Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Haven't read through yet will catch up later.
Quiet day today although I may put the tree up but have started a new book so that may take preference.
Beef for dinner later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Good morning from a damp S E Essex.

Haven’t read your news as I have only just woken up (most unusual for me). I had such a wonderful day in London with my sister yesterday, the play was just fabulous. The acting was superb, and the ballet sequences brought a tear to our eyes (my sister was an en pointe ballerina when younger)

Followed by a really tasty meal, where we caught up, reminisced and made future plans. I so wish we lived closer, yet again we have promised to make time for us .

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday 🤶🎄

Good morning from a dry Suffolk where the ground is very spongy on the grass and muddy elsewhere. We had a very quiet, peaceful day yesterday with drama with the Waitrose delivery late in the afternoon.

The driver,a regular, backed off the drive and on to a very muddy, pot holed path where he got stuck. I made him a cup of tea whilst he tried to sort things out. Luckily the local garage have an excellent recovery service and arrived within an hour with a small 4 wheel drive vehicle and luckily a low loader.

Unable to pull the van out,it was loaded on tothe trailer and we last saw the Waitrose van sailing down the drive high up among the trees. J,the driver wasab,e to contact the next 2 customers about their late deliveries and they were ok.

How the DGSs ,when they were younger, would have loved the action!

DGD4 is 14 on Wednesday and DGS3 12 on the 17th so must sort out their presents before I start on the Christmas cards. Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning Mick and all from damp but dry-as-yet Carlisle. It's 8°C currently.
Yesterday, an early trip to Sainsbury's...not as early as usual as it's so dark so late in the morning and everyone is wearing dark clothes, though I'm guilty of that myself often enough.
Sainsbury's was busy busy with the workers hauling out racks and racks of christmas goodies.
After that it was south to my local butcher and deli store where I got my pheasant breasts plus a treat or two for me. Their christmas offerings are so tempting but not necessary for me, I'm not entertaining.
Back to wrap a few presents. Today will be card writing. I shall hope to go for a walk if rain holds off. The forecast for the week is dismal.
Other than that...find another book to read, there are plenty on my backlog.

Your surgery, Marydoll, can it get any worse?! Good luck, I hope they're wearing their steel helmets tomorrow!

Enjoy the day, people, if you can.

Oh Sar, how awful for your granddaughter. ♥️

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire.

I am off to London shortly. My daughter’s choir - London City Voices - are giving a concert. I am meeting her and elder son for lunch and the concert is at 4.30 pm.

Have a good day everyone. Thinking of the FGT2S.

brook2704 Sun 07-Dec-25 07:49:45

Good morning everyone from a dark, cold and wet Inverness
Well done to both your DDs karma
I really need to get on with housework and cleaning today then wrapping a few presents. First though I’ve my Sunday morning catch up with DS, yesterday he sent a picture of himself skiing in the mountains so I’ll find out where he’s been.
Such lovely Angels baubles well done to you and all the others involved
Good news for your DD harrigran I hope she settles in well to her new job next year
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Sun 07-Dec-25 07:46:55

Oh Sar.your poor granddaughter. 💐

Ashcombe Sun 07-Dec-25 07:44:28

Good morning from a wet Torbay - the sound of the rain and pain from my arthritic shoulder kept me awake in the night. Eventually, I took paracetamol and that helped me have a few more hours of sleep.

Yesterday afternoon, a new friend whom I made when we were both in the Bach concert, took me to hear her ladies' barbershop chorus. They were entertaining people at a local memory café. I am considering joining the chorus in the New Year.

Early service at church this morning and then our final rehearsal at the theatre this afternoon. Two days ago, one of the actors dropped out of the production but we have been lucky enough to replace her with a young woman who has already learned all of the lines!

A blessed Sunday to you all. Lovely angels, baubles!

Good morning from a less cold day on the Essex coast.
DH is off to rugby in an hour, an away game.
I shall potter until midday then drive to the club and DH will meet me there.
Football to watch when we get back.
S has been in and out of hospital these last few weeks and has been diagnosed with two other chronic illnesses as well as asthma.
I'm going to stay with them on Wednesday and so looking forward to going. DD1 is really struggling and S's ill health is having such an impact on all of them.
I hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday, best wishes to all xx

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark , still, morning in North Yorkshire. But at least cant hear any rain at the moment and it doesnt feel quite as cold, so hoping for a bit better day. I am having yet another creaking start to the day, but hoping with a bit of luck and some painkillers to get myself showered and dressed soon, as want to do a bit of basic housework stuff and then am going to go to a little christmas market in sowerby, which is on this morning, all local people at the stalls so not sure exactly what will be there, but a start to a christmasy feeling, which I hope will galvanise me into making more of an effort with christmas letters etc.

