Too late for “Good morning” but just wanted to say best wishes to Mick and all who post or read here. Peace and joy to you, whatever your circumstances 🌠🕯️

A very late good morning from PG Towers where all Christmas prep is done by the staff with my good self providing suggestions, support and general supervision, which all went down a treat…😇

I’m now working my way through all the posts this morning from the regulars to the readers, lurkers and all and it struck me that we’re all in this together - good times, bad times, exciting times and the dullest days.

I raise a glass 🥂to better times ahead for everyone and thank you for cheering me up on my down days, raising a smile every day and showing me how to “keep buggering on” as Churchill had it!

BlueSapphire wishing you a peaceful Christmas x

Good morning everyone from a very cold Bristol where pale sunshine has just emerged through the grey. Like other posters, Christmas isn't the same these days since I lost my DH. I also miss my mum not coming to stay as she used to but she died over 20 years ago. It's just me and my adult son now, who never married, and my beautiful cat. On the bonus side, I have few presents to buy and little in the way of food prep. My son and I go to a restaurant for Christmas Lunch these days. I shall enjoy a few glasses of wine with my lunch without having to drive for a change.

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

I love Christmas Eve, more so than Christmas Day. It has always felt to me as though the world holds its breath, waiting for something wonderful to happen.

MrB and I have enjoyed our usual walk around the Dock in the sunshine. My life is made up of these precious moments. I wonder how many people are dashing about, too busy to notice the world around them? 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

I’m thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles, as always.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

Roses Wed 24-Dec-25 10:41:45

Wishing everyone a happy peaceful Christmas.
Hope the poorlies soon recover

Just popped on to wish you all a Happy Christmas🎄 and all the best. 🥂

I rarely contribute to this thread but do try and read about all your busyness most mornings.

We are having neighbours over for a Christmas Eve drink later. Tomorrow will be a quiet Christmas Day-just us 2 and our son who will join us for Christmas Lunch-after which he will return home to host his own Christmas Day get together with friends who similarly to him, arent with their children over Christmas as its not their 'turn'! Such is life eh? xx

Good morning, Michael12, and everyone!

It's 9:55 am, and I've just come back from the local hardware store to buy TWO new kettles as the one I have in the kitchen and the other in the bedroom both snuffed it within about an hour of each other around midnight! £40.00 cash from my purse for them, but I just can't go without kettles, they're 100% essential to me for tea and hot water bottles!

I've had another really rough night with pesterpause - I mean menopause - more ups and downs during the night than a yoyo. Scoffing slices of Cathedral City cheese at 2:20 am, topped with garlic mayo, and guzzling Dr Pepper as if they're going out of fashion! And Paracetamol!

Being an Athiest, I don't have anything to do with Christmas, so tomorrow I've got my bottles of Baileys and boxes of chocs to scoff and guzzle while dying with laughter watching hilarious Minions movies on my laptop!

I've ordered online some more books and also an Emotional Support Bat Keyring, and a matching pendant, so they should all be with me around 23rd January, about a week before I move to wonderful Whitby!

Have a good one, all!

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas.

I read everyday but never comment but feel I know you all well.

A photo I took some years ago of my cat patiently waiting for his dinner.

I am another lurker on this thread, in that I look forward to reading everyday of all your doings but never post on it myself. It brightens my mornings to hear of all your plans and I am constantly amused by and amazed at what you manage to do and to contend with in your lives. Christmas is not an easy time for many of us, but may we all know a quiet contentment in our hearts over the next few days.

Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire - Alexa tells me it is 2°.

We have an interesting day ahead. We had planned a little family get together for Sunday but so many of the children (and their children) have bugs, we have decided to cancel.

We are, therefore, distributing the extra food and mulled wine to each family. It's like a military operation as some are vegan, some don't like this or that and the butcher has just delivered 100 pigs in blankets that need new homes.

Have the best day possible everyone.

aggie Wed 24-Dec-25 10:01:50

Good morning from a bright chilly Co Armagh
I’m still in pjs ! I put the ham in the slow cooker at 8.30 , should have done it last night !
I’m an infrequent poster , but do read everyday , I had to come on today to wish everyone a Happy Christmas

DS arrived yesterday afternoon and it has been a joy to have him on his own at this sentimental time of year, remembering the Christmases of his childhood and various things which didn’t go quite to plan - including launching brand new Action Man Red Devil parachutist out of a window four storeys up, only for him to get lodged in the gutter from which he had to be rescued, very pathetic, by the school handyman after new year. He is off later this morning to see DGD2 and small son who is three today, before going back to London for Christmas with the rest of his family.

Like so many of us I have a complicated relationship with Christmas but will do my best not to spoil it for others. Hope all plans work out well!

