Good Morning Saturday 22nd November 2025

Good morning. Dry and chilly here in Sussex but no frost.
Once we are showered and dressed we shall be waiting for our friends to join us for a hearty breakfast at our hotel and then spending today and tomorrow with them.
We don’t have any particular plans so will sort it out between us.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a damp chilly South Yorkshire. The house was unusually cold this morning so the CH will have all on to come up to temp. I managed to walk to school and back yesterday afternoon in lovely sunshine. It’s so wet today I won’t be venturing out at all - not on foot anyway. It will be a day to try and finish my wretched knitting. I may have a finished cardigan by Christmas - the jury is out!

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. The garden thermometer says it’s 2 degrees outside, still some frost on the rooves of the new houses at the end of the garden. They obviously have good insulation. Slightly less cold forecast for today, along with rain. I didn’t go for a walk yesterday, may go today, depending on the weather.
The 10 year old and her mum are at the Olympic swimming pool all day as the 10 year old is taking part in a swimming gala with her club and about 20 other clubs! The seven year old wants to go to her usual dance & drama class, so her dad will ferry her around!
rosieandhermaw enjoy sightseeing in Paris, I hope you get to see the restored Notre Dame.
I’m not sure if DD2 will visit today, I didn’t hear from her yesterday so I don’t know what her plans are.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and foggy. Yesterday I spent the day in bed, unusually for me. I was hoping to get rid of the cold but it's lingering still.
Today I will have to get some food and later go to dgs2s birthday party, at least for a wee while. My aunt and uncle have offered to take me so I think I'll take them up on their kind offer. Dinner will be soup as my appetite has gone. Have a good day all

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire.

I’ve ordered all the Christmas presents for my Australian relatives so hope to have them wrapped and posted by next weekend. My colonoscopy looms! There is a slight problem as the special laxatives have yet to arrive! If they’re not here by Monday I’ll have to drive to the hospital in Oxford and collect them.

There is a Christmas bazaar in the village today so I may go along. One of the stall holders prepares hyacinth bulbs which will bloom in time for Christmas.

Later today I will mix up the Christmas pudding mixture and leave it overnight ready for 8 hours steaming tomorrow. Stir up Sunday.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire. I was pleased to see that overnight rain has washed away the snow and ice, the pavements are safe once more.

The handful of us that managed to get together yesterday had a lovely, chatty afternoon in Glasgow. Always great seeing everyone.

Today we’re heading to Glasgow again to watch DGD1’s netball game.

Had a lovely lunch with 3 friends yesterday. We all volunteered for the Witness Service at the same time (about 100 years ago!!) and have remained friends since then.

Good morning, it’s a wet start here in south Glos, thankfully it’s warmer too, I genuinely struggle in the cold.
Yesterday was uneventful, housework and cooking- coq au vin and lemon cheesecake- so just vegetables to do for lunch. I’m really no looking forward to the visitors, I struggle with small talk being so deaf and I feel stupid when I mishear or don’t hear at all.
DH invited them so he can do the entertaining.
I slept badly so looking forward to the early dog walk to wake me up!

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp Carlisle.
Yesterday was bitterly cold and I curtailed my trip out. By the time I went for my lunch time dental appointment, the car windscreen had defrosted itself.
It was bad news at the dentist...I'd had a crown come off early in my holiday and thought I'd packed it away carefully but somehow I'd lost it during my journeyings, as I discovered early yesterday. No matter, the bad news was that he couldn't have replaced it anyway. It was a very old one that hadn't had root canal treatment and the roots had calcified. End result, another addition to my partial denture. I am going to have to look like a toothless old hag for a few days. Once I would have gone into purdah, now I just don't care and carry on as usual and don't think about it.

Today, an early trip to Sainsbury's to garner a few items and refuel the car then I might come home via the garden centre and garner some more pheasant at the deli.
Later, a chat with my sister and a minor job or two. Plus it might now be possible to get out and plant more crocuses, time is passing....

Good Morning from Durham, where there’s been heavy rain overnight. Dry now, still dark but the heating hasn’t come on, so it can’t be too cold.
A lovely day with DD1 in Harrogate yesterday, another tick off the present list. My hip/leg suffered later!
DD2 gets her new car today, she says it’s all in hand and she doesn’t need help.
I’m hoping for a quiet day and might sort out my Christmas cards.

Good morning from Malta where it seems winter has arrived at last! After yesterday’s 20°C, today’s high is only 13°C and it is raining.

I’m grateful to have a lovely, warm cat curled up on my legs as it feels decidedly chilly in here!

