Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s raining hard, but I don’t think it’s windy yet. The worst of storm Bram will probably miss us 🤞.
Yesterday I had my usual walk, did the ironing and then finally started on the Christmas cards. I did about half of them and will do the rest today. I had a pile of post delivered at 5 o’clock yesterday, one of the cards had taken a week to arrive. Who knows when I’ll get another delivery, at the moment it seems to be once a week!
DD2 has to go into the office today, not a good morning to have to travel, but she has her office Christmas lunch today.
I’ll see my friend with dementia this afternoon.

grandmattie a shame that your DGD’s concert was poorly attended. Have a quiet day today after yesterday’s rushing around.

I hope your double booking works out cornergran and that you get to the coffee morning.

Have the best day possible everyone, I hope everyone stays safe in the wind and rain.

Good morning from a wet and windy Essex coast.
DH is off to London this morning to meet up with old work mates.
I have lots of things to finish up as I am off to see DD1 and family in Leamington tomorrow. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the girls and giving some support to DD1 as I know she has been very stressed lately, mainly because of S going into hospital so frequently.
My 10 year old DGD sings in a choir and we are going to her carol concert whilst I am there. Lots to look forward to.
Have a good day everyone and stay safe in the stormy weather, best wishes to all xx

Good morning from a dark wet and windy Cambridgeshire. I need to be up and out early as have to travel to get my hair cut and coloured. Hoping I will have time to call in M & S on route home. Today is also dgs2’s nativity play and I am sad not to be able to go but DH is going with DD2 and they will video him for me hopefully. DGS2 hasnt been well and missed lots of rehearsals and we are not sure if he will refuse to do it so 🤞🤞

It is also my Book Club Christmas meet up tonight. We have all read a different Christmas book of our choice and will enjoy a good get together.

Wishing a happy Tuesday to all. Life can be full of ups and downs but enjoy the best day possible 💐

Good morning! I’ve really come to like Gransnet – it’s nice to be able to talk to people who are at a similar stage of life. ☀️☀️☀️

Good Morning from Durham. It’s wild and wet outside, feeling cold too.
I’m off to see DGS1’s Christmas performance shortly, the usual half hour drive will be doubled, at least, thanks to rush hour. I must take painkillers for my leg today - it really doesn’t feel any better.
Early afternoon, I’ve a dental appointment. I fear it’s going to be bad news and expensive. Nothing I can do.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a very wet and windy Torbay following a stormy evening and night.

It didn’t deter our audience who turned up for our opening night. Our newest cast member, who stepped in last Thursday, fell over backstage and damaged her ankle! She was a real trooper, managing to keep going until the end, but in flat shoes! Thank you for all the good wishes yesterday.

How disappointing for your DGD's Choir but good that you were able to support and enjoy her company, grandMattie.

Out for lunch with the Props team today as our Christmas celebration.

Have a good day, everyone. Keep safe!

Morning Mick, ironing All from a wet and wild corner of Somerset.

We initially decided against the NT visit yesterday, it was pouring. A call from our goddaughter in which she mentioned the sun was shining in her part of East Anglia didn’t help! Miraculously the rain stopped about 11 so off we went. It was more than wet underfoot! After thoroughly enjoying our visit we were home before the rain began again.

I’ve double booked this morning. Muddled a rare development coffee morning date, arranged by ‘management’ , with a grocery delivery. As it involves going outside to the venue and folk won’t want to get wet I suspect attendance will be low. I’ll feel guilty if I’m not there, particularly as I encouraged ‘management’ to do it. May still make it, depends when the delivery arrives in the slot.

Today’s plan was to follow on with a late morning visit to the computer wizard then lunch in a museum cafe before carrying on to the big blue warehouse. We may abandon the latter depending on the weather. Motorways in very strong winds are not our favourite.

That was a busy one grandmattie with much to enjoy.

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all , stay safe if affected by the storm.

Good morning, a stormy one here on the hillside in south Glos too grandMattie, a very wet day ahead I guess.
Yesterday I spent some time doing odd jobs that I had been ignoring, including hanging the thermal linings on the patio door curtains, a fiddly job standing on steps but a pleasing result. I hunted out my tights too, I have a number of skirts and dresses that hang unworn in the wardrobe and I need to make a bit more effort not to pull on the same clothes all the time, I live in jeans and fleeces.
I started a painting on black paper, I was intending to use coloured pencils but the paper doesn’t have enough tooth so I’ll have a play with gouache and acrylic inks I think. Something very new to me!
I also want to try metallic watercolours on black paper too.
Little else planned except for the usual mundane daily stuff today.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from another damp and dark Black Country. At least it is mild.

5 mile walk yesterday, where after a while it was so mild I felt very hot! Very muddy underfoot though

Made a start on writing Christmas cards, though I am only sending to close family ie Children, grandchildren and Mum. The cost of postage is just too much now.

