Good morning from Shropshire.A dry and sunny day forecast.

Yesterday didn’t turn out as planned.H woke up with a temperature of 39.1 so we took the children home and we looked after H while DD and DGD went to the cinema.I spent a couple of hours with my DD’s FIL discussing Tuesday’s funeral.I feel very nervous about reading but am telling myself it is the last thing I am doing for her.
DD2 phoned in the afternoon and we had a good chat.

Today we are putting up the Christmas decorations.Early for us but a busy few weeks leading up to Christmas so today it is.

Thinking of Marydoll and praying that she recovers very soon🙏🏻

Safe travels Pantglas✈️

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Still dark, I am in bed trying not to wake DH. I would love a cup of tea, but theGC are still asleep and I do not want to wake them.

They want to help me decorate the house today, so that is the plan. They have requested pancakes and fruit for breakfast. I will make that, then DH will cook our full English

Roast Chicken for dinner, I think it’s going to be a busy day of organised chaos 😹😹😹

Marydoll rest and more rest 😘

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very chilly South Yorkshire where the sun is coming up in a clear sky. Apart from one bathroom break I slept well last night. No more dizzy spells🤞🏻. There was a strange disconcerting rumbling noise this morning (no not my digestive system!)🧐. Didn’t seem to be inside the house and I’ll inspect the outside later!

DS didn’t make it down here yesterday. DiL is not well and he didn’t want to leave her. I wouldn’t have expected him to. He is trying for next weekend instead. I made scones, gave my kitchen a good clean (it looked very seasonal with all the flour I had thrown around) and settled down with a book. It was not a day for going out. We had a long chat on the phone last night.

I am expecting DD and SiL sometime this afternoon for a meal - times are amorphous as usual.

Have the best day you can folks.

Good Morning from Durham, where it feels like -6. It’s forecast to be sunny but windy, an improvement on yesterday, which was just dire with hours of torrential rain. I ended up with both DGSs here, which they enjoyed, although it was Bedlam.
DGS1 is still asleep, he has a swimming lesson at 9.45, then we’re a bit undecided, as we’ll have to stay at his house tonight, so I can get him to school on time on Monday. I think we’ll just play it by ear.
I’m sending special thoughts to Marydoll who is so unwell.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Malta where a high of 17°C is forecast with scattered showers.

It was lovely and sunny yesterday so I walked up to the village and sat outside to enjoy a cappuccino. All the tables inside were full. The Maltese consider this winter and too cold to sit out, but it really was pleasant.

I then went to M&S foods to have a look. Everything seems overpriced , including the mince pies, so I had no trouble resisting temptation and just bought two small quiches to put in the freezer.

Bon voyage Pantglas, I will have to Google Cape Verde; geography was never my strong point!😂

What a busy day grandMattie, and you too karma.

I’m also dithering about whether I can be bothered to get the tree out. I haven’t decorated for the past three years mainly because now I live in a smaller place, there just isn’t enough space for it, especially when the boys are here.

Very sorry to hear our poor Marydoll is so unwell again. 😞

Mass this morning, (I always pray for all Gransnet friends) then my weekly FaceTime chat with my pal in Leicester.

Wishing you all a good Sunday.☀️

Good morning from a rather frosty Torbay .

The church fair went quite well with a steady stream of customers for Santa Claus for which I was collecting the money. I shall find out how much we made this morning.

We had revellers in the park opposite and in the road yesterday evening. They were young teens fuelled by alcohol although I wasn’t aware of their presence until my neighbour texted me. She had rung the police because she was so concerned. Naturally, they didn’t come. It was after midnight before they finally dispersed.

Thinking of Marydoll and others who are unwell. Safe journey to Pantglas and a blessed Advent Sunday to you all. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

Good morning from a very chilly Essex coast.
Yesterday we went to watch DH'S eldest DGS play rugby for his school. It was cold and very muddy but a good game and they won.
At lunchtime today we are going to help put up Christmas decorations at the club.
I hope MD feels better soon 💐.
Enjoy Sunday whatever you may find yourselves doing, best wishes to all xx

Good morning, it’s frosty here in south Glos, at least it’s dry for once 😊
There’s a Christmas fair and lights switch on in the village from 12 to 7, DH says he’s going but goodness knows what he’ll find to do all afternoon there as the lights won’t go on until 5. He says he’s going for the whole afternoon so I’m going to find something nice to either watch on tv or to listen to. I will get on with my crocheting which is going rather well.
Bigger dog didn’t want her early walk yesterday so tiddler and I happily took off without her……..then DH said she changed her mind and so he caught up with us by taking a shortcut, silly dog.
I finished tidying my kitchen cupboards yesterday, very pleased with myself and glad it’s done.
I could do with working my way through the rest of the house now so that’s the plan, doing a bit each day.
I have no idea what I’m cooking for dinner tonight, if DH isn’t here it will be a jacket potato with some salad, it definitely won’t be anything needing much work!
Lazy me.
I do hope Marydoll, and anyone else who’s poorly, start feeling better very soon 🌹

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry, chilly corner of Somerset.

