Thank you as always to our treasured benefactor soop.
Hot chocolate and warm muffins await, cushions plumped and fire stoked.

GrannyGravy poor you. šŸ’ I hope you take things easy.
Tree is down and the decorations are away too. I'm happy to return to normal. The weather here is cold and dry and forecast to be even colder by New Year. My new jammies and slippers were delivered earlier ready for tonight. I shall cook duck breast in orange sauce for dinner later. A festive treat.
Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

Hi šŸ‘‹ Redcar yes it’s definitely chilly in our knack of the woods šŸ‘

Feeling sorry for myself, saw an excellent GP, urgent X-ray requested, two months on reducing dose of steroids, three months of COPD meds.

Not like me to be down in the dumps so I will sit in the quiet corner for a while.

Goodness it’s very quiet in the kitchen this afternoon, but very cold out! A cloudy day here again. I had a walk this morning, sitting chatting with dog walking friends, but got very chilled so came home.
Cleaned the bathroom and cloakroom, then started on the dining room. My DDs are taking me to my late godmother’s bungalow on Wednesday and then coming back to my house for a picky bits lunch. So I need to tidy the dining room first!
I got sidetracked by looking through my godmother’s photos, sadly I have no idea who some of the people are and there’s no one left who would know! I’m writing names on the backs of all my (hundreds of) photos!
I hope you’re feeling a little more comfortable today jax.
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner and those needing support and comfort and hoping that life will be kinder to you in the very near future.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

We're home now from the few days with DD & family in Cambridge. Seems quiet here after time with family & DGC. smile
Catching up with your news!
Sorry to hear of your setback, Jaxjacky, I do hope you are soon on the forward path again.
Enjoy your meet up with your son, brook.

Thinking of you all, especially our dear Mr&MrsSoop, & those of you with added worries. x

Oh, Jaxjacky, what an awful thing to happen. I hope the pain is manageable. You must be so disappointed. I hope tomorrow's call is helpful.

Utbb, I hope you feel better tomorrow too.

Jaxjacky Sun 28-Dec-25 16:20:35

Unlucky.

Jaxjacky Sun 28-Dec-25 16:12:50

Thank you, it was an insignificant move did it and was screaming agony, morphine and then fentanyl. It was manipulated back while I was sedated, now have a knee brace for a week to help hip,. I’ve spent a lot of today in bed, very tired and it’s comfortable, will call orthopaedics tomorrow.
I was very unlikely .

Yiayia4 Sun 28-Dec-25 16:04:56

Grandmabatty Sun 28-Dec-25 13:29:37

That is rotten Jaxjacky. I'm truly sorry for you.

cornergran Sun 28-Dec-25 13:23:19

Good luck jax. You must be more than disappointed.

Snap utbb, I know the cause with me - far too many treats that truly aren’t good for my system. Hope you feel better soon.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 28-Dec-25 11:34:00

Jaxjacky what an awful thing to happen.
So sorry for you.
I hope it is fixed quickly without too much trauma, it certainly hasn’t been straightforward for you.
I have felt under par since Christmas Day but at least I am ok really just generally tired and low.
Mine is just one of those things, yours is major.

Grannmarie Sun 28-Dec-25 11:06:34

Nannytopsy, hope all goes well for you tomorrow. šŸ’šŸ™

Grannmarie Sun 28-Dec-25 11:05:24

So sorry to read about your dislocated hip, Jaxjacky, hoping and praying that you can get good medical advice and back on your road to recovery. šŸ’šŸ™

I had a very busy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, great to see all the family. I had a jammies day on Boxing day, watching TV, reading my new book (Boleyn Traitor, Phillipa Gregory) and eating chocolate! Yesterday, DS1,DDIL1 and DGD came with cake, stayed for lunch then left DGD for her sleepover. She has decided that she's too big to sleep in the bunk beds and has set up camp in the guest room!🤣
We've just had scrambled eggs for brunch, now heading out to the nearest big retail park, her Christmas vouchers are burning a hole in her pocket!

Thinking of our dear Soops, wishing everyone a peaceful festive season. TOYA

Naughtyneine Sun 28-Dec-25 10:47:06

Oh Jax .. I'm so sorry to hear about your hip. I hope it's being sorted and you are not in too much pain. Did it just dislocated or had you bent down or turned over in bed? Sending you a gentle cwtch. X

Grandmabatty Sun 28-Dec-25 10:05:42

I would bind them with an egg and turn them into fritters/cakes and fry them. Maybe coat in breadcrumbs

yogitree Sun 28-Dec-25 09:52:27

Hello soop and friends. Wondering if anyone knows a recipe for using up potatoes, carrot and parsnip mash in a soup?

Nannytopsy Sun 28-Dec-25 00:13:43

Love it Maw! If I didn’t have a pre-op on Monday, that would be me! I need to keep on top of my BMI and could easily put on several pounds over Christmas. Monday night will be a different story!!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 27-Dec-25 22:36:47

Hello kitchen people!

Daughter has gone back - she slightly overlapped with granddaughter who is here until Wednesday. Her parents have gone to Scotland.

Film tomorrow, panto on Monday and shopping on Tuesday. That’s the plan. First thing tomorrow I will drive to Boots and speak to the pharmacist about my eyes. They are very watery and gummy again and I think I need stronger eyedrops.

Sleep šŸ’¤ tight everyone.

Grran Sat 27-Dec-25 22:20:54

Rosie’s Maw 🤣 me too 🤣

SueDonim Sat 27-Dec-25 21:44:19

Hello, everyone. I’ve time just to say that order is (somewhat) restored to our home now everyone has returned to their own places. It’s been lovely to see everyone and I think everyone had a good time.

I’ve started on the massive pile of laundry from the beds but there’s an awful lot else to do as well! For today, I’ve closed the door on it all and will look anew tomorrow or next week.

Take care, everyone! X

RosieandherMaw Sat 27-Dec-25 21:05:48

This might just sum me up gringrin

Blossoming Sat 27-Dec-25 19:24:11

Good evening kitchen pals, I have coped quite well with a couple of visits to family but the fatigue has knocked me for 6 tonight. I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas, TOYA xx
