Thank you as always to our treasured benefactor soop.
Hot chocolate and warm muffins await, cushions plumped and fire stoked.

I hope Brooke is enjoying her family visit.
I haven’t been out since New Year’s Day but fortunately I am not missing it at all.
Quite content to potter at home.

Nannytopsy if you are like 99% of people who have THR ,you will be very pleased you have had it done.
It is a few years now since I had mine and although well over 80 I made an excellent and quite quick recovery.
There are niggles of course, having to sleep on your back, always having to sit with your hips higher than your knees, constipation from the pain killers are just some.
However the grinding pain I had for months is no longer so all consuming and if you do your exercises and take your pain relief on time you should be fine.
I am so pleased I had that and my knee done.
I do hope though that any icy weather we get is over by the time you are ready for going out.

Have a lovely time in Cambridge brook.
Prune the roses, leave the house, apart from making things easier for when it’s done Nannytopsy - priorities!

gillgran Fri 16-Jan-26 11:39:50

Better weather here in Cambs., today, after lots of rain yesterday.

Enjoy your stay with family in Cambridge, brook.

Good to get a date for your hip op., Nannytopsy, don't worry too much about all those chores!!

Thinking of you all, & best wishes for all our poorly friends. x

Redcar Fri 16-Jan-26 07:39:05

nannytopsy, not long to wait, and no doubt there’ll be other pre-operation checks to fit in too! So a very busy time for you. Just do what you can and don’t worry about what you can’t do!

brook2704 Thu 15-Jan-26 23:41:16

Yes that’s right grandmabatty, the rescheduled one - I was lucky they could fit me in 🤣
I’m here now, DD1 picked me up from Luton and we enjoyed a nice chat on the drive back. I hardly get any time with her on her own these days but that’s understandable and I’m not complaining at all
Thank you Redcar
That’s not long to wait nannytopsy hoping all goes well x

Nannytopsy Thu 15-Jan-26 23:27:32

I had the phonecall today - hip replacement on January 30th. I’m in a bit of a panic now - I have the roses to prune and the house to clean before then and next week is really busy!

Castle25 Thu 15-Jan-26 22:28:25

Quiet day for me apart from playing taxi driver for dgd picking her up from childcare then taking her to my mums. She was staying there for tea with her dad. A quick chat with my mum so two birds one stone situation. Hope those feeling unwell are recovering

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Jan-26 20:52:42

Redcar ditto with the weather, rained all day!

Busy day, still not sleeping well.

Nighty Night 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Thu 15-Jan-26 20:45:27

I’m home now after a day of keeping my DD1’s dog company and looking after the grandchildren when they came home from school. DD2 collected them and I looked after her 7 year old while she did a quick Tesco shop. A really grim day weather wise, heavy rain and cold, it took me a while to get the house warm, but it felt quite cosy by the time DD2 and her DH came home from work. I may have to do it again next Thursday! It’s a lazy day for me, although I sometimes flick a duster about while I’m there.
I hope you have an easy journey to Cambridge brook and enjoy your visit to your DD1 and her family.
Well done for mastering your new phone grannmarie. I always struggle for a few days with new technology.
I hope that soop is feeling a little better today.
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner and in the sick bay, I hope you all sleep well tonight and have a better day tomorrow.
Night night all.

Grandmabatty Thu 15-Jan-26 19:24:06

Have a lovely time in Cambridge Brook. Is this your pre Christmas visit rescheduled?

brook2704 Thu 15-Jan-26 19:07:20

Thank you so much Tilly, Nanny and all, it’s just one of those things to put down to experience. The good news is that I’m feeling much better today and there’s an evening flight down to Luton so I’m off to spend the weekend with DD1 and family, it should give me the uplifting boost I need to get going again
Hoping our dearest soop is doing ok today ❤️
I’ve had a lazy day today too grandmabatty, just a bit of washing and doing crosswords and puzzles. I did a quick 5 minute walk around the garden to see if there were any signs of spring yet but couldn’t see any, probably far too early up here
Hoping everyone has a quiet restful evening, take care all x

