Fortunately, pant has left me enough for tomorrow! 😂

Good morning all. Frosty in Glasgow this morning but more blue than grey skies with sunshine is a welcome change from the stormy days.

I received a moonpig delivery yesterday from DD2 and SiL in Australia. A red poinsettia and a card with her chosen message which had me filling up. That followed with a long FT chat pm for me am for her. What a blessing FT is, almost as good as being in the same room together.
I don’t have many gifts to buy and my C shopping is all done thankfully. This time of year is chaotic, trying to find a parking space, crowds frantically christmas shopping, I’m happy to avoid it all.
You sound upbeat Jax. Hope you have a swift recovery and home soon.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Late to the party, a busy bee here.

Dh got an upset tum - very unusual for him. Perhaps it’s the meds. No food for him which makes him cross.

I must buy more wrapping paper and finish off the present list. It seems never ending this year.

Bridge this afternoon and something light for tea.

Enjoy the time with your family Liberty.
Safe and trouble free journey home Sar.
Lovely biscuits GM.

Take care and keep well 🎄

Good morning from a frosty dry Co Armagh
Yesterday was a marathon of tasks , we set out early to deliver our saved newspapers to the animal hospital , they shred them for bedding the injured hedgehogs, ended up putting a wreath on our family grave
Shopping occurred in between , I had difficulty in shoving stuff in the freezer , but it is the makings of lots of tasty meals to vary my boring menu
A day in the house to tweak the battery lights , setting the timers properly is priority , and it will be a chance to complete the crochet on my hook at the moment ,
Thoughts with the poorly and the carers who give the time and empathy so needed when under par xx

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's to be the best weather of the week so I should make the most of it.

I said goodbye to my nice Australian Helper yesterday. She was such good company and a real motivator, which I need. She's off to Japan now for a few weeks.

I finished writing Christmas cards last night. Before that our U3A had our excellent lunch at the golf club with its picture windows.

I'm out again today so may have to throw out uneaten food in the fridge and clean the fridge.

What early risers some of you are and what hard workers!
I admire your craft skills and your patience with small children.

Hope everyone has a good day.

RosesandLilac Tue 16-Dec-25 09:01:30

Good morning, it’s grey and drizzling (does that mean it’s grizzling?) here and I have already walked tiddler.
DH is off to Aberfan, to visit the memorial which, apparently, he’s always wanted to do.
Bigger dog is out with the dog walker and I’m going to put some decorations up and carry on with my big tidy-up. There’s probably some washing to do too.
Best wishes to you all 🌹

GrannySomerset Tue 16-Dec-25 08:53:43

Like brook, I am laid low with some horrid bug which has produced a cough which seems to last all night long. I am trying not to share it with the village so not doing anything much but hoping that I will feel better by the weekend when I have a couple of social event which I don’t want to miss.

Well done, Marydoll, for reminding her enthusiastic amateurs of the importance of safe guarding; it may sound a bit nit picky but it really matters. Hope the hospitalised can see the lights of home soon and that everyone’s plans work out today.

luluaugust Tue 16-Dec-25 08:45:27

Good morning from W Kent where it is grey and overcast. I seem to have developed a bad knee overnight so am going to try not to be up and downstairs all day. A few things to finish off and a bed to make up for DB. The cleaner won’t be back until the end of the month so all down to me for now. We have had no postal delivery for days now I assume I haven’t missed them going on strike?
Enjoying all the pictures and Christmas goings on and thinking of those with a lot more than aches and pains to deal with

kittylester Tue 16-Dec-25 08:41:54

Good morning all from a soggy and grey North Leicestershire.

Because I am trying to avoid bugs, I am missing our last choir session and party today. I have also decided to avoid the theatre on Saturday. DH and I were going to see The Sound of Music with DGD3. Her mum is going in my place.

Im very fed uppy, as DS1 used to say.

Today, my excitement consists of posting DH's Chrustmas cards and taking one to the florist for the scouts to deliver.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Tue 16-Dec-25 08:41:50

Good morning all from a foggy Glasgow, where it is only 1^C.

I can bake almost anything, but my gingerbread biscuits are always a big fail!
Your biscuits look great, GM

Bella, my husband loved your crib!

I'm sorry to hear your news dragonfly, but you must be relieved, that a proper care package will be put in place.💐

Yesterday was truly awful. I am that woman, who scuppered the parish fundraising video.
I raised a number of Safeguarding concerns, refused to put the video online, insisting that we remove from Facebook. Where is should never have been posted in the first place.
I am a pariah, but I don't care!
The Social Committee have been very frosty towards me. Tough!
They are so ingenious and naive and I am the villain of the piece. They have no conception of the consequences of posting it.