A broken night, never mind, nothing I need a brain for today.

Our pared down conservatory Christmas decorations came out yesterday. Yes, I know it’s early but my instinct was for more light out there at night and now we have it. The bulky pre-lit tree usually taking centre stage was welcomed by a charity to use in a display. Getting it in and out of the loft had become a challenge too far. Instead there is an array of pre-lit shapes and small trees along the long window ledge, the conservatory runs the width of our bungalow, much easier and can all be stored ‘downstairs’. It really cheered me when darkness came.

Today we’re wandering to a Christmas fair, not much else on the agenda other than letting the washing machine do its stuff and unearthing a Christmas themed jigsaw for Mr C. It here - somewhere! .

My thoughts go to everyone managing worries, illness and pressure of any kind.

Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Good morning from cold sunny s somerset

Today I will be making a proper effort to clear my dining table from paperwork and patterns, any excuse not to do it.

I have to clear the dining table before I can start to assemble the skirt pattern and the fabric for the skirt is over the back of a chair, I need to prewash that today. I will need to whip up the waist to hip section in calico first, no elastic so it needs to be a good fit.

Yesterday I deliberately started two more knitting wips, I wanted several different projects for winter and now I have four wips all set up and in their own knitting bags but first I need to give my knitting fingers a break

I am dithering about my tree, I didn`t put it up last year and am not sure this year, I can make my room cheerful and cosy without all that faff. Its a lovely scandi wooden tree for hanging lots of ornaments but the very thought of packing and boxing once again is putting me off

MD strong feisty and determined. Sending my wishes and supportive energy

At some stage today, I will get myself outside and at least go and see the decorations in town. There will be a good atmosphere and several stalls

Have a good day

Good morning Mick and all from a Premier Inn near the airport where I’m all exited for my last sunshine 🌞 jolly of the year - Cape Verde no less! I’ve been awake so long I could’ve joined the 3am thread!

Had a message from my dad (who gallivanted to Goa earlier this month) saying…Another holiday? Pot, kettle, black are words I didn’t use in my reply…😉

Hope yesterday wasn’t too tough a day Kalu and your memories made you smile more than sad 🤗. 💐 for all (too many) with challenges, your own and loved ones x

A difficult decision Gingster but as others have said, and I know from selling Mi Casa last year, we move on in life and our wants change too (I bawled like a baby actually 😭- so much for sensible words eh!)

A peaceful Sunday for all 🙏

Good morning, Mick!
Thanks so much for starting this thread each morning.
The new prelit Christmas tree was unpacked and assembled by DGD and was approved of by DD.
Slow cooked beef today with veggy alternative for DD
DH working on accounts for inheritance tax planning.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning from a dry Bristol. We did have a little rain yesterday but not in the expected amounts.
The FAB cafe wasn’t well attended; I think people were worries about the rain, and also the temperatures in church. It wasn’t too bad in both cases.
Our 95 year old was very touched by my card to him. I think he has no offspring, and is widowed, so can be pretty lonely. He has some very nice neighbours.
In the afternoon, I went to the concert by my neighbour’s daughter’s pupils. There were 12 youngsters singing, from about 10-17ish. The older ones were very good, the two boys in particular. My upstairs neighbour’s grandson was one.
I volunteered to serve the drinks afterwards. The old boy is very slow and would never have managed to serve everyone, and the teacher was busy chatting with the parents so wouldn’t have been able to do either properly.
Today, there is a church “big breakfast” between the two services. I’m not going as that sort of thing isn’t my cup of tea. I have offered my preserves for the croissants.
This afternoon, I’ll arrange the foliage for Advent posies and deliver them.
I have heard from MD, who is feeling very unwell with a bad chest infection. Pray for her please, those who do pray.
My lov3 to those who have any sort of problem.
Carpe diem 🦩🦤🦩🦩🦩
