My charity shop bargain, I’m loving it! What are you chuffed with?

My local charity shops are a rich source of everything !
I have a much treasured vase .
I've bought so many wonderful books .
I've bought some beautiful Christmas decorations to hang in the garden on trees and to use for church decorations.
I've also found some incredible pieces of costume jewellery and they are presents for friends .
I'd bought a red , splashy patterned Boden dress for Christmas day and a black sequin one from Phase Eight for a party .
I found some Grinch themed green pyjamas which are so comfortable.

And so it goes on ...

The trick is not to get too carried away !

I like buying cookery books from charity shops, usually hardbacks to replace old favourites that are falling apart.

My best buy so far is my mason & cash egg holder, £3 and as new. Her name is Henrietta! 😀😀

The other way you can buy from charity shops is online. The British Heart Foundation have their own shop on Ebay. They sell electrical appliances that have been electrically tested for safety. Most are second hand but some are ex-display items, unwanted gifts or items donated by shops. I've bought an almost new Ninja air fryer to replace my old one (less than half price), a brand new ceramic "hot" brush that is still sold by retailers (1/3 new price) and a new KitchenAid pasta attachment for my son (less than half price).
I look regularly at newly listed items to see if there is anything exciting and am currently looking for a cordless vacuum cleaner.

I found a lovely butter dish in our local Age UK charity shop. Set me back all of £1.50 and is even nicer than the one it replaced. Makes me happy even now!

Best was 15 years ago when I found a lovely big cuddly toy dog in absolutely pristine condition. Later learned how much it was worth when heard about Jellycat toys. I paid £3. Still have the toy.

Not at a shop but a jumble sale, my youngest daughter aged about 3 saw a Fisher Price pull along Snoopy dog, it was only a few pence so I got it for her. When my eldest daughter who was 18, came in from work her eyes lit up reminiscing about her Snoopy from when she was a toddler, she picked it up and turned it over and lo and behold her name was written on the bottom. She was so happy to see her old friend, I wonder how many kids had had pleasure from that old toy before it came back to us.

butterandjam what a lovely story. I'm glad you bought the beautiful table cloth because you obviously value the work that went into creating such an heirloom. You will treasure it as it deserves.
I have a friend who embroiders the names and dates of her children and grandchildren who have worn the christening gown she made for her own children. That is also, white on white.

My best ever charity shop bargain was a long red woollen ‘Christmas’ coat. Really smart, cosy and well admired. £4 on the charity shop sale rail x

I bought only last week a 100% Cashmere Limited Collection M & S top for £4! Wow, I was delighted with it and worn every day since, sleeves are three quarters and would have been great to be full length but can't moan at that price. So warm and soft, in a dove grey and really enjoying wearing with a blouse underneath.

Two weeks bought a pair of Pavers short boots with fur rim, like new for £4, well I live in town known for cheap living, my husband says I am cheap to run!

My best buy is a beautiful tall dark green case for £2. Unlike the clear crystal vases, you can hardly see the stems.

I recently found an original Jean Muir in the local charity shop, perfect condition for under £10!

I had the same vase years ago. Sadly it got broken, think I got it in John Lewis and it was quite expensive! My charity shop bargain is a Dualit toaster for £10. Its a large chrome one & was in VGC. The lady who worked in the shop asked me if £10 was ok as she could reduce it. I think she thought it was a load of old junk. Gosh no!

I have some brilliant charity shop buys including a brand new unused electric blanket for £5 and a pair of knee length Ugg type boots which looked unworn for £30, plus a brand new bottle of perfume for £20. An identical one was listed on Ebay for £68. In fact all my clothes come from charity shops.

I'm absolutely thrilled with x2 recent Charity Shop purchases too. I paid fair market rate for a beautiful cashmere jumper which benefits a hospice then I found a black and white fleece style jacket with revers - fab and both have been much admired.

I never find anything in charity shops, apart from books that is, must be too fussy??

I have sent some very good items to Charity shops but never yet picked anything decent up.
That may be because I hardly ever go on one.
No particular reason , It just doesn’t occur to me.
We have just one where we live and it smells of old buildings.
Damp plaster and possibly dry rot, very off putting.

Not from a charity shop, but loads of bargains from car boot sales.
About 20 years ago a pair of brand new Timberland leather walking boots, they have since been on holidays, many dog walks and are super grippy when the weather is bad. All for £8!

Another more recent one was a Ghost black maxi dress, still with label on it, which I looked at but put back as I thought it would be too expensive. My husband presented me with it when we got back to the car, he was so proud to have paid £3 for it 😄

In 1987 when our eldest was 2 we took our car for an MOT, opposite the garage was a scout hut having a jumble sale. Mr HNBC spotted a big Tonka truck and a toy Range Rover for DS for a princely sum of 50p. DS loved them so much that he used to take them to bed with him. DS is 40 this month and our grandchildren now have the joy of playing with them.

Someone once told me that if I wanted to buy from a charity shop, I should go to one in a different town. That way, if you buy clothes, you’re not likely to bump into the person who donated it! They also said that, the ‘posher’ the shops were, the better quality the clothes are! Makes sense I suppose.

I was out with a friend once when she was wearing a pair of black trousers I had donated.
They were quite recognisable.
She did always tell us that she shopped in charity shops and she had some lovely handbags she had discovered.

I buy almost all of my clothes in charity shops and have done for many years.
They also sell new goods and I’ve bought 15 little Christmas presents, each costing about £5.

I bought an M&S quilted jacket from Oxfam.

I have enough Knick knacks so am always on the lookout for good quality clothing. And bags.