The woman, who made the video, would not accept my advice went to the Diocesan Office and the clergy to try and prove me wrong.
She underestimated my expertise and strong relationship with the high heid yins.😉
I received a copy of the response to her from the Diocesan Office, applauding me for my diligence and thanking me for everything I do in Safeguarding and that anything she planned to do, should be run by me.
Then I got a supportive and kind text message from the Safeguarding Advisor, signed with a 💗

As well as all the other issues, there is a photo of my husband and DIL in church on the video. If her parents see it, all hell will let loose.
They think we have indoctrinated her..
My husband is fuming, he never gave permission for the photo to be taken or even worse uploaded.
I was in a terrible state over it, as was DIL, who has a very fragile relationship with her family. We have worked so hard to mend bridge😪s
Of course, I could not state why I needed it removed. It was thought I was just being awkward.

Today, I'm rushing to Silverburn M&S S food hall and picking up a parcel. In White Stuff.
It feels so good to be able to drive again.
I feel a bit better, but still have the cough, breathlessness and of course the elephant legs!!
On my return, DH has surprised me by booking lunch at the golf club, The menu looks delicious.

I have more to do, regarding the Safeguarding issues and have a social Committee meeting tonight. I am hurt that no has supported me and am afraid, I may tell them exactly what I think of their behaviour!!😉
The committee members have been blinded by their enthusiasm and desire to raise money.
Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults takes priority. Lecture over!!

I wish you all the best of days, whatever your plans.
Thoughts are with our mountaineers and carers, including my DH.
He has had to put up with a lot these days. 💕

hollysteers Tue 16-Dec-25 08:37:44

Good morning from a dry and dark northwest coast.
Carried on with cards yesterday and popped into town for bits and pieces, it was teeming down, very miserable. With or without Christmas festivities, the lights do help this grim time of year.

Music club this afternoon. I’ve been away and missed a couple of meetings. I’m out of practice and will have a warble this morning. Xmas songs to be chosen. I’m not taking Xmas cards, too many to do and I don’t want to miss anyone out.
Thoughts to dragonfly jaxjacky FGTs and all🌺🎄

brook2704 Tue 16-Dec-25 08:33:44

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light and looks like a clear sky
Lovely festive biscuits gMattie
Thank you Jax ❤️ I do hope you get home today if possible. I’m still suffering from this bad coughing virus so will be staying in again today and not doing anything. I’m hoping that it improves enough so that I can go to DD1s on Friday so I’m doing everything I can to look after myself until then
Safe travels to your DH Ash, Sar and everyone else on the move today
dragonfly hope things improve very soon for your DH
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

GrannyGravy13 Tue 16-Dec-25 08:31:22

Good morning, I have been AWOL since Saturday, have had a house full of relatives and yesterday DS3 and I went up to London for the day to the old Battersea Power Station, which is now a shopaholic’s paradise, with numerous bars and restaurants. Outside there was an ice skating rink and Christmas fair.

We came back on an Uber boat along the trams to Tower Bridge, and wondered along the German Christmas Market. A most wonderful mother and son day.

Will try to catch up with all your news 🎄🤶

glammagran Tue 16-Dec-25 08:19:05

Good morning from an incredibly dark and gloomy Wiltshire.

School pickup was dire yesterday. It poured down for the 3rd week running. Had to put all our coats in the tumble dryer as the kids had to have an early tea and be ready for the school carol concert (held in the church next door to their school). They were very quarrelsome too.

I hope your little twins are feeling much better today
Bellasnana.

Pantsglas I’m afraid you’d be very disappointed by tonight’s offering for dinner. It’s pasta with a jar of Scala pasta sauce stirred through it with mushrooms on the side.

I hope Jax is well on the road to recovery. I hadn’t realised her thr was as a result of falling on wet leaves and had assumed it had been planned.

I’ll go back and read the postings now. Have a good day everyone.

WhiteSwan63 Tue 16-Dec-25 08:16:04

Happy birthday to you DD GrannyIvy

Good morning all from a damp and dark Black country.
Yesterday rain was nonstop today should be a little better.
Hairdressers this morning then perhaps a quick trip to the garden centre there are a few bits I want from the deli.
grandMattie those biscuits look lovely I'm sure they will disappear very quickly.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Liberty Tue 16-Dec-25 07:58:09

Good morning from a dry and dull Suffolk which seems to be getting chillier by the day.

I’m off shortly to visit my dear friend in hospital and then for a pedicure where L will fill me in on all the local gossip.

