Morning Mick, morning All from a still soggy corner of Somerset.

Little movement here yesterday. Suspect today will be the same although I really must get to gift wrapping, something I enjoy and don’t usually avoid. The cards didn’t get my attention yesterday and it’s quite possible they won’t today.

Mr C is in a similar hearing position roses, it’s more than hard and very isolating.

Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very wet, chilly South Yorkshire. The CH is doing its best! Yesterday was a quiet day, relieved only by DD and the menfolk arriving unexpectedly with a picnic lunch, on their way to see a film in town. They stayed for a couple of hours and it was lovely to see them. I was going to go out and stretch my legs after that but it had started raining by then so it was back to the knitting.

I shall drive over to the gym this morning and then do a quick food shop on the way home. This afternoon I shall make soup and portion it up for the freezer.

Today is derby day here when our two football teams go head to head. C’mon you Blades! (Don’t tell GS I said that!!).

Have the best day you can, folks.

Bonjour à tous! 🇫🇷
Wonderful day in Paris yesterday, dry and very, very cold but we wandered past the Gare de l’Est and along the Canal St Martin with its lovely quirky shops, including a”died and gone to heaven” many- roomed bookshop where I could have sorted my entire Christmas list!
Lunch in a little typically French resto then back to the flat for a restorative cuppa and GS buried himself in the book he had bought.
Later we took the Metro down to Notre Dame and dodged the huge queue of tourists by attending Vespers in the cathedral.
What an experience! The volume of the organ was incredible. Lovely singing , bells and smells (well, no bells actually) and then SIL and I wandered round to look at the stunning restoration work. I said “no bells” but of course once outside they are deafening (“the bells, the bells Esmeralda”) and a wonderful sound.
Then a hot chocolate for GS and vin chaud for us and home for supper.
Today we are going to a Kandinsky exhibition then out to the suburbs for tea with my BIL’s ex-wife, her DH and D.
It is all quite special!
Wishing you all a pleasant day!

I did forget to say that*Ash* I was delighted to read about your DGD. What a very talented child. I have watched videos about ballet school and the intense competition. You must be so very proud

Morning, raining in S Hants,.
I am so sorry to hear that Sar and everything crossed the meeting on Wednesday provides some hope.
Yesterday I read the paper for most of the morning, putting off domestic chores, although towels were washing in the background.
I was supposed to be making stuffing, it’ll be done today, then I’ll go for a walk, so many glorious berries this mast season.
Special mince pies do cost more, an annual treat Mick and karma.

Good morning from Malta where the high today is 15°C with strong winds and the possibility of thundery showers. It looks sunny and cloudless at present however.

I had forgotten I was having the boys yesterday so was delighted when there was a knock on the door at around noon and a little voice answered my ‘Who’s there?’ with “Me!!”

They were both very sweet and good company although poor DGS2 never stopped coughing (asthma). It’s awful, you want to breathe for him.

They were picked up at 5pm, the same time that DS and his girlfriend arrived to collect the cat Winston. I was sad having to part with him but he will be back for ten days next month when they go to visit her family in Bulgaria.

This morning I need to give the living room floor a vacuum and going over with the steam mop before putting the winter rug down. It definitely feels cold indoors now.

Sorry to hear S is still so unwell Sar what a worry for you all.

Enjoy your concert today grandMattie and tomorrow’s, 🎶

Must get on as I intend to go to Mass after I have sorted the room.

Wishing a good day to you all.☀️

Good morning from a damp and windy Torbay.

Our concert was very successful and played to a most appreciative audience in a local church. Our conductor maintained his usual calm demeanour throughout rehearsal and performance which is a rare characteristic in my experience of gifted performers at such times. A very good orchestra supported the talented soloists and large choir. I was delighted to see two of my friends from Props in the audience.

I’m so sorry to hear about your DGD, Sar53, just at a time when she should be enjoying life to the full. Thinking of her and hoping she is more comfortable today.

