Good Morning Saturday 6th December 2025

Good morning everyone from a wet mid Essex. Yesterday was a bright and chilly day, windy and wet late afternoon and evening. DD2 drove me to DD1’s for my day of dog sitting, which was kind of her. We stopped at the local garden centre for me to get a few things and for her to get some lights for the large fir tree in her front garden.
The dog had an upset tummy and was feeling very sorry for herself. A lazy day for me until the 10 year old came home from school, a bit later we had to collect her sister from an after school club.
DD1 and her DH were at their office Christmas lunch, but were a bit later back than I expected. My son in law brought me home, and I had a quiet evening.

A showery day is forecast, I may go out for a walk, if I can go in between showers. I have a long ‘to do’ list of small tasks which will hopefully make the house tidier.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a damp-looking Carlisle. Rain due later, I'm sure.

I hope your trip is good Mick and not spoilt by the weather.

I had to go into town yesterday to collect the prescription for my mouth which is still painful especially at this time of day. I'm fed up ((no pun intended!) with soft food.
I did a little christmas shopping whilst I was there, principally in Hotel Chocolat where I treated myself as well....though I need chocolate like I need a hole in the head!
I also treated myself to the first mince pie of the season when I went for a coffee.
In the afternoon, I worked some calories off by getting the rest of my crocuses into the lawn. I have noticed that the some of the ones planted last year are already up, by some 4cm.

Today, I'm out again, to Sainsbury's and then off to the local butcher and deli in search of pheasant, the latter a DS1 request for when he visits shortly.
Later, the writing of cards and the wrapping of presents. I'm no good at the latter, DH used to do it beautifully and I miss that help every year.
After that, I might get a sit down to read the papers and do my puzzles....

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, pouring with rain; thank goodness I don't have to go out in it.

Just a normal sort of day yesterday: morning dance classes followed by coffee with a fellow dancer. Home to a quiet afternoon of reading, knitting.

Today will be about moving furniture to make a place for the Christmas tree to go. It doesn't seem five minutes since I was doing the same last year! Planning on putting the tree up tomorrow.

Good morning from a dark and damp Black Country, where I think it rained overnight.

Our trip to Worcester Christmas market didn't go to plan. Boarded train, then after a few minutes announcement said it was terminating at Kidderminster! Problems on line near Worcester. After almost 30 mins of waiting the next one was cancelled. We thought it wasn't worth waiting 40 mins for the next one, so went back. Then to friends house, where we drove over to Bridgnorth. Hope I can get my money back for the two tickets, but won't hold my breath.

No real plans today except for housework.

Good morning all. 7deg. and mainly dry in Glasgow today.

Today is farmers market day at a local church which is within walking distance to which, if the weather holds, my cousin and I plan to have some exercise and a look at what’s on offer at the market. Hairdressers later this afternoon with another trim needed as my hair grows annoyingly, far too quickly.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. No rain at the moment but I don’t think it’s far away.

Last night’s Michael Bublé tribute was very good. The swing band was excellent and ‘Michael’ had a great voice. He didn’t take himself too seriously and was funny between songs. The mainly female, Prosecco fuelled audience were giein it laldy. Translates as ‘enthusiastically joining in with the chorus’.

It’s Angel Drop day today so I’ll have to be down in the town early to help with tying the bagged angels onto railings and benches. We’ll treat ourselves to breakfast in a cafe afterwards.

Good morning from a saturated hillside in south Glos, driving down any of the lanes from here is like navigating a fast flowing stream. I’ve never seen so many springs emerging from the hills as we have now; one lane is 6” deep in fast flowing spring water.
I enjoyed art group yesterday, we have a lot of chatting and it’s nice to get out of the house. It bucketed down all afternoon, the dogs were actually reluctant to go out but we did a short loop around the houses.
My crocheting is growing slowly, I enjoy the rhythm of it and I can listen to an audiobook or podcast at the same time.
There’s pheasant shooting locally today, bigger dog will be able to retreat to my craft room and I’ll probably do some art stuff to keep her company; tiddler won’t take any notice of the guns, bless her.
No idea what we’re eating today, I need to rummage in the freezer when I get up. I might make a casserole for tomorrow if I can find some braising beef. I quite fancy dumplings.

Good morning from Malta where we are promised a fine day with a high of 17°C and a strong wind.

The storm gods were here doing their thing as well yesterday, Ashcombe! They have turned a lot of roads on the island into rivers!

I managed to dodge the deluge when I went for my hair but did have to drive through heavy rain to babysit the boys in the evening. Fortunately it’s only a five minute drive as I don’t like driving in the dark let alone with the wipers going full pelt!😰

The boys were great company, they really are loving little boys and make my heart so full. What a blessing they are.

