As I don’t get out much I was late getting a family card for my D.
It then got written and forgotten until Saturday morning.
Last posting day for Second class stamps was last Wednesday.
I got someone to post it for me
, still with Second class stamp, on Saturday lunchtime and told my D to expect it before the New Year.
She has just rung to say it has arrived.
Stockport to W Sussex , I am so impressed.

Fat finger in the thread title.
Won’t bother to get it changed.
I’m sure it is understood.

Nice to see Royal Mail doing it right.

I thought your fat finger title was amusing utbb. After all we do lick the envelopes. 😂

I thought it was an allusion to some sexual practice.
Probably been reading too much MN.
Although they don't bother much with allusions over there.
Just straight up Anglo salon...

Conversely, I paid a few pence short of £4 to post a large letter, 24hour tracked delivery. It was an important document. It took 5 days.

In the past 3 weeks we have had only 2 deliveries. On Sunday the postman delivered 35 items! We don't live in a remote area but on a main road close to a major city. I have absolutely no faith in Royal Mail and told everyone not to waste their money sending us a Christmas card this year.

Totally agree, mail deliveries been appalling here too.

We rarely get more than one delivery a week. Apparently they have to prioritise 48hr and 24hr packages and only deliver letters if they have time.
It’s utterly farcical.
We haven’t had any deliveries at all since the 15th and I know that I was sent cards that haven’t arrived yet. It’s highly unlikely we’ll see a postman tomorrow, they don’t cover our village on a Wednesday 🤷🏼‍♀️

I couldn't figure out why my sister in Ireland had sent me two Christmas cards, which arrived this week. Both obviously Christmas cards in red envelopes.

That was until I noticed that one was posted on 8.12.2023!

Amazing but true. I received both cards within the last week.

I wonder where the 2023 one has been for the past two years?

Granmarderby10 Tue 23-Dec-25 19:23:28

Yep quite chuffed that my card bundle sent before 1pm yesterday arrived mid day Oxford for actual birthday. Special delivery £ 10.00 ish.😸

But we often receive the same lot of junk mail two or three times.

The other day a bundle of charity envelopes, free magazines and store promotions came through the letter box.

A couple of hours later, the same postman pushed another duplicate pile through.

🤷‍♀️