Off to Merry Hell Hill today, need a plug for my new phone as the one before doesn't fit the cable. Luckily I have a portable charger I have been able to use.

Then this afternoon meeting DGD2 after college for coffee/hot chocolate, so she can hand over Christmas cards, gifts and birthday card from DD to DS and family, for me to give DS next week when I meet him for lunch!

Thoughts to all those struggling especially FGT's Marydoll Dragonfly and anyone I may have missed.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and wet. The worst of the storm is further west at the moment and later. I hope everyone in its path are safe and dry. GrandMattie a very busy day for you yesterday but nice family moments too. Karma good neighbours are so worth it. I do like your top.
Yesterday was quietly busy. I pottered about in the morning, wrote some Christmas cards and tidied up. In the afternoon I worked in the school library where new shelves have been delivered and built. The plan for them involves moving stock so that's a job for January. Then I picked up the boys who both had a good day. When dgs2 was being picked up by his mummy, we saw what was probably a plane overhead but there was no engine noise. Dgs2 was so excited because he thought it was Santa. That age of innocence is just lovely.
Today I'll get the boys, give them breakfast then deposit them at school. My intention thereafter is to get a gift card from the restaurant near where I live as a present for Dsils parents then potter about and finish writing cards before I pick up the boys again. Have a good day all.

Good morning from Malta where we have a sunny day in store with a high of 21°C.

Had a lovely day with the boys and DD3 yesterday. As it was a Public Holiday, they came over and we went to the little local playground. There were a few other children there so we spent a happy time and I got chatting to some other grans.

Not much going on this morning, I need to swap my summer/winter clothes around and cull some of the things I never wear.

This afternoon a friend is picking me up and we are going to a Christmas market which will make a change.

Thinking of you all and hoping you have a good day.☀️

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very wet, mild South Yorkshire - 12 degrees outside. Nothing memorable happened yesterday - bought stamps at the post office in the next village and posted my cards, land called in the bakers next door which was busy as always. Then to Morrisons to pick up a few bits and pieces for a hamper of treats I’m making up for GS. Rest of the day was spent cooking and cleaning and I had a walk about three o’clock. School this afternoon which I shall have to drive to as it will be raining heavily.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning from stormy s somerset, a dark morning today, lights on in the house

It was a very good sewing day yesterday, I made a warm top plus a pop-over from the left-overs. I also cut out a warm drapey fine fabric for another shepherd skirt, to wear this winter.

I met my new neighbours outside, lovely people, we hit it off instantly and they are moving in today. The vibes were very good

Today I will be slightly lengthening and widening a pattern for a sweater dress and then cutting and sewing that, also in thick warm fabric. I did a hunt for my snag leggings, found them and will be warm in the coldest weather

Have a good day

Good morning from a stormy Bristol. It’s very mild though.
I had a very frenetic day yesterday. I had planned it carefully, hoping the engineer for the alarm system would come before I went out.
The best laid plans of mice and men - and all that. I was eating breakfast when DD (unusually) called. Was I free to hear DGD sing with the Bristol Youth Choir at a (very posh) local residential home’s own chapel at 5pm? Then dinner.
Lovely surprise, but I finished with WI at 4 pm, so needed to get home and catch my breath. Sorted.
At WI, I got another surprise phone call from DS. I asked if I could call him back when I got home. Yes? Right. Got home ,snorted myself out, spoke to DS but had to hang up to get my shoes on. Doorbell rang as I was lacing my shoes!
The concert was lovely though very badly attended. The kids must have been so disappointed. Apparently, “they” got the dates wrong, advertised for today; then advised at 430pm for a 5pm start, that it was on!
Dinner was rushed as Iris had to go to her St. John’s meeting. DGD was delightful and full of chat. She was really thrilled with the things she had from her lucky dip advent calendar and apparently Iris was too. Nice evening.
SiL starts his new job in Cardiff on Monday, and DS is off to India for Christmas. A friend is getting married and he really needs to sort out his money. He is about to lose a 5 figure sum because his ex-headmaster and the authorities are being refractive. He is even prepared to grease any palms to have it done!
Today is completely empty. Time to “just sits”!
Have a good day all. The fgts are especially close to my ❤️ heart, but you know that I pray for very many of you in need.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Wet and very windy here in Lancashire.
Off to town for coffee and a trip to Specsavers later on. Quite relieved there's no trees along the road into town. Last time it was very windy, one crashed down, nearly missing DD’s car.

mum2three Tue 09-Dec-25 05:34:08

As was forecast, it's wet and windy here in Lancashire. Hopefully, it will ease off a bit later. I'm tempted to go out with a hard brush and scrub the pavements while it's raining. Pavements used to get scrubbed, but no-one bothers now.
