Utbb, "Now me on the other hand"........
I'm sure that I would be feeling just the same as you!

Take care, I wish you and all our friends here, a peaceful new year. x

Wishing everyone in the kitchen a very happy and healthy New Year xx

My D who’s divorce was finalised just before Christmas has just phoned to say her ex got in touch today to tell her that he wanted her to know before he told their C that he proposed to his partner over Christmas.
He took her to New York for about the 6th time they have been for Christmas to do the deed.
My D isn’t at all bitter in spite of the absolute mess he left her in with two C with health problems which him leaving just exacerbated.
To make matters worse he then went to live several thousand miles away
Now me on the other hand……

Apart from not being able to get on GN this morning my biggest shock was the fact that the valve on my bedroom radiator has seized up on zero.
I don’t keep my bedroom hot, just warm but this morning it was freezing and walking out onto the landing was like getting off a plane when flying to warmer climes.
I haven’t had the chance for family to look at it yet before calling someone out so it will be a fan heater tonight.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 31-Dec-25 12:31:28

Wishing all in dear soops kitchen a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

I hope 2026 is kind to you and yours 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Wed 31-Dec-25 12:29:22

I guess Gransnet has been down. Missing the good morning thread.

Hello 👋 everyone, wonderful to see our dear Soop posting again!

Jaxjacky, I hope you can get a comfortable sleep, so sorry that you're in pain.
Grannygravy, I hope your medication helps soon, please take it easy. Hard, I know, you're such a livewire!
ITIKWYM, UsedToBeBlonde, I saw how the tone of your thread changed. Well done for starting various threads, I don't have the confidence for that these days!
Good to hear you're back at your classes, brook, enjoy your quiet Hogmanay with your DH.
I hope Grandmabatty's leg is healing well and not giving her pain.

I've had a busy day, up and out early to Mass, minus two degrees this morning and for most of the day. Home to washing/drying, organising the bedrooms, making lentil soup, organising the fridge and freezer for home made steak pie and trifle on New year's day.
DS1 is staying tonight, he and his friend are at a big game at our local football stadium this evening. They came in for cheeseboard before the game, didn't want anything else as they've booked hospitality. I'll be glad of his company tonight. The Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy are coming for lunch tomorrow, DS3 and lovely girlfriend will come for dinner on the first. So a nice couple of days with family visits, it's always good to see them and it keeps me busy.

Thinking of all with worries, illness or sorrow, wishing everyone all the very best for the New Year. 🙏🍷 TOYA, NNGB.

Quietly lounging in the corner 🤶🏻🎄

brook2704 Tue 30-Dec-25 20:28:20

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a gorgeous sunny day but very cold and icy up here in Inverness. I got back to the gym for a couple of classes and then went into town for a browse around the shops. I bought a couple of jumpers in the M&S sale but I’ve not tried them on yet so they might go back if they’re not suitable
Just seen soop posting on the other thread, so good to see her back.
I hope you’ve felt a bit brighter today Jax and taking it easy, you too GG
Well done nannytopsy 👍
No plans for Hogmanay, it’ll be a quiet one here just the two of us
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

utbb I think you were misunderstood and I agree with you. I too have been “slapped down” on another thread, so tend to stick to soop’s kitchen and the good morning thread!

Redcar Tue 30-Dec-25 19:55:25

Hello everyone. I’ve found soop on the other thread, good to see her posting again.
utbb I’m sorry you have been misunderstood on another thread.
nannytopsy well done for losing weight, I hope you won’t have to wait too long for your new hip!
jax I hope that you’ll soon feel more comfortable and be able to get around more easily.
It’s been cold again today, I have realised that sitting on a park bench chatting to dog walking friends for half an hour isn’t actually doing my back any good. I may change my walking time or just stop for a few minutes to say hello!
It’s already 1 degree outside and no doubt will get colder later.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Suki70 Tue 30-Dec-25 19:20:58

usedtobeblonde please don’t stop starting other threads. I thought you were totally misunderstood and completely agreed with you.

Jaxjacky Tue 30-Dec-25 19:07:25

soop is in Chat Hello Again.
Well done NannyTopsy that lamb sounds delicious, I’m sure your hip will be fined.
Another cold day, I was tired and needed more rest, still a little battered, I find sitting ‘ correctly’ uncomfortable.
Oh utbb always someone ready to pounce 😏
Enjoy your evening all.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 30-Dec-25 18:23:42

I have been very misunderstood on a thread I started today.
In future I shall stick to the kitchen, such kind and good friends who understand my little ways and foibles.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 30-Dec-25 18:21:30

soop has posted on a thread she started called hello again or similar.
Jax posted on Good morning .
I-had to check myself thinking I had missed things.

Nannytopsy Tue 30-Dec-25 18:17:21

Where has soop posted? How lovely! Where did Jax tell us about her dislocated hip? Is my Gransnet playing up - I have not seen either?

GrandmaC47 Tue 30-Dec-25 18:09:34

Delighted to see our dearSoop posting.

Redcar Mon 29-Dec-25 21:40:23

That’s encouraging jax take things carefully!
grannygravy no wonder you’re feeling fed up! I hope that some of the meds help you to feel better soon. It’s cold enough now, but getting colder as the week goes on apparently!! I think I’ll hibernate.
Night night everyone, sleep well and keep warm!

Nannytopsy Mon 29-Dec-25 19:15:32

Good luck Jax, I hope things go smoothly from now on!
I have been for my pre op today and I am at my lowest BMI ever!! 🥳 That should keep grumpy consultant happy! My hip will not be with me for much longer.
Our next event is a New Year’s Eve curry with friends. I am making raan, which involves a whole leg of lamb. 😋

Jaxjacky Mon 29-Dec-25 18:36:21

Oh GG13 not surprised you’re feeling down, I'm so sorry to hear that 💐
I’m been more awake today, heard back from consultant, keep going as before, carefully.
MrJ has been a star at my beck and call, true ❤️.
