandmabatty Thu 20-Nov-25 06:44:54

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. Cornergran💐 aldom sounds pretty but a nuisance about the internet. Bellasnana think of yesterday more as a 'recharging your batteries ' day.
Yesterday was very cold. The frost cover on the car had big chunks of ice on it. I did an hour in the school library. The depute head has bought some new books which I'll process on Friday. There was a class in working on writing - fine motor skills really - and one wee boy who has behaviour issues was desperate to show me his work. He's a wee soul. Back home, I made bread. Later I visited dd, Dsil and the boys for dgs2s birthday. He was a very happy boy. Dd is absolutely choked with the cold so I didn't outstay my welcome.
Today I have little planned except I'm going back to the school this afternoon for a reading event with dgs1's class. This morning I will potter about. I'm still in bed! I got up, put the heating on and the electric blanket and made a coffee and took it back to bed. Most unlike me but very pleasant. Have a good day all

Good morning from a dark and very cold Black Country.

Walking group walk today, so need to wear layers. Cafe stop half way round.

Still coughing hence up early!

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning Mick and everyone.
It's very cold here with a frost. I've just looked at the garden and in the darkness the grass is twinkling and sparkling, very pretty.
Still no internet connection. My son in law is coming to see if he can do anything. Otherwise it will be, once again, back to Talk Talk.
I also have a family member visiting.
My thoughts are with those who are worried, sad or facing illness.

Good morning from Malta where a partly cloudy day is forecast with a high of 22°C.

Had rather a wasted day yesterday as I couldn’t muster up any enthusiasm to get much done.

I slept badly as I was aware of the constant noise of the cat’s water fountain trickling away in the hall! These new gadgets make me laugh! I had many cats and dogs over the years all of whom were content to drink from a bowl!

I must go out today, partly because my lazy self needs some exercise, but also to get some cash out of the ATM.

Had a lovely FaceTime with DD2 last evening. She is very good about keeping in touch but oh how I miss her. It’s three years since I was over in the US visiting my girls.

I hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing.☀️

cornergran Thu 20-Nov-25 06:12:51

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry, cold corner of Somerset.

Still not on top form with little energy we’ll have a quiet day, indoors in the warm. More family worries have come along, a lot to think about.

Have the best day you can everyone.

grandMattie Thu 20-Nov-25 05:35:20

Good morning from Bristol where there seems to be a light frost.
Yesterday went well. The vicar commented to me that it seemed unlikely that there should be parts for the 50yo boiler. So we are facing months without heat. We moved a few pieces of furniture to get as many seats as possible in front of the radiant heater.
We were 18 attendees at the FAB cafe, all seemed content with the lack of heat be as they stayed for over 90 minutes! We had a new person come, in very quiet and scruffy looking. I spent time chatting to him and eventually discovered that he had just retired as a consultant gynaecologist! He seemed to have enjoyed himself; he used the hole puncher to make holes in the decorations that many of the others were cutting out; I attached string. I had printed the logos out on card, provided scissors and let them get on with it. Some cut just rectangles, others had a lovely time making all sorts of shapes!
In the afternoon,I went to my ladies’ group. The talk was about the various Gloucester regiments/battalions in WWI and he talked about various individuals who had been killed. Very interesting.
I went straight to one of my fellow conspirators to talk about the residents’ meeting today. Various management top-ish cheeses are coming together with someone from the contractors about redecorating the exterior of the estate. This has been postponed for three years. So naturally they want to start repainting next month! Outside decorating in the middle of winter??? Are they mad? As we have waited 3 years, what are a few more months? I hope enough attend to persuade them, but I suspect since they want to show how wonderful they are…
I trust everyone has a gentle day.
Carpe diem.