Yesterday, plodded around doing various bits and pieces, and had an early sandwich so that I got down to the village hall in the village for the Marie curie event. Glad I got there early so that I could get parked in the small carpark and not have to walk very far. It was all very well run and the ladies doing the coffees and mince pies and running the stalls all wearing their bright yellow Marie Cure tops. I was glad to see it was well attended, and I had raffle tickets for both the draw one with different prizes and then the lovely hamper one, which looked lovely. (I am assuming that I won nothing as no one rang me with the great news that I was the winner.) Anyway lots of goodies, home made jam and lemon curd, fresh cakes scones and biscuits, but no home made meringues to tempt me, and various christmassy decorations etc and books, so took me quite a while to look at all the stalls and fortunately went back to the christmassy one and found a treasure. Some lovely oak and slate plant labels, sturdy to put in the soil with the pen to write on the slate. A lady told me she was an RHS member like me and very keen gardener. Her husband who was not a carpenter, but had seen his grandad doing things a lot had found the oak wood and decided to have a go. They were really good and I said if he did any more I would be interested in buying them and she could contact me through the whist drive group. They would make a lovely present I think and for £5 a great find to be useful for a long time.

The sky is lightening just a little now and I can see the outline of the tree. So only plan to go to the little market and then home to enjoy radio 3 music and make an effort to do a bit of sorting out.

Glad your trip went well Mick, shame about the weather. Your tree looked good grandMattie, shame about the heating situation. I wonder if one of the other churches in your area could arrange for you to have at least a couple of your meetings in their warm rooms? We used to do things like that when necessary and when one church was being sort of restored for a long time it was organised so that that church had services in the afternoon after our one. Dont know if that would be possible or allowed or even wanted but just an idea. Pantglas how lucky to be having sunshine, as another birthday present and hope you enjoy the rest of the stay before returning to our rather gloomy weather.Karmalady you have got that skirt done in record time, well done. RoseandLilac hope you have a drier day today, and perhaps manage a nap later this morning.

Wishing everyone a calm and peaceful day

So only went to that, and not on to anything else as I was weary and there was so much needed sorting at home and I didnt feel up to doing much but read quite a lot of my Yorkshire post. The evening improved listening to the opera from New York so a good day really.

I love the angels baubles, what a lovely thing to do to cheer people in these dark winter days.

Marydoll Sun 07-Dec-25 07:32:55

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 9°C.

I have been wandering about since 4am. Those blooming steroids are wreaking havoc with my brain. Soup made, Sunday dinner prepped, cooker steam cleaned, sympathy cards written etc, etc, etc. I am exhausted!

Yesterday's plans were demolished in an instant by the arrival of Antonette Kleptomaniac and DS2.
I had taken only one bite out of my breakfast, when I spotted DS' car. Where do you go when your wife has gone on a Girl Guide trip and left you holding the baby? Your mother's of course!

The doorbell rang again and I heard BabyD shouting Auntie, it was DD and SIL.
Eventually I told them to entertain themselves, I had my weekly meds to sort, have my injection, do the bulletin, wash my hair and the rest.
I cannot complain about seeing them, I love having them here.
The biggest joy of all, was when I saw DS, phone in hand, tinkering with the still broken coffee machine. He fixed it, where de Longhi had failed. DH was ecstatic and hopefully not as grumpy, now that he can get a coffee hit! 😉

At 1pm, I was still in my jammies, no hair washed and due to go out at 2pm. 🙈 BabyD had refused to go homecand insisted that *Gaga was making her lunch. ♥️
By the time I got to church I was rather late.
In the sacristy, I found the most beautiful Christmas card from an elderly parishioner. I hardly know the lady, but always try to help her as she struggles.
The sentiments inside brought a tear to my eye, they were so unexpected. One thinks that we are unappreciated, how wrong I was.

After going round locking up, I got to the church porch, to find part of the ceiling plaster had come down. It must have happened after Mass, thank goodness. What a mess. 😱
One hour later, the young sacristan and I had cleaned most of it. Of course, there was no sign of a priest!!!

The drug review fiasco continues. I realised I was running short of BP medication, but was sure I had ordered it. On checking, I found all nineteen meds have been blocked!1🤬
If I were to wait for the only available appointmentment, I would be more than a week without them. To make nutters more serious, I was told my BP is extremely high at present.
If I disappear from GN, just assume I am dead.
Today, I will prepare my very concise and scathing e-consult for tomorrow.

The trees, which should have gone up on Friday, are going up today. Consequently, DH will have our annual festive fallout. He is the most disorganised, untidy, fouterer, I have ever come across. 😉

Enjoy all your activities today and my very best wishes for all our mountaineers and their carers.

Kalu Sun 07-Dec-25 07:32:50

Good morning all. 8deg.and heavy rain is our forecast for today in Glasgow.

