I sympathise with you Rosesandlilac.
I too am profoundly deaf. It is very annoying not to be able to join in conversations anymore. Do you wear bilateral hearing aids? I do but not of much use anymore in a crowd. I am due some new digital ones in the new year so hopefully life may become a bit easier.
My best wishes to you.flowers

What fantastic news, re. your DGD, Ash. You must be so proud of her!
Hope your Mass goes well.

Ashcombe

Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments about my DGD's ballet success. DH and I are already looking forward to seeing one of the performances next March at The Theatre Royal, Hanley.

Sorry - the ballet will be performed at The Regent Theatre, Stoke on Trent on 21st and 22nd March, 2026.

Good morning from a chilly W Kent. A quick visit to the local shops to get a proper box to put DD1’s presents in for posting asap. Otherwise I intend to sort out what I have bought so far and start packing it up before I buy anything else.
Difficult decisions about who to keep on the card list it definitely needs culling a bit
Congratulations to your GD Ashcombe
Best wishes

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton; a welcome day in for me; I can read the Saturday newspapers at leisure and catch up with some tv programmes. Meanwhile I am listening to a radio programme I missed in the week - thanks to Alexa!

Two dance classes yesterday morning, then a quick call in to M&S Food, and then got the.bus to town with some shoes to be returned. It meant getting another bus and I eventually got to the store, a garden centre with a large branch of Pavers in it. Shoes returned and refunded quickly.

Sadly they did not have them in a bigger size; I tried on some slippers while I was there but the ones in my usual size were all too big, and they had none smaller that I liked.
Had a browse around the garden centre which was full of Christmas stuff, then had a slice of lemon drizzle with a coffee.

Successfully.got the bus back to town centre then got my last bus back home - or so I thought......

An unexpected road closure meant that we all had to get off the bus as the driver phoned his office for instructions - he was told to turn round and return to town. Well, I wasn't doing that, I could have cried, it meant a 40 minute walk home. Luckily I was 15 minutes walk from DS's house, so I walked there and begged a lift. And thankfully I at last.reached home.

Today should be uneventful!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

How wonderful for your DGD Ashcombe.

Good morning from a damp S E Essex.

I finally gave in last night a popped a sleeping aid, consequently I didn’t wake until 8.30. Will read your news later once back from the Farm Shop and fresh fish shop (finally open I hope 🤞🏻)

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset.

No idea what we’ll do today other than the ironing has my name on it. . Need to be home for deliveries so no wandering out. You never know I might get to gift wrapping and Christmas card writing.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a much more pleasant South Lanarkshire this morning, I can see bright blue sky from my bed while enjoying my first cup of tea and a feeling that I may just slide down and have another snooze.

Another lovely afternoon yesterday catching up and chatting with fellow grans. When Grammaretto and I arrived at the Concert Hall we were surrounded by hordes of beautiful happy students in really gorgeous colourful graduation robes. We asked a couple of them who they were and found out that they were students graduating from the Glasgow School of Art, the girl we spoke to was a graduate in Architecture and she was so happy that it quite raised our spirits!

A sorting out day planned here, am slowly progressing in this plan.

Wishing everyone a good day whatever you are doing x

Good morning all from a damp but less cold Essex coast.
No plans today but our AGM at the yacht club tomorrow, it should be interesting.
Congratulations to your DGD Ash, what an achievement.
My DGD S has a passion for dancing but her ongoing problems with Asthma have put a stop to a lot of it.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend, best wishes to all xx

Good morning from a slightly warmer NE, snow disappeared overnight.
Had a lazy day yesterday, long telephone conversation with my friend in Cumbria during the morning.
I had been awake since 4.30 so slept for an hour on the sofa during the afternoon.
I decided to have a simple dinner, vegan fish fillet with salad, required very little effort to prepare.
DS, DIL and GD2 are going to visit this afternoon after they have been to Newcastle University open day.
I will prepare some mince and add dumplings, a proper winter meal served with mashed potato, carrots, sprouts and green beans.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning from a very wet and rainy Black Country. Such a contrast to yesterday where it was frosty, cold but sunny and dry!

Yesterday afternoon was spent with Mum as an audiologist came to visit, change tubes and said she had wax in her ears again!

No real plans to day, so a day in with some housework looms.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning from a dark damp northwest coast. Another quiet day yesterday, new battery in watch, bought some Christmas provisions and a FaceTime with flying DD in the south, back from Nigeria.

Tonight to a local Christmas production, sitting on the front row, which I like. My cold is leaving me but the residue is a cough, so I hope I don’t annoy anyone. If it gets too much I’ll leave.
Hope your concert goes well Ash and thrilling for your DGD!🌺

Marydoll mine too 😂

Many congratulations to your granddaughter Ashcombe what an accolade.

