Good morning all. Dry and calm at the moment in Glasgow but heavy rain is forecast to arrive soon.

A visit to DD1’s yesterday to meet the two new (kittens) family members. Both GDs are besotted with them after losing both their cats this year. They are rag doll breed, tottie wee balls of fur and so entertaining. Hairdressers this afternoon for a trim but nothing else on the cards, a do as I please day.

I remember you gaggagran. Lovely to see you back and what wonderful news for you and your DH.
GM you could possible make a fortune selling your recipe to Waitrose.
Get well, soon brook what a disappointment for you.
Pleased .to hear you are back home Jax, speedy recovery.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

luluaugust Thu 18-Dec-25 09:32:51

Harris I do wish you all the very best for your retirement and hope you have lots of new interesting adventures ahead

Harris27 Thu 18-Dec-25 09:25:15

Good morning all. Today I retire and join you all as an official retired being! It’s going to be emotional as I leave my post if twenty four years but a new chapter awaits. My new classroom will be my little reading room and my garden. Weather permitting. I’ve had the wobbles over retiring but now feel ready to embrace it! Wish me luck!

Susan56 Thu 18-Dec-25 09:04:54

Good morning from a dull and damp Shropshire.

A dramatic night as my sensor went off at 2am to warn my blood sugars were low(very).I took glucose but still low so DH very kindly made me tea and toast which I really didn’t feel like eating.Eventually my bloods were at a decent level so felt I could go back to sleep. All well this morning, just feel a bit washed out.Not sure why it happened as normally well controlled and no problems🤷‍♀️

We managed to do our Christmas shopping yesterday so will wrap the presents today and deliver local cards.

Good to see you back Gagagran and so good to hear your husband is now well.

Congratulations to grandMattie and also to Marydoll on doing the right thing 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼I am glad the PP realises his mistake.

Glad you are home Jax and wish you a full and speedy(maybe not too speedy) recovery.

I hope all suffering from this wretched virus start to feel better soon and as ever thoughts with our dear FGT and Himself.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩🎅🏼🎄

GrannySomerset Thu 18-Dec-25 08:52:20

Awaiting the arrival of my lovely hairdresser and then need to decide how to spend the day. This wretched virus is still hanging about although the cough is less awful so maybe will recruit my strength for an assault on the supermarket tomorrow. I left it too late to book a pre-Christmas delivery so have only myself to blame but wish I felt more enthusiastic.

Well done, gM, my mincemeat recipe comes from DH’s GGM who was the cook in a big house. It is idiot-proof and simple and keep well - just add a slug of brandy to last year’s or the year before’s. Well done Marydoll too; dealing with the dim is such hard work but it helps when you know you are in the right, as you are.

Morning from a damp S Hants, I slept well.
Good to see you Gagagran a welcome bright post for a dull day.
I was home yesterday by about 6pm, so good to be back, today will be moving about the house, exercises and catching up on TV!
What an accolade GMattie!
You must be disappointed brook but the right decision.
I hope you all have a pleasant day.

Good morning from a damp , dull N .Bucks.
Later this morning as didn’t get home until 1.30 this morning and slept in after having trouble getting my feet warm for some reason.
DH has a delivery to make and I’ve some jobs to do including bed changing.
This afternoon we are visiting my Sister in Law. She will be spending Christmas at her daughters. This is her first Christmas since my brother died which was on the 28th December . So, a difficult one for us all.
Haven’t read all your news yet but wish you all a good day worth a smile along the way.

Grammaretto Thu 18-Dec-25 08:28:32

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dark still.

I woke tired from a poor night and have lots to do today.

What an uplifting story about DH gagagran.
Wow! gMattie what a compliment. You could have your own TV show. Our very own Mary Berry.

Seriously though, it's nice to be appreciated 👏

I have 2 past students coming to lunch so must make a soup before I head out to Yoga.

My car is making noises again, another worry.
I delivered a carload of books to charity yesterday and perhaps those encyclopaedia volumes were just too heavy.

I hope your journey goes well Ash
And that you shake off your virus soon brook.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Georgesgran Thu 18-Dec-25 08:14:39

Good Morning from a barely light Durham. Last night’s rain has left everything saturated. Driving home after midnight (child minding) was tricky!
I’ve an empty, so I can please myself today. The house could do with a good clean, so I’ll put some tunes on and work through, room by room.

Best wishes to all. X

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 18-Dec-25 08:10:11

Morning all from West Oxfordshire,

Yesterday’s U3A lunch club Christmas lunch was fun. Around 20 of us gathered in a favourite restaurant. My only gripe - I don’t like red cabbage or Brussels, but there they are on every festive plate of food!

I am having my roots done today and a cut. I’m still not ready to go grey.

Have a good day. Thinking of the FGT2S and hoping all is well.

Gingster Thu 18-Dec-25 08:07:00

Good morning all.
Yesterday had trouble logging in. I tried for ages and then gave up. I’ve had to change my password! 😬.

A tiring day yesterday walking into town, to realise I’d left my bank card in my other purse. Luckily Dd was with me and she walked back and picked it up for me.
We met friends for coffee and then started the last (🤞) Christmas shopping.
It just seems to go on and on this year. Only a week to go now.

Today I'm. Going to our bowls club Christmas gathering. It’s at a friends lovely home and the husband is a great host so it should be very enjoyable. They’ve asked Dh to go along but he’s not interested. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

What a compliment GM.
Hope you feel better very soon Sar

Take care all 🎄

dragonfly46 Thu 18-Dec-25 08:03:15

gagagran how lovely to see you posting again and how heartwarming to hear of your DHs recovery.