An indoor day foutering around with a choice of tasks if I feel industrious or alternatively have a lazy day once basic housework is done. Driving license to renew online.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday.

Grandmabatty Sun 07-Dec-25 07:31:48

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and drizzle. Baubles the angels are lovely and such a good idea. GrandMattie I like your tree.
Yesterday I bought some Christmas presents at the garden centre. They have a really good selection. Then home to do the housework. I inadvertently ordered another case of wine-honestly- and it arrived later. So everything is sorted for me to put up the tree.
Today I intend to nip to Next for more presents then spend the rest of the day doing the decorations and tree. I meant to write cards yesterday but that didn't happen. So card writing today and an ironing. Have a good day all.

Redcar Sun 07-Dec-25 07:27:14

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. I think it’s damp outside, rain forecast for the day and most of the week I think.
I didn’t go out yesterday, but had plenty to occupy me indoors. I changed the bedclothes, including the duvet cover, washed them and dried them in the tumble drier.
I started to put the decorations on the Christmas tree, but have left some for the DGDs to do if they come over today. I finished wrapping their presents, and some treats for the dog. Most others will have vouchers, so just need to get those.

I’m glad you have some sunshine pantglas please pack some in your case to bring home with you!

roses 2 hours sleep just isn’t enough is it, take it easy and have an early night! I did a little better as I had 4 hours, then woke at 3.00 and dozed until 7.00 when I got up. I was too warm and comfortable in bed to get up any earlier.

I need to get started on the Christmas cards - I’ve been saying that for about a week, so it’s crunch time now! I’ll need to clear space on the table first.

Thinking of those who are struggling, may Sunday bring some relief for you.

Have as good a day as possible everyone, stay dry!

Jaxjacky Sun 07-Dec-25 07:27:01

Thank you baubles they look smashing.

Good morning from a wet W Kent
Hopefully a quiet day today I will decorate the tree at some point
Love your Angels baubles
Best wishes

Good morning from N. Bucks where we are hoping the rain is not too bad as it is our ‘Dickens’ day. Stalls and entertainment.food and Christmas trees plus local shops all open. It is always a busy day.
We and our friends will be having a mooch around and then have a table booked for lunch. Then around to the church where I am singing in a choir as part of the entertainment.
All 3 of our DDs and families will be joining us there and afterwards for tea and cake at our house.
Thoughts with those who are poorly or troubled and a good day wished for all.

cornergran Sun 07-Dec-25 07:19:52

Those angels are wonderful baubles.

cornergran Sun 07-Dec-25 07:15:32

Morning Mick, morning All from a very wet corner of Somerset.

A day at home ahead, quiet until the new sofa arrives this afternoon, thankfully it will be fully encased in plastic.

This morning I may interfere with Mr C’s jigsaw, or finally get to sorting a couple of shelves which are all too handy in one of those I’ll put it there for now moments. That way there will be room for more grin. Some indoor exercise and exercises too, the joints are stiff.

Sounds an excellent birthday pantglas, please send some sunshine this way. It’s sorely missed here.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Sun 07-Dec-25 07:13:59

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and it’s going to be a wet day. DD is running the annual Percy Pud this morning and I could have wished for better weather for her and her friends.
DS came down yesterday and we had a lovely day. We went out to lunch and I had specifically asked for a table with leg room but we were stuck in a corner with hardly room to move. He’s a big lad and I’ve got a dicky leg. However, the food was very good and he’s never short of something to say. He fetched down my Christmas trees, put up the larger of the two in the conservatory and put the lights on it before he went home. I will spend some time today decorating it and deciding which of the other decorations I will bother with this year.
Today I shall do a small shop at Aldi, put petrol in the car and spend the rest of the day resting my painful foot. It feels slightly better this morning, but I haven’t been on it for very long so we’ll see when I try and wear my shoes.
Have the best day you can, folks.

The photos aren’t mine. The husband of one of our group is our photographer.

harrigran Sun 07-Dec-25 07:12:03

Good morning from a dark, dry NE,
Slept better, no pacing the floor during the night.
DS and GD visited yesterday afternoon after her voluntary work in the charity shop.
She took herself into the study and did her homework until dinner was ready, ate and returned to her homework.
At 9 pm she relocated to the music room and played the piano for an hour.
On Friday she had been to Leeds, a school shopping trip. Her sister is at Leeds university and met up with her too. She sent a video of GD2 playing a street piano.
Today I will dress the Christmas tree, green and gold this year. DS tried to volunteer GD and her friend to dress the tree but she has such a busy life it is not fair to make her travel the 45 minutes again today.
DD will be signing a contract tomorrow for a new job which will commence in February. I am so relieved that she left the previous one, the boss was awful. Her health suffered as a result.
Being at home for two months has allowed her to oversee the repair work after the water damage.
Thoughts are with poorly people.