Went for my hairdo yesterday which I enjoy as my hairdresser is so lovely and easy to talk to. Also feel better wth my roots done. I know it’s a faff but I went grey in Covid and couldn’t wait to get it covered up.

I don’t think I will be going anywhere today if the weather continues to be wet, but I have plenty of jobs to do inside,

My son and his girlfriend return today from Amsterdam. I don’t want to give Winston back, I’ve so loved having him, however he will be back next month whilst they go to Bulgaria for ten days so I shall look forward to that.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark and quiet morning in North Yorkshire. Chilly but not as cold as yesterday, so hopefully it will stay like this.

I gave up trying to go back to sleep, and was listening to the birds on channel 9 on the tv. Dont know if you have it near you, but have discovered that they play bird song from I think it is 4,30 to 5,30, and found it quite soothing, as if nothing else stops me thinking of rather depressing things, and occasionally drift off to sleep again. Not today though.

Yesterday, I did some domestic things, washing up , making lists etc as it was too cold to go out safely. There was frost and the car looked covered in ice etc. So it was about 11am , before I thought it was safe to venture out. Decided that as it was bad underfoot that I would be safer on the buggy to go for various bits and pieces, and so set off. Well it went so slowly, and at first I thought it was just because of the cold and that it would wake up in a little while. But no such luck and it crawled around, most frustatingly , never improving speed all the way round. I had done various things and ended up at Tesco, where for once there were quite a few things in stock that I needed and so quite a big bag of stuff to get home. On the way home it got even slower if that was possible and I was worried that it would conk out on me witha heavy bag of shopping and the roads still icy and a bit treacherous, but I finally got home, lugged in the shopping and put the buggy on to charge. So today I shall have to see if it improves, but am rather afraid that it means that the batteries have had it and the cold weather got to it, as I have to keep it outside, but with a cover on it, so that sounds somewhat expensive, but really have no option, as I do need it, to keep independant. Ah well that is the way it goes, and being able to get around town, hang washing on the line etc is the important thing.

Today I will have to use the car and go and get bread and the paper etc, then I must resume the search for the elusive flanders and swann book and make more effort to find photos and various things that I need for my visit to the group on monday. Need to sort out the order of things and work out a general timetable, so that I have an idea of how long groups of songs take. It is a while since I have done this sort of thing, so havent got it all mapped out, and of course, no piano now does not help.

I gashed my thumb yesterday on a thorn from some roses that I had been given that I was changing their water etc. It was hard to get the thorn out and has been quite painful, but more annoyingly you realize how much you use your thumb for things as keep making it worse, typing and opening jars etc etc. Odd now something so small can be so irritating. Dont think a plaster would help matters either .

I did find my rather nice heart shaped red little bells decoration ready for the door, but I shall not be putting it out yet. We used to put decorations up the actual week of christmas, and I do rather think that having all the christmas lights up already in the town in November and some windows even before that , is rather a shame. I liked the anticipation of windows to be unveiled etc later on. Still I shall enjoy looking at lights in the evening, although with the cost of electricity now I am surprised at how long they are left on everywhere. Today need to check calendar and find all the stuff for the MOT which is due early december. I want to book it in with the garage I trust before they get too busy, and then while I am checking things just make sure that I am up to date with stuff like insurance etc, as it is easy to miss something the nearer we get to christmas. ~Also need to check on saturday commitments as want to meet up with the family one saturday, and now have Joshua s present ready.

Well time to get the coffee on and make a shopping list. It is still pitch black outside , cant even see the tree, so just hoping for at least a dry day here. Wishing you all a good and productive day

Good morning from Bristol, less cold than yesterday, rain promised all day.
My 1.75 mile walk to Spanish was absolutely lovely in the crisp, sunny air. The class was very good. We had a video of the 3 different XXth century phases of Spanish politics which was very interesting. It was because Franco had died 50 years ago. We are only 6 in the class and have yet to all be there together, but we tend to have a very satisfactory class each time. It helps that our teacher is happy to let the class drift down unexpected routes, as long as we have done our homework, and what he has (vaguely) planned for us.
Quiet afternoon, with a little sewing.
Church coffee somewhere this morning, the boiler has been condemned as it would cost over £25k to fix - for how long?
It’s DD’s 46th birthday today, I’m going for an early dinner. Iris is in her school play, Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, as a fairy and backstage. They are having a matinee and we are going to the final, evening show. Their productions are usually excellent, so it’ll be a good evening.

Didn’t get to Nuremberg as Mr PG had an attack of the gripes but was miraculously better when it came to our supper at the Bodnant Centre, scoffing three courses cos he missed lunch…🤦‍♀️
Good to hear it was a great film Blue Sapphire as I’m insisting on going next week!