Keep well and warm if possible. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Good morning from s somerset, showers all day today but a bright sky

I don`t wear a watch unless I have an appointment, but my body always tells me when to start prepping a meal and then when it is time for bed. I go up at around 9.30 and am tucked in by 10. I like being guided by the earth cycles and right now am being woken up at 6

The showers will start by 10 so, if the ground is not wet, then I will need to go for a walk before then. It does not bother me too much because I go up and down stairs a lot anyway and there is always my rebounder

My hm yoghurt will be ready by 10 but it can stand a little while longer and I have no other time constraints today. I need to finalise my ocado order for tomorrow and yesterday added de-luxe mince pies to my organic order, yes at that same price as Mick. Just six and I will freeze them. The days of making 40 are long gone

The last sock is now on the needles and will be finished today. I will pack each pair in tissue paper with a pretty, named sticker on each pack. Then I will make a final two pairs for myself in order to use up left-over wool. The last three pairs for gifting will be washed and gently blocked today and properly dried. I have had to pin a name onto each pair, to remember which sock belongs to whom. The sizes are specifically for each person, I use a special sock ruler for that

All in all, a relaxing and cosy day for me today, I suppose it is called hygge or just being comfortable in my skin and in my nest

Have a good day

Good morning, it’s piddling down here in south Glos, a sodden Sunday here I guess.
Well, my homemade coq au vin was an unmitigated disaster, I tried it on Friday and wasn’t sure but because I have a cold . I got DH to taste it first thing yesterday and he agreed, it was revolting. I had used a very fresh ingredients, well within their sell-by date and diligently followed the recipe so goodness knows why it went so wrong.
DH went off to the supermarket and bought a replacement so at least we had something to eat!
Lunch went quite well, I left DH to do all the talking and I hoped I made the right response when I was asked. Being profoundly deaf is so isolating, I do wear very good hearing aids but it’s progressively becoming harder and harder and I actively avoid social events as much as possible.
Today I don’t have anything planned except making a shepherds pie for dinner I think.
Wet walks for the dogs, they really don’t mind and they’ll have their waterproof coats on.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Good morning from the Essex coast.
Rain is forecast for much of the day but with it comes slightly milder weather.
We have our Yacht club AGM this morning then an afternoon of reading and watching TV.
My DGD S is very poorly again and has spent time in hospital this past week. DD1 and SIL are doing everything they can to make the house, and especially her room, as dust free as possible. Not always easy when there are five of you living in the house. They have a MDT meeting on Wednesday at the hospital when they are hoping for some positive news.
I hope you all have a lovely Sunday xx

Good Morning from Durham. It’s raining here, so I’ll make a cup of tea and bring it back to bed.
I have no plans for today, just more domestic chores. I’m enjoying my quiet weekend.
Will pop back and read the thread properly later.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a chilly, wet Bristol.
Yesterday was strange as the usual coffee and chat was cancelled due to the church being used for a rehearsal by a Bristol choir.
Instead, as I realised I didn’t have that much time to sort out my DGDs “lucky dip” Advent calendar, l looked for a pattern for scissor case.m the one I found was excellent, but I stupidly didn’t check the sizes. It used a piece of cloth 3ft x2 ft! Enormous for just a pair of dressmaking scissors. Another pattern used fabric the size of A4 and it as made in a trice. I now need to make an oven glove for Iris.
The birthday party consisted of an afternoon tea. Very pleasant. Then off to the play. It was very well done considering that all the actors were 12/13. Unfortunately, there was no sound system and many of the voices didn’t carry well, so one had to know the play to get the plot.
Today, church service in the warm hall, then another concert, this time run by my neighbour’s daughter. She is a professional singer and voice coach, . The concert is with her pupils. I wouldn’t normally go, but he is inordinately proud of his daughter, and I am very fond of him.
I rarely go to concerts, but I have a third one on Monday, when DGD1 is singing with the Bristol Youth Choir at St. George’s. Three in a row!
May this Sunday be filled with grace and joy for you all.
