I m not surprised he’s a wonderful author and kids love his books but he comes across as a really sleazy individual
He has been dropped because of inappropriate behaviour towards young females Not for the first time either he’s been involved in poor behaviour more than once

I've watched many tv programmes with David Walliams and I have never liked his energy or personality. For many years I've often said to myself this man has an underlying persona which one day will be seen . His way of making things lewd or his attention seeking personality I've always cringed at . I don't watch much media news and I've yet to see why his name is suddenly appearing in a negative way . I won't be surprised at anything I read .

I avoid watching anything with him in as I too find him creepy. He cannot of course help how he looks - which is creepy - but his sly grin and general sleaziness absolutely do not get my vote.

BlueBelle Sat 20-Dec-25 09:38:38

Ok Grandmabatty I get it I have never read his books as my grandkids were too old when they became popular but I went by the fact that they are incredibly popular with kids but if they are as sleezy and nasty as him, but veiled, then that’s even worse and I take back what I said about him being a good author

I also think there’s a lot more to come and let’s hope it does come into the open I could never understand why people liked him or thought him funny and I think it’s got worse as he’s got more famous

My DGD read his earlier books some years ago……they’ve grown out of them now. Personally, I’ve not read them and did find his behaviour on BGT uncomfortable and inappropriate.
Can’t help thinking that there’s more to come on DW.

Grandmabatty Sat 20-Dec-25 08:55:37

He isn't a wonderful author but a popular author with children. Sadly they don't get the nuances and undertones to his books

MartavTaurus Sat 20-Dec-25 08:54:07

I agree with all the comments here.
Except he is not a wonderful author.

petra Sat 20-Dec-25 08:46:00

I think there’s more to come.
Why did the CEO of Harper Collins resign unexpectedly in October?
Why has Simon Cowell stopped all communication with him on Social Media?

BlueBelle Sat 20-Dec-25 08:39:43

I ve never read any of his books but called him a wonderful author on the back of all the children I know love his books and anyone who can get children reading and enjoying reading gets a tick but not having read them myself I don’t know if they are well written or not
But I do know he oozes sleeze and a very nasty streak
He’s now acting all innocent and saying he’s never been called out for any inappropriate behaviour with young ladies

I’m another one who never liked him.

But - it does beg the question - how in Hades did he ever become “a celebrity” in the first place? Let alone “a successful children’s author”. Some people must have thought he was wonderful.

Sago

He makes my skin crawl, as did Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris.

We must always follow our gut reaction.

As a child I had an Uncle who used to insist on sitting me on his knee and tickling me, I hated him.

He once visited our home, as he left he demanded a kiss, I refused and ran away, my stupid Mother told me off for not kissing him.

We must allow our children and grandchildren to follow their gut reactions.

Sadly, too many generations have been ingrained with the mentality of forcing physical affection onto children. This is why grooming is so successful in plain site. For every creep uncle or famous creep like Walliams and Saville, there are many children—especially girls—who grow up being reluctant to enforce physical boundaries with violators. We teach them to fear being viewed as impolite more than essentially being assaulted. I don’t even like to see people guilt-trip toddlers with “granny will be so sad if you don’t give a hug and a kiss”. It’s harmful behaviour that prepares them to accept unwanted touching later in life.

Millie22 Sat 20-Dec-25 08:26:28

He's certainly not a wonderful author and his behaviour on BGT was like a cringefest.

BlessedArt Sat 20-Dec-25 08:24:24

He’s always struck me as a creep. His books are also awful and poorly written. Long time coming, though I’m sure it is likely in response to some scandal close to being made public. I am not convinced the publisher suddenly became a company of integrity and is merely ridding itself of an unsavory writer.

BlueBelle Sat 20-Dec-25 08:14:20

Well I can see we all agree on this one, a rare take on GN

I loathed Little Britain, though I only watched a couple of the early ones so possibly shouldn’t comment
I dislike so called comedians who mock people, humiliate them, plain nasty

Grandmabatty Sat 20-Dec-25 07:51:22

His books are horrible. They have a bullying undertone to many of them and the characters are awful. Apart from that, they're badly written.
I never understood his type of humour and disliked Little Britain. He and Matt Lucas seemed to revel in mocking people with physical or mental difficulty.

Marriedalongtime Sat 20-Dec-25 07:51:11

He was a ‘guest’ on The Wheel the other weekend and made some quite nasty and inappropriate remarks to the contestant. It was cringeworthy. I was surprised they hadn’t edited him out.

I’ve always found him creepy.

Used to wonder if he were gay, but wasn’t he married to a glam model? (Not that makes any difference).

I wondered what she saw in him.

Vito Fri 19-Dec-25 23:05:44

Well said Bluebelle, I have never liked him, been saying for years he's been hiding in plain sight. Revolting man.

Allira Fri 19-Dec-25 22:46:40

Galaxy

You are showing off now Allirasmile

It's DH, not me!

"The Earth is not round, dear" he tells me.
Well, it certainly looks it! 🌏

Primrose53 Fri 19-Dec-25 22:20:16

Not in the least surprised, he has always been creepy and his behaviour on BGT was embarrassing and when he was kissing Simon Cowell and making suggestive remarks it was making SC very uncomfortable.

It reminded me very much of how Jimmy Savile kissed women's hands and made creepy remarks to them and he did all this openly, just as DW does, because they knew nobody would call them out. I think we will be hearing a lot more about this story and I have said this before on GN.

So we all found him awful!! I thought some of his appearances on Britains got Talent were truly terrible and I always wondered how he stayed as long as he did I couldn’t believe how smutty he was allowed to be on a programme kids would be watching.
I ve never read any of his books but I know a lot of kids love reading them
Nasty little man

DH loathed him. Mostly because if his behaviour on BGT.
Youngest grandson loved his early books though.

NanKate Fri 19-Dec-25 22:08:31

I thought he was gay, perhaps not.

Galaxy Fri 19-Dec-25 22:02:22

It looks to me as if everyone knew who worked with him as well. How many times is this going to happen.