Marydoll Sat 22-Nov-25 08:13:25

Grandmabatty

Marydoll the party is 20 three and four year olds at soft play! It will be riotous and noisy. At least I won't have to entertain any of them. 😂

GMB, my idea of hell!! 🤣

Good morning from a damp looking Torbay.

DH and I hope to visit Notre Dame at some point so I’ll be interested to hear about your visit, RosieandherMaw.

How lovely that Iris is in the Shakespeare play, grandMattie! A perfect birthday treat for your DD.

I do feel for you, RosesandLilac as my late darling Dad became profoundly deaf as he aged and increasingly withdrew from conversations having been a very sociable person throughout his life.

My DGD, who is a keen ballet dancer, has just been accepted to dance in Coppelia with the English Youth Ballet next March. This will be the third time that she will have danced with them. Out of 50 dancers, three were offered scholarships and she is one of them! She is only 13 and was competing against girls up to the age of 18.

Today will be spent mostly rehearsing and performing Bach's B Minor Mass in a church in Torquay. We have professional singers and an orchestra so I am looking forward to it and hope I cope with a long day of singing!

Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning all and it’s a tad warmer here in Essex.

Today I’m going to DS2 ‘s for the weekend. Dd and DGD are coming too. DS1 is looking after his dad for the weekend.

We’ll be watching DGD 4 in Panto. Dick Whittington. We saw her in Peter Pan last year and it was excellent.

We are booked into a country pub for a meal this evening.
I’m looking forward to it all.

Enjoy your weekends , whatever you’re doing.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C, rain forecast. Alexa says it is foggy, DH says it isn't. She cannot be trusted.
I'm so glad the ice has gone, the station was treacherous yesterday, despite being gritted.

I've had little sleep, due to coughing all night and high pain levels.
I was so happy to see DH appear earlier with my customary cuppa and hot water bottles.1😍

What a great day out I had yesterday, meeting my fellow Glasgow grans.
My travel plans worked out perfectly.
There had been a problem earlier with the trains, but I managed to catch the fast train (four seats to myself) , stepped onto a bus, which stopped outside JL (how convenient 😉) , a wander around JL, half an hour in the Galleries, with some rests, then in the back door of the Concert Hall, to avoid the steep steps.
Entertaining company with lovely ladies. 💕

However, I was annoyed at Baubles, who proceeded to show me her bargains from the M&S sale. 😉
SALE, what sale?
Even if I had known, it would have been too far to walk for me. 😪

I totally forgot I had a Diocesan Safeguarding meeting today, until my friend messaged me. Bang goes my restful day.
Thankfully, I have done most of the parish admin, the website can wait, until I return.

Enjoy your day with your family, GM,

Hoping to hear from Blossoming and news of Mr Dragonfly,

GMB, enjoy the party, It is *Dollie's party today too, I won't be going, it's a pampering party for a group of ten year old girls. It would like being back in the classroom.🤣

Best wishes to all and have a pleasant Saturday.

Morning from a damp S Hants, light rain, 7 feels like 1, definitely warmer.
New phones delivered yesterday, kept me quiet last night sorting mine while MrJ was at bowls, I’d had a delightful lunch with our granddaughter, lots of laughter.
Today, newspaper and making stuffing, it’s my Dad’s recipe and very popular so seven trays will be in the freezer by tonight.
Roses I hope your lunch isn’t too tortuous, your visitors should be considerate.
Ekwa I have yet another tooth destined to part ways with my mouth at some point, I’m hanging on to it for now.

Good morning from s somerset, rain and dark skies all morning

My trip to dentist yesterday was very successful, my broken back tooth feels good now but nevertheless is hanging on by a thread, thanks to the protocols in the old days of drill, fill and amalgam. My siblings and I still remember the dentist`s name and we all now have problematic teeth

I decided today that I will be chopping any nuts that I use, no more whole almonds. It was a nut in my granola that did it

Susan, my son in law is also looking at jobs without stress, like your dh did. He has some excellent jobs being processed already. Another superb science teacher leaves the profession.

Today, all I have scheduled is to wash my floors and to label bits and bobs in my cupboard eg what is the bamix grinder and what is the bamix processor. I`ll` put the labels on the bottom and they won`t come off. While at it, I will do a bit of moving of equipment. I have space now due to slowly de-cluttering

My sewing, think pink, 13 day advent box arrived, I need to keep my mitts off and quickly shoved it under a bed out of sight. They are very hard to get hold of and the one I ordered for dil has also arrived in Glasgow. We are both very excited.

Onwards I go and very grateful to now have a comfortable mouth

Have a good day
