Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

Today MrB and I couldn’t enjoy our usual circular walk. The storm gates are open and the footbridge is closed so it looks like a high tide is expected. We walked down to the river and back instead. Santa trains are running all day.

I’m thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles, as always.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from the Black country.
No plans as yet will see where the day takes me.
Dgs2 ended up taking my singing gingerbread man home with him at the end of their visit, Ds and DiL will be curse me and hoping batteries soon run out😃.
Happy birthday Roses 🎂🎉🎁.
Happy Anniversary Dragonfly how lovely DH is coming home 🍾💐.
Welcome to the newbies 👋.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. I see blue sky out there. I’m feeling smug as I got a half-price (l’m Scottish 😂) Nordmann fir and we got it up and decorated yesterday. I usually just decorate a branch from the woods, though that is also lovely.
Happy birthday RosesandLilac. I hope your son makes it. And Happy Anniversary Dragonfly 🌹.
Off to sing carols and hear seasonal readings.
Good wishes Mick and all.

Good morning all. Sunny and dry again in Glasgow this morning. Delighted too today is the shortest day.

On the spur of the moment, I decided to drive up to the But n Ben to collect a few things. GD2 came with me and we had a lovely day together. Such changes now compared to the days she was strapped into her child seat. Oh how time flies.

Happy Birthday Roses and many happy returns of the day. Your cake sounds delicious.
Happy Anniversary Dragonfly A happy coincidence your DH is returning home today too. Have a lovely day together.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday.

everyone, sorry

Good morning from South Lanarkshire and Happy Birthday to Roses, hope you have a nice day.

I was up early since I have quite a lot to do, still a couple of cards to hand deliver and a gift to drop off, even went to the Vigil mass last night to ‘leave a clear day’ but somehow not very much achieved so far🥺.

My neighbour and I went to a a showing of The Snowman yesterday afternoon in a local hall. It was accompanied by Kirkintilloch Brass band and before the film the audience of children, parents and grandparents joined in enthusiastically with standing up, sitting down and singing The Twelve Days of Christmas,
A lovely afternoon topped by good coffee and fresh scones with cream and jam.

What a perfect day to get your husband restored to you Dragonfly I hope all goes well for you and a very one else today.

Thoughts too with you Gingster. Your path is a stony one. I do very much admire your positivity and how you hold things together. x

And another one who seldom posts but read all your posts. As people already said, it's that sense of connection. It's funny how particularly at this time of the year that feels important

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 21-Dec-25 09:48:42

So pleased to hear your husband is coming home today, your wedding anniversary dragonfly. Wishing the best for you both now. x

Many happy returns of the day to you Roses.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Just a quick visit as we’ve run out of milk and I’m making Yorkshire puddings! I’m the only one up so far so I will have to nip down to the shop.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Happy Birthday, Roses. Happy Anniversary, Dragonfly.
Lovely houses, grandMattie.
Love your posts, Madeleine, Kirby Lonsdale was the half way point on our journey to Blackpool illuminations in the 1950s. Happy memories.
Thoughts with those in pain or under the weather and especially the fgts.
Nice to see new posters, I’m another who reads daily but seldom posts.

Gingster Sun 21-Dec-25 09:12:25

Hope your DH’s discharge and return home goes to plan Dragonfly. That’s the anniversary gift you’ll both want. 🥂

Gingster Sun 21-Dec-25 09:06:24

Good morning everyone. I think we’re in for a wet day after yesterday’s lovely sunshine.

DGD is here after staying the night. Dd still poorly.
I took her to the Carol concert and it was very long and boring for her but she’s such a star and didn’t fuss at all. I felt bad for her but hadn’t realised it was the Carol concert with the 9 lessons plus a long sermon from the vicar. No much fun for a 10 year old.

We walked back home enjoying all the Christmas lights and were pleased to have our spag Bol to warm and cheer us up.

DS1 and DIL are coming in for coffee and chat and I’ll take DGD home sometime this afternoon.

Take care all 🎄

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
DD and SIL called in briefly and DS and GD1 came for the evening, GD2 has the flu.
Today DD and SIL are going to take me shopping, only free time they have to help me shop for the Christmas day food.
Happy birthday Roses.

A day to celebrate RosesandLilac 💐 and Dragonfly 💐

My parents also married on the 21st December. Mum told me in those days women who married had to leave work. They needed the money, so married secretly so she could keep her job at Lewis’s in Birmingham.

hollysteers Sun 21-Dec-25 08:49:19

Good morning from a dark and wet northwest coast.
Lovely day yesterday, I went to an exhibition in our local gallery which has displayed paintings ‘salon style’, that is one on top of another up to the ceiling, as they did in Victorian times. Many paintings have not seen the light of day for yonks.
It was very interesting and you certainly get more for your money (although it was free..)
Then on to a Xmas fair and bought stocking fillers and primulas.

Came home and fell asleep in the sitting room, which is annoying as I wanted to carry on with various things and it affects my nighttime sleep.
DD arrives from the south later today so will make a chicken casserole and clear the dining room table after card making.

Happy birthday Roses and thoughts to all🌺🎄

WhiteSwan63 Sun 21-Dec-25 08:41:27

Good morning from the East Coast. I am not out of bed yet. We have an empty day today so no rush to do anything.

Welcome to new posters this morning. 👋Merry Christmas to you all. 🎄

Our big shop yesterday was easy the huge Tesco was busy but we walked straight on a till. There was a nice atmosphere. We didn’t go overboard with shopping as we live close to a local shop and they reopen Boxing Day if we have forgotten something.

Our daughter and Granddaughters are having a lovely time in Disneyland Paris there have been some super cute pictures.
All I really have to do today is go to the local supermarket to pick up an Amazon parcel so I might incorporate a walk which would do me good. We had a cosy afternoon and evening yesterday after shopping watching festive tv. Watched quite a sweet movie on Netflix called Secret Santa which we quite enjoyed. It takes no thinking about so if you like a typical Christmas movie to curl up and relax to its for you.

Enjoy your Sunday if you can and I hope there are many moments of joy🎄
