pub bans children after 7pm

Well, clearly the broadcast and printed media have been getting it wrong for decades. i was aware that there was much poverty in the area but was also aware, or so I thought, that there were also enclaves of new builds and old streets that were being bought and colonised by young city workers.

I thought Stratford had been gentrified for decades.

Stratford is in the borough of Newham which is one of the most deprived areas of London. Westfield was built there just before the Olympics and was supposed to bring more jobs to the area, unfortunately this hasn’t been the case and people commute in to work and shop there.
No, it isn’t gentrified or even on it’s way to becoming gentrified.

Stratford is on the way to gentrification, it already has Westfield with numerous upmarket shops.

The Royal Ballet is moving to the Olympic Park in a purpose built building, it has the permanent AbbA experience, along with many restaurants.

When someone told me they live in Walthamstow Village I burst out laughing! I came from just down the road and I don’t remember a ‘village’ in Walthamstow. Mind you when I saw the price of property there I did wonder why you would want to keep the name Walthamstow. Hipsters in Leyton, then it’ll be Stratford becoming posh, where will it end

Calling the oldest part of Walthamstow, by St Mary’s Church Walthamstow Village is a relatively recent thing.
Before that it was just part of Walthamstow albeit the oldest part.
All part of the gentrification of the area I guess.

We went to a restaurant in a village a mile away. It was an unpleasant experience not because of the children being there but their drunk parents.
The noise was unbearable the mess was unbelievable it took three staff to clean up the mess they made. This is a nice family owned business not a fast food joint. It was 8pm the children were running wild they were obviously bored. Their parents kept on drinking and not taking responsibility for their children.
The rather large family left the restaurant and then caused a fight with other people over taxis.
I can only assume this kind of behaviour is tolerated because businesses are struggling.

Ive had an idea! Why not allow families in pubs to eat and put the hard drinkers outside in the cold?

We should change that old adage "Children should be seen and not heard" to "Children should be neither seen nor heard".

I've always thought that children should only be allowed into pubs if aged 14 or over and eating a meal with adults over the legal drinking age whilst not being allowed to buy or consume alcohol themselves.

I hadn’t seen the Spar, so googled it. It’s like a Spar from a different dimension 😂

It is an actual Spar but selling things you might see in Daylesford Organics or Fortnum & Mason!

That must be it , the best bit of Walthamstow these days! I come from nearby so know what it’s like.
The places getting gentrified in London never cease to amaze me.

I guess the pub in question will decide whether it’s a good or bad idea, based on any change in its profits.
When I go out with DH or friends, I quite like a child free environment. When I go out with family or friends with children, it’s good to have somewhere to go.
