Just came back on to read more posts from GN's. Best laid plans etc., I strtuggled to wrap an awkward present to take to someone today, managed to get most of the shopping I needed and came home and got the washing out and then went on the yellow peril to Upfront, as by then I judged that the roads were so crazy it would be safer doing that. So after all my effort, unfortunately she was working at home as she is not at all well,

I came back home and began to do a bit of sorting out, but fell asleep for at least half an hour, and looking out now it is very grey and damp looking, so am going to go and get the washing from the line, dont think it will be much drier but should smell good from being outside. Then bed to make and general tidying up before I get down to some ironing and planning what I shall wearing over christmas. At the moment it could be anything from raining to very cold so have to have a few things. Somewhat miffed off after making sure that all the rubbish was sorted and put out last night to get back and none of it gone and no new bags left yet. Ah well I shall have radio 3 and 4 to keep me company while I iron, and plan to have a very simple and plain meal tonight before all the festive stuff begins. Glad to be home safe and away from the traffic and the chaos now. Hope everyone has managed to do the things they wanted to

We none of us know but that is a good thing, we don’t put too much pressure on ourself and others.
In my life I have had three close to me, Father aged 49, step father 76 and MiL 66 die in the early weeks of the New Year.
We had done the same Christmas as usual.
I don’t think I could have been brave for others,I feel I would have been hyper.
Better not to have known.
Now 88 I may be facing it but I don’t know so I won’t dwell.
Happy, happy Christmas Blossoming and all.

Your brave post made me reflect Blossoming that without wishing to take away from it, for many of us it could well be our last Christmas - at least with no empty spaces at the table.
When GS3 (D2 ‘s first baby) was born I was very eager to share his first Christmas - as we had GSs 1 and 2. But I recognised his other grandparents might feel likewise so the only thing was to invite them as well as D, SIL and little fella to stay with us. It was lovely, the other granny had early Alzheimer’s but was happy to be in familiar surroundings and we all had a joyful Christmas.
Little did I know at the time it was to be DH’s last Christmas.
But I have the happiest memories of that time.

Good morning all,
Another gloomy day today, dank and grey but at least it’s not raining yet.
Just got back from the dentist. All clear for another 6 months 🤞.
The supermarket car park wasn’t too full, thankfully, so I got a space fairly easily as the dental surgery is nearby. Just enjoying a coffee now before I tackle a few chores.
💐 Blossoming.

Good morning all. It’s grey but dry at least in Glasgow this morning. No idea what the forecast is.

I didn’t make it to the shopping mall yesterday so must go today. A gift still to buy for DD1 and a winter bouquet from M&S to take to hers on Thursday. GDs have told me it is quieter around lunchtime so I will head over then.

Jax A glass or two of Cranberry juice will bring relief from a UTI. Hope it clears up soon.
So kind of your aunt to keep the tradition going sending your bouquet baubles. I was filling up reading your post thinking of my own late darling Mum.

My best wishes to all for a good day especially to those who find this time of year difficult to go through.

Good morning from grey N Bucks.
There is so often this lull in the weather just before Christmas isn’t there?
I’ve decided to indulge myself with coffee in bed (TIB was 2 hours ago) as it’s the last “quiet “ morning.
Presents wrapped, cakes iced (for DDs and self) shopping done, really ,just got to take Rosie to kennels this afternoon and get myself packed and drive to Somerset tomorrow morning.
Yesterday’s lunch at our local Camphill Community was out of this world and would have held its own in any high end restaurant.
(If you don’t know about them Camphill communities are residential communities and schools that provide support for the education, employment, and daily lives of adults and children with developmental disabilities, mental health problems, or other special needs .There are over 100 Camphill communities in more than 20 countries across Europe, North America, Southern Africa and Asia. )
I’d gone with friends we met when our daughters were at primary school together about 35 years ago but had sort of lost touch. Anyway it was lovely to catch up and we’ll be seeing more of each other I am sure.
Wishing you all a pleasant day, whether rushed off your feet or quietly remembering Christmas times of days gone by. 🎄

Good morning everyone from grey Lancashire.

I’m feeling remarkably chill this morning. The decision to strip Christmas back to the bare bones due to my failing health isn’t one I wanted to make, but it’s turned out for the best in the end. My family and friends know I love them whether I send a card or buy a gift, and some people will have a better Christmas than they might have thanks to our choosing to donate to Crisis instead of buying more ‘stuff’. I have a feeling this may be my last Christmas but I feel at peace with it all. I’ve tried my best at life.

I’m thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles, as always.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a dry and dull northwest coast. DD from the south here and DS and DGD will arrive Christmas Eve.
We enjoyed a chicken casserole and put lights around my trellis archway in the front garden.
Yesterday we did a big shop in Lidl , or Adl, as I call both supermarkets, and I was most impressed by the 5p bags of vegetables. Stocked up on those.

Picked up my repaired specs, just as well as otherwise I would have spent the season in dark prescription specs, like a gangster or someone avoiding the paparazzi.
Although not an exciting day, I enjoyed it with my DD who is such a help.
In the evening I took her to the train as she met up with an old friend for a meal in the city and was nodding off under my heated throw later when she phoned to see if I could pick her up. Of course!

There were traces of a mouse in the kitchen the other week, but peppermint spray and poison seem to have done the trick🤞 Hope it was a mouse and not a rat😨 Tricky as the cat food is there.
Today I going to completely clear the dining room table of painting stuff and plant up primulas in a tub.
I had a better night’s sleep last night with mouth tape, bad night the night before.
Hope you soon feel better bella, thoughts to the FGTs and all 🎄🌺

A late Good Mirning from Durham. Damp and dismal again, but no wind and fairly mild.
Bedlam today, with both DDs and DGSs (possibly Little Dog too) arriving for drinks and nibbles early afternoon. There’s a 4 year gap between the DGSs, but they don’t see each other that often, so they usually interact well when they do. I’m not a fan of Christmas, but I try to put on a bit of a show for them.

Doesn’t this time of year revive sad memories for many? I hope those feeling down in the dumps improve as the days lengthen.

Best wishes to all. X