DD1 and family from North Somerset, recently moved from Bristol, are coming for a couple of days as we won’t see them at Christmas itself. Both our sons in law are Consultants,1 in Intensive Care and the other in A&E,both families living in opposite sides of the country 200 miles away from us.

Both are working over the actual festive period. They say that,as their children are now teenagers, apart from 1 DGD,they think members of their teams with young children should have first pick of these days off.

We were touched that DGS1,who had planned to go to London with some friends is coming too as he really wants to see us.

Madeleine your mention of Muker has brought back very happy memories of holidays we spent there, actually Thwaite, over last 55 years until recently when we no longer drive long distances.

Hope today is a positive one for everyone.

Ashcombe Tue 16-Dec-25 07:51:26

Not expecting goodies, Jaxjacky, as he only carries a rucksack for essentials. When we go over next month in my car, I shall definitely load up with the odd wine box or three! 🍷🥂🍾

dragonfly46 Tue 16-Dec-25 07:50:22

Good morning from dark Leicestershire.
Sadly DH is not coming home today. They have to put a package of carers and physios before he can come home.

With carers coming in 4x a day, physios and family here it is going to be pretty busy but I can’t complain as the NHS has been amazing.

Great to see to see you improving so well Jaxjacky and thoughts with Marydoll, the FGTs and all those struggling.

GrannyIvy Tue 16-Dec-25 07:45:13

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where another wet day.

Today is DD1’s 46th birthday where have those years gone. We went to see the theatre performance of A sound of Music together at the Curve in Leicester on Sunday. It was so good definitely worth seeing a spectacular performance.

Today I need to go and buy wreaths for my parents and grandparents graves which I will visit with my sister on Saturday. We always go together and then on to a lunch and catch up before she flies to sunnier climes for Christmas.

Those gingerbread men and trees look delicious GM and all that marmalade too.

Take care everyone and have the best day possible 🎄

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Dec-25 07:35:19

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks grey and damp outside.

I finally finished the cards yesterday. One pile to post and the other for OH to hand deliver locally. The Guides used to do it for a small fee, but they disbanded. I am waiting for a couple more presents to be delivered and that should be everything.

We are buying the tree today. I will decorate it while OH is at his shooting club.

Have a good day everyone. Thinking of the FGT2S and others with difficulties.

Sar53 Tue 16-Dec-25 07:31:22

Good morning from another wet one in Leamington. I've had a lovely time with everyone but going home later this morning.
Last night DD1 and I went out for an early dinner before listening to E singing with her choir in Warwick.
A beautiful concert with some amazing voices.
This morning I shall be watching E sing in her school carol service.
I have a very sore, dry throat so I don't think I'll be joining in much.
I haven't read all your news yet so I'll go back and do that now.
Best wishes to everyone for a good day xx

Jaxjacky Tue 16-Dec-25 07:29:17

Morning from a dark S Hants, it’s raining.
Not much going on here, MrJ visited last night, I hope to be home tomorrow at latest, I’d prefer today.
Lovely biscuits gMattie very colourful, good of Pant to help out.
Safe journey to oldudders Ash, will he have goodies?
Hope brook isn’t too poorly and the FGT’s having good days.

NannyJan53 Tue 16-Dec-25 07:25:36

Good morning from a damp but not raining at the moment, Black Country.

An annoying day yesterday. Arrived at Mums by 10.30 ready for the Carer to arrive as it could have been anytime between 11am and 2.pm. No-one arrived. Brother and SIL had the contact details and it took ages to speak to the right person. Massive apologies admin error! Doesn't inspire confidence does it?

So I missed my Walking Group Christmas meal which was annoying. I took the chance to tidy cupboards and drawers in Mums bedroom, and found a school report of my Dad's from 1934 and his Service Book from 1946!

Today I am meeting a new friend from Walking Group for coffee in the cafe in the park. MrJ's cycle group are going on a Christmas ride, where they decorate the bikes.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

cornergran Tue 16-Dec-25 07:22:45

Morning Mick, morning All from a wonderfully dry corner of Somerset

Little sleep here, I was going to sleep as you woke greyd. We’re venturing forth today, postponed from yesterday as neither of us fancied getting very wet. A visit to the cemetery where my parents rest which always worries me after wet weather as, in spite of new drainage, it still has a tendency to flood after heavy rain. We’ll see. A visit to an NT property first which we’ll enjoy. Before that a breakfast stop. It seems I’m all back to front today grin. Two motorways are involved, we’re hoping for a reasonable traffic day.

Best wishes to everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.