Good morning from a grey but dry NE.
I was busy all day yesterday, up at 4.30am and got all the washing done and ironed.
Hoovered upstairs and made up bed in one of the guest bedrooms.
Today I will hoover and dust downstairs. I need the music room to be ready for our musical evening after dinner tomorrow night.
This afternoon and evening I will prepare vegetables and make a list of cooking times and when things should go in the oven, I am getting forgetful these days.
My very best wishes to you all.

Good Morning from Durham - grey, still and chilly. The heating has come on.
Yesterday was lovely, if chaotic, with both DDs and both DGSs here.
Today is a leisurely prep day, table to set and vegetables to peel, etc. Everyone knows I’m not a fan of Christmas, so I’m just looking forward to it being over and packed away for another year. However, I’ll have DD2 and family here for the day, so I shall make an effort for DGS2. To be honest, I’d prefer to be left alone.
💐Blossoming

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick & everyone, Happy Christmas Eve 🎄⭐️

I have done one message but on adding the photo it disappeared so trying again.

We are having a slow start after an unexpectedly busy and stressful day yesterday. My sister in law passed away in sad circumstances suddenly at 68 years. So distressing particularly for her 94 year old mum and only son.

Today DD2 will come for lunch with the little ones. They have requested hot homemade sausage rolls, reindeer buns and mango sorbet! They are off to their Dad’s house at 4 pm and returning 10 am Boxing Day. DD2 will work the night shift tonight and be with us tmrw. It is not easy for split families as many of you know. However Trixie the elf has been busy bringing joy this morning😂

Hope everyone will find some peace and happiness this time of year isn’t always easy for so many. Thinking of everyone struggling and sending love 🌺🎄⭐️

Oldbutstilluseful Wed 24-Dec-25 09:09:39

Wishing all the lovely posters who share their daily ups and downs with us all, especially those like me who read but don’t post, as happy a Christmas as is possible, given all the different circumstances you all live with every day. I don’t think you could possibly realise what a glimpse into others lives means to those of us who lead very quiet lives.
I find the bravery, stoicism and downright stubbornness to give in to what life throws at you, truly inspiring.
Happy Christmas to you all, and thank you 🎄⭐️

Grammaretto Wed 24-Dec-25 09:09:21

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas Eve.
Please don't sink below the waves of festive madness thanks RosieandherMaw for that analogy

My earlier post didn't send so this is me an hour later. About to scrub a burnt pan with vinegar and bicarb thanks AI

Have the best day possible everyone ❤️

Morning from a bright SHants, a chill wind out, up, showered and sitting in state, Mr J is a star, hand up both Turkey and duck innards earlier grabbing the offal!
May you all have a pleasant Christmas Eve with no disasters and gentle reflection xx

hollysteers Wed 24-Dec-25 08:59:27

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Wrapped presents and did quite a lot of prep yesterday towards the big day. DD and DS are doing the actual cooking, but I still have things to do. The table is set, art materials put to one side and presents wrapped.

DD out again last night with old school friends and on returning, woke me up asleep in front of the tv. I keep having to rewind back to the place I nodded off…

I’ll take a gift round to a music club member just out of hospital and have a walk around the block later. We have some pretty impressive lights to see around here.

Season’s greetings to all🎄🎄🎄🌺

NannyJan53 Wed 24-Dec-25 08:54:30

Forgot to mention. DGD2 (17) passed her Driving Theory test first time yesterday! Now to book the actual driving one!

Gingster Wed 24-Dec-25 08:49:58

Good morning and a busy time for all.
Yes Whiteswan it’s lovely to hear of everyone’s ‘doings’ at this time of year, but sad to hear of those who are wishing it to be all over. 🙏.

Yesterday I had an early surprise phone call from the hospital physio department. They had a cancellation and could the head physiotherapist visit Dh sometime that afternoon!
We thought he’d been discharged and signed off but they wanted to see how he was progressing.
He was very thorough and checked Dh over but told him he MUST do his excercises twice a day to recover his strength and balance. He could be so much better if he put a little effort in.

Today we’ll hunker down, nothing pressing to do as we’re not hosting this year. On our own tomorrows and at DS1’s on Boxing Day. Very nice.

I hope all your preparations , journeys and family times go according to plan.
Keep well 🎄

NannyJan53 Wed 24-Dec-25 08:48:41

Good morning from a much brighter Black Country, it was so dark and dank yesterday.

Went to Merry Hill shopping centre yesterday, to get a few things for Mum and MrJ.He meanwhile cooked the Ham for Boxing Day, and Red Cabbage.

I noticed outside & B&M cut Christmas Trees were reduced to £5, and hour later again to £2!

Wrap the few presents today, and may go for a walk as it is dry for once!

Tomorrow we are having Christmas Lunch at DD's so need to be there for around 2pm.

Wishing you all a happy, peaceful Christmas. Thinking of all who have a loved one missing this Christmas.

glammagran Wed 24-Dec-25 08:40:49

Strike through didn’t work