Grandmabatty Thu 15-Jan-26 17:25:05

Good evening kitchen folk. I hope everyone is well. Special wishes to Soop and others who are unwell.
I've had a really lazy day today. I tidied up this morning and laced about this afternoon. I have been watching an Agatha Christie adaptation on Netflix, 7 dials mystery. It isn't the best but it wasn't one of her best novels. However it passes the time. Dinner will be chicken curry later and there will be more lounging before bed. In the words of Scarlet O'Hara, "tomorrow is another day. "
Have a good evening all

Charleygirl5 Thu 15-Jan-26 14:06:43

Baggs thanks for the update and you are certainly going to hell and back re your house.

I do hope soop feels marginally better soon, as she has more than enough to contend with a chest infection.

If any other OPD rings asking me if I have a carer, I will not be responsible for my words and actions. I realise at my advanced age, they probably think I am totally gaga, but I am not quite there yet.

TillyTrotter Thu 15-Jan-26 13:12:56

Brook I too am sorry your holiday was not the relaxing warm break away you hoped it would be.
My DSis always holidayed in Madeira in January and found the warm sunshine you hoped for. It’s disappointing when that is not the case.
You’ve got a lovely family weekend planned so pour your usual infectious enthusiasm into it.

Nannytopsy Wed 14-Jan-26 23:12:31

Brook I am sorry you had such a disappointing holiday - hope you are fully better soon.
Of course, much love and hugs to soop

cornergran Wed 14-Jan-26 22:51:21

Goodnight everyone. Hope you sleep well. Especially our soop who sounds to be far too poorly.

dragonfly46 Wed 14-Jan-26 22:49:54

Night night everyone sleep tight.

brook2704 Wed 14-Jan-26 21:53:21

Good you’ve got your new phone working ok grannmarie - always a hassle when switching over
Hope your back behaves tomorrow Redcar
I’ve just watched the Traitors, really enjoying it this time round

kittylester Wed 14-Jan-26 21:52:00

Grannmarie Wed 14-Jan-26 20:49:02

Hello đź‘‹ Redcar from my new phone! Sometimes I surprise myself... I hope your back eases up and you get a good night's sleep.

Redcar Wed 14-Jan-26 20:39:16

Thank you for the update baggs, I hope you’re managing without the boiler. Sorry to hear that soop is feeling awful and hope she recovers soon.
grandmabatty I watched the film this afternoon and thought it was really interesting. I like the picture you bought! I’m not in the slightest bit “arty” but both DDs studied art at university!

I overdid the back exercises this morning and am paying the price now. I’m at DD1’s tomorrow, keeping the dog company and looking after the grandchildren after school, so I hope my back is more comfortable in the morning.

grannmarie I hope you get your new phone working efficiently soon, always a bit of a worry when you change phones!
brook I hope you will soon be fully recovered from your holiday.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

Grannmarie Wed 14-Jan-26 20:27:00

Thank you for your update, Baggs, so sorry to hear that our Soop is unwell, and that you have domestic buggerations as our dear friend would say, hope things improve very soon for all concerned.

Grandmabatty, I watched the programme, I can see why it's won awards, beautifully filmed. What a very talented artist your tutor is. I thought you came across very well. Your enthusiasm for that enignatic painting was evident!

Brook, so sorry about your upset holiday and upset stomachs, what a shame. I hope you recover in good time to enjoy your family visit to Cambridge.

Jaxjacky, you're having a tough time, hope you're feeling a bit better soon.

Hello đź‘‹ Hulahoop and YiaYia, thank you both for your concern. I'm doing OK, I've been a bit down in the doldrums since New Year, but I'm starting to get back into some of my routines again. I took my friend to Mass and Coffee Morning today, normal service is being resumed!

I'm in the process of changing phones, I can't log in to GN on the new one, so I'm hopefully posting this from the old one...

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.