I didn’t get to bed until after 1am and slept until 7.20, when I woke feeling very discombobulated and thinking it was Sunday. 🤦🏼‍♀️

DD1 in DC has had to have a new heating/cooling system in her small condo as the old one packed up. It is costing the princely sum of $13,500 to replace!😨.

No idea what I’m doing today as I’m still drinking my tea and contemplating life.(DD3 just texted to say DGS2 woke up calling for me. 🥰)

I seem to have developed a pain in the top of my left foot which was making walking to school and back very uncomfortable yesterday. I will rest it this weekend and hope it improves. DS is coming down this morning and lunch out is booked for later. I will ask him to go into the loft and bring down my Christmas tree and other bits and pieces - better get on with it and show willing I suppose! Grumpy old hag, me!

Good morning Mick and all from a dark fenland Cambridgeshire. I have woken early worrying about a few family issues.

Yesterday was such a busy day spent Christmas shopping with DD2 somewhere we don’t normally go but a successful enjoyable day.

Today will be a pottering stay at home day and hopefully get the Christmas decorations down from the loft.

I have a busy week next week and realised in the middle of the night I have a hair appointment at the same time as dgs2’s school nativity performance 🙈. I have to arrange my hair appointments months in advance and won’t get another before Christmas if I cancel!

Morning Mick, morning All from a seriously soggy corner of Somerset.

A good day yesterday other than the assault from coughs and sneezing on the coach. 🤞 we were deemed inadequate germ hosts. Felt for the driver navigating torrential rain on the return journey while relieved not our responsibility. A long day, worth it though.

After not too much sleep there is little planned for today other than a top up shop once I know if we’re feeding an extra or two tomorrow. I may even finish writing the cards.

Good morning from s somerset, rain again today

It was such a nice calming day yesterday. I did a full afternoon of sewing my shepherd skirt, very tricky in parts but me and my machine plodded on through thick and thin. I knitted most of the evening, had more impetus after seeing the prices of pure wool jumpers. My wool costs a lot but the results are worth it, for hobby time and a long-lasting lovely garment

Today will be very similar but without the walk, I will need to bounce instead, good for my bones and I put my stretch bands in plain sight and just a few pulls and lifts with those will help my strength. I don`t need to do all that when I am tending to my allotment

I dithered about getting my SAD lamp out, to be used at breakfast time but not really needed yet, however I will check that it is handy

Today I have the crucial waistband stage of sewing, if the waistband fits then the rest of the skirt will fit. TBH I like these patterns, the ones that stretch my sewing brain

Today, I need to potter first, get the main meal organised for lunch, chop the veg and so on. Might dust my bedroom quickly with just a fluffy glove, wipe down the toilets and washbasins. None of that is onerous

I have been awake since 3 am yet again, so annoying to get stomach pains during the night, I can cope better during the day.
DS and GD2 will visit this afternoon, will have to be a store cupboard meal as I wasn't able to shop this week.

We were joined by a young man in our Spanish class yesterday. He speaks good Spanish having lived in Madrid and Barcelona for the last 7 years, but is unsure of the grammar. A bit daunting for us, muddling along!
The hair salon went well. Curiously, both “clients” and the hairdresser arrived at the same time, during an icy shower.
Today, I’m off to church very early to dress the AgeUK/FAB cafe tree. We have the colourful logos of both organisations on coloured card. Cut out and used as decorations. Not sparkly but certainly advertising ourselves!
May/not stay for the coffee and chat if I have too long to wait. It’s really cold there without heating.
Mirabile dictu, Monday seems to be the day where Anchor is pulling out all the stops. We were told late yesterday - with a splendid amount of notice - that the (one year old) missing tiles were to be replaced, the malfunctioning alarms fixed, etc.! I’m not holding my breath.
Hope the weekend is kind to everyone, mountaineers and all, that MD had a satisfactory encounter with her GP,showing the battle axe side (😂), and everyone is safe and warm.

Good morning from a very windy Torbay following a wet day yesterday, culminating in a violent thunderstorm yesterday evening during our rehearsal! We must have angered the storm gods!!

A clean bill of dental health for now was welcome news yesterday morning. I managed a few errands (car wash, petrol fill up, etc) before a blood test to check on my sodium levels. (Regular readers might recall that low scores for that landed me in hospital for a week back in March). Result not yet available. ☹️

Today I’m going to hear a ladies' barbershop group sing at lunchtime, courtesy of a friend I made when singing in the Bach concert last month. She will return the favour next week by coming to watch It's A Wonderful Life!