WhiteSwan63 Thu 18-Dec-25 08:02:55

Good morning everyone from a dark damp east coast.

This morning I am going to the hairdressers to get my roots sorted and a cut. I will have mermaid waves put in as it’s my best friend’s Xmas party tomorrow and the waves will stay put for a couple of days.
My DD and GDs are on their way to Eurodisney until Tuesday. What a fabulous pre Christmas treat. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

I need to make a banana cake for my grandson to come home to as it’s his favourite and it’s his Thursday treat.
I’m hoping it’s my last childcare of the year but I have a sneaking suspicion I could be asked for Monday morning. We’ll see.

I had better go and get my porridge off the stove so wishing you all a lovely Thurday with moments of joy 🎄🎄

luluaugust Thu 18-Dec-25 08:01:02

Good morning from a wet and windy W Kent. Yesterday’s art lunch at the local College was great fun, a local school choir came and sang Carols and two of the students dressed as Father Christmas and his elf. It was good to catch up with everyone as we don’t restart until February. Today just a little shopping and final wrapping session.
What an interesting thing to happen gM
Marydoll your church going on remind me of church meetings when I was young, there were some right old heated discussions.
Best wishes

monk08 Thu 18-Dec-25 07:50:55

Good morning all from a dark but dry Black country.
What a lovely compliment grandMattie .
Local shop today, then friends coming later so a trip over to the club possibly last visit this side of Christmas.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

EkwaNimitee Thu 18-Dec-25 07:47:31

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp Carlisle where it was raining last night.
Tired, tired, tired this morning. I woke at two-ish and couldn't get back to sleep so I put on the remainder of Wind in the Willows. Evidently, I dozed through a lot of it and woke around 5 for a bit of restless dozing until 6-ish. It will be a nap and extra caffeine this morning.
Fortunately I have done the week's routine housework so shall pace myself gently, an after lunch walk would be good if the rain holds off. We don't seem to be getting the forecast amounts but I'm not complaining. It is very gloomy most of the day though.

Have the best possible day all of you.

Ashcombe Thu 18-Dec-25 07:45:54

Good morning from chilly but (so far) dry Crewe where we are staying in Travelodge as there is no room for us at the inn (ie DD2’s house!) due to the Australian contingent being in residence.

After a good journey here yesterday by train (yes, Susan56, we both enjoy rail travel, not least because we have 1st Class staff passes, thanks to DH’s years spent working in the industry) we enjoyed a meal with all the family in a nearby pub. My DGS is now 17 and a delightful young man.

Tonight we’re watching my DGD(13) dance in the opening night of a professional pantomime in Hanley (oh, yes we are!) - Cinderella.

A well deserved compliment, grandMattie and welcome back, Gagagran.

A good day to all!🎄🎁🧑🏻‍🎄

Grandmabatty Thu 18-Dec-25 07:25:59

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and damp. Gagagran how lovely to hear from you and a heartwarming story to start our day. GrandMattie what a compliment indeed! Harrigran happy birthday to your ds. Brook ❤️
Yesterday I had a lovely catch up with friends. We never stopped blethering for two hours. I had steak pie which was delicious but the vegetables and potatoes were too hard for me. I prefer my veg softer. Dodgy teeth!
Today I plan to go to town for some book related gifts, then home to iron and wrap presents. No doubt I'll need a rest after that. I had another rotten night's sleep and can't seem to get out of the pattern. Oh well, at least I don't have to work. Have a good day all.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Dec-25 07:24:53

Good morning from a very dark and wet S E Essex.

My cleaning fairies 🧚 are here at 8.30am, I am off for a manicure at 10.30.

Then at 1.30 we have our gym ladies `Christmas Lunch at a local Gastro Pub (some of us have known one and other since we were at senior school, some when our children started school, and others we met at the gym). I have organised a fund raising Secret Santa type raffle for our local hospice.

Hello gagagran I remember you 👋

Thinking of those who are navigating difficult paths 😘

Only six sleeps 🎅🏻

karmalady Thu 18-Dec-25 07:24:18

Good morning from s somerset, grim wet weather today

I remember you posting Gagagran welcome back

I finished the sleeve-less top and washed in the machine, wool wash, then straight onto the jumper board. It is dry now and looks very good, very useful. So much so that I have ordered the colour of yarn that dil wanted

I don`t have a set project today, I will be sure to do a little sewing and a lot of spinning. Day to day house jobs too

My sourdough starter is officially on day 2 and I can already see a bit of bubbling. I did use water from soaking raisins to speed it up. I only gave the sd up because of the very heavy weight of the dutch ovens, very dangerous after pre-heating. I have found a new method using light equipment.

I wonder if this is genetic, my grandfather founded an artisan bakery in Holland and I remember the rows of bread proofing overnight, by then my dgf had died and the baker was his son, my uncle. He used to get up at 4 to start the bread baking. My genes are all agriculture, horticulture and baking and I can see that in me

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Thu 18-Dec-25 07:22:40

Good morning from a saturated spot in south Glos, just how much more rain can we have?!
I put up the twiggy tree and some more bit yesterday, it looks really good I think. Some of the baubles are 45+ years old, bought when the DCs were very young.
I am pretty much ready for Christmas now, a few bits to wrap but that’s it.
Hope today goes well for everyone 🌹

Sar53 Thu 18-Dec-25 07:21:14

Good morning from the Essex coast, rain is forecast today.
I've woken up feeling awful, headache and aching all over. When I've had a cup of tea and a biscuit I'll take some paracetamol. I have a hair appointment this afternoon and I really need it cutting before we go away on Tuesday. I will need to wear a mask .
What a lovely thing to say to you GM, well done.
Have great day everyone, best wishes to all xx
