Glad you enjoyed it Castle25

Is there a toiletry you can no longer buy and miss?
Thank you as always to our treasured benefactor soop.
Hot chocolate and warm muffins await, cushions plumped and fire stoked.
Glad you enjoyed it Castle25
Back home after a fantastic afternoon tea. Highly recommend it Grandmabatty Edinburgh was very dull this afternoon but luckily we missed the rain
Good afternoon kitchen folk. The weather here today has been dreich, so wet, gloomy and windy. I had a quick trip to aldi to stock up for the weekend. Dd popped in to collect her washing and borrow my kitchenaid. Then I went to the school library for an hour. So a productive morning. This afternoon I have pottered about. I've washed woollens and got them dried. I shall make a chicken and leek pie later. Tomorrow the boys are coming for a sleepover and I'll need all my strength for that! Enjoy your evening folks
I suggest a long hot soak with soda crystals (or bicarbonate of soda) and a certain well-known washing-up liquid, GrannyGravy. That might even work with synthetic fabrics. At first I assumed the shorts would be cotton but maybe not....
Grandmabatty the Witchery is lovely have been fortunate to go a couple of times. Will report back. What a lovely bracelet Blossoming. Today was spent asleep hopefully will manage a few more hours tonight
Good evening kitchen pals. It has been raining all day here, we put on waterproofs and wellies and had a walk around the dock, I have to get my fresh air! I was feeling creative this afternoon so I made this bracelet using polished hardwood beads with silver spacer beads. I’m pleased with the way it turned out.
Love as always to all who gather in this comforting place, especially dear Soop.
Thank you for the update squiffy I hope that something can be done to make soop more comfortable.
yiayia good news that your eyesight has improved so much. I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the other one to be done. I’m sorry that your DH’s scan has had to be postponed
and hope it goes ahead as planned on 2nd February.
I’ve been at DD1’s all day, keeping the dog company and then looking after the DGDs when they came home from school.
Despite wearing two jumpers I was still cold, I think the heating was set to 15 degrees, but I know how to turn it up now, so was able to warm up quite quickly.
grannygravy I hate trying to clean muddy clothes, DD1 went on an “outward bound” type of trip in the sixth form, one of the adventures she tried was crawling through muddy caves. There was no way I could get the mud out of her clothes and the whole lot, including underwear, went in the bin! I don’t think she even liked it much.
I think it may be an early night tonight, I was awake for hours in the middle of last night and I’m tired, although I’ve done nothing all day.
Thinking of all those in the quiet corner and those with difficulties to deal with.
Night night all.
Thank you, Squiffy, poor Soop, she's having a right time of it. Hope the doctors can help her. Thinking of MrSoop too. 💕🙏
Poor Jaxjacky too, what a shame, hoping you're home now and encounter no more problems.
Great news about your eye, YiaYia, that must feel wonderful! Fingers crossed 🤞 for your Mr's appointment.
Castle, enjoy the Witchery, sounds fab!
What a nice afternoon brook, and your DH is cooking, lucky you!
Grandmabatty, you sound more like yourself today, good for you! Your dinner sounds delicious, I love onion gravy.
This morning I went to my NHS Strength and balance class, lots of repetitive movements, then working legs and arms with resistance bands, quite hard work at times! But I feel it will be helpful. Then I met my friend for lunch at a garden centre in the Clyde Valley, usually a nice drive and beautiful scenery but today was too dull, cloudy and rainy. We had a good catch up, her health is improving slowly and she is okay for driving again so that is good for her mood.
Late afternoon I had my arm/ shoulder massage at my GP surgery, I always feel better after that. I'm being well served by the NHS on Thursdays, very thankful for that. Air fryer salmon and jacket potato with veg for dinner tonight. I need to stop making do with sandwiches or soup.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep. Thinking of FGTs and all in the quiet corner. TOYA.
Castle25 The Witchery is on my bucket. Have a lovely afternoon tea. Brook it sounds like you have had a very nice time.
I had a chiropodist appointment this morning then went to the school library for an hour. Then home to get some washing done and hoover. I feel as if I've achieved quite a bit. Dinner will be beef olives in onion gravy with potatoes. Have a good evening
I need more than stain remover, more like divine intervention…
Thank you for your update squiffy and for letting us all know - I hope Soop is much more comfortable soon
Good luck with the stain removal GG I know the feeling as whenever DD2 needs anything like that doing she passes it over to me
Hoping better news from Jax soon
I’m just home from meeting a group of lovely ladies at the local garden centre. Lots of chatter and laughter and setting the world to rights. Nothing much to do now for the rest of the evening as DH is making dinner, I’ll be watching the traitors later
Good news about your eye Yia but how frustrating about the delay with your DHs scan
Friday sounds lovely Castle25, I’ve walked past the Witchery many times but never been in
I have spent countless hours this week trying to get the 10yr olds white football shorts clean and mud stains removed.
He is currently playing football in the pouring rain wearing the very same shorts 🤦♀️
Unfortunately he has inherited some of my OCD traits, stains being his main one, like me.
Guess what I shall be doing in 10 minutes time 🧼🧽🧺
Thanks squiffy
Thank you squiffy.
Thank you for the update squiffy. Poor soop is in the wars at the moment. Jax I hope you get home today with some answers.
I’ve just had a mini-chat on the phone with Soop. It was brief, as talking set her cough off. She’s awaiting test results for the cough at the moment. She sends her love to all in The Kitchen and is thinking of you all.
Jaxjacky you are certainly having it rough you must be really fed up.
His hope scan goes ahead in February ,good news regarding your eye.
Hope Soop is comfortable ,
Baggs hope you Get ceiling sorted soon
Thinking of all having a bad time .
What rotten luck Jax hope you get home today.Sending love and healing thoughts.🌻
Thinking of our dear Soop and hope she is more comfortable.🌹
We are still waiting for DH to have his scan. The scanner in our local hospital is broken. He now has an appointment for the 2nd February!!
My eye is great, the best vision I’ve had since childhood,I go on Monday for post op and hope to be given a date for the second eye.
We have started to slowly let Spiros out,its nerve racking but he loves to be out and climbing trees,so far I’ve managed to get him in.🤞
Thinking of you all have a good day.
Jaxjacky how annoying and painful that you should dislocate your hip again. I hope the medical team have a plan to prevent it happening again. Another day with dgd, today was all about the music. She played the xylophone while grandad sang old macdonald. It was lovely to watch. Singing is her favourite thing. Lazy day tomorrow in preparation for day out in Edinburgh on Friday for afternoon tea at the Witchery
Oh Jax so sorry to hear the latest. Has surgery been discussed because from my professional experience that will probably be next.
Baggs could your ceiling not have chosen a warmer time of year to collapse and cause such stress? Thanks also for the update on soop. She is going through the wars and is not a complainer. I hope her GP can make her more comfortable.
I think we are all wishing January would produce a mini heatwave.
Please look after yourselves.
Hope your husbands pain continues to be manageable sued.
Oh heck jax. You must be more than fed up. Hope you get both answers and a solution to keep that hip where it needs to be.
New reading glasses have revolutionised my day. On the advice (instructions!) of the eye hospital I sat out the injection process. Finally given permission for an eye test I can read print again. The iPad has been superb to borrow e-books from our library but it’s so nice to be able to read a novel without eye strain and a lot of guessing. Who thought glasses would make anyone so happy?
Thinking of you all, particularly those facing challenges. Rest well everyone.
jaxjacky I’m so sorry to hear about your hip, you must be so fed up with it. I hope you’ll be home tomorrow, and recover quickly. Is there anything that can be done to stop it happening again?
sueD sorry to hear that your DH is in a lot of pain and hope that he can get some relief soon.
I went to yoga today, taking it very cautiously so as not to annoy my back. I really enjoyed it and the chat to the other participants afterwards. I didn’t even
mind walking home in the wind and rain afterwards!
Sending best wishes to all those in pain, or who are struggling in any way.
Night night everyone, sleep well.
Oh Jax poor you. I hope it stays in place from now on.
Pleased you DH got the right meds Sue.
Thinking of you all in the kitchen.
Sleep tight.
Jaxjacky - you too. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Prolonged ill health is so hard to cope with and I send my best wishes to soop , fgt , Yiayia , SueDonim , and anyone else I may have forgotten.
Would love to wave a magic wand for all kitcheners who are struggling - and there are quite a few right now.
Let’s keep hoping for better days ahead.
