Merry Christmas to you all. It's just after noon on Christmas Eve here. We had snow last week and the temperature has dropped below freezing, so the 6" of snow will stay until the weekend. Lovely for the little ones off school to go sledding. We also have humpback whales and great gangs of sea lions visiting our harbour chasing after herring. They have put on quite a show for us when we go for a walk in the afternoon along the waterfront trail.

I've got a bit of last minute wrapping, then peeling veg and setting the table for tomorrow. The family comes over around 11 for Christmas lunch. We count ourselves lucky to have some family in town, and we will facetime visit with my daughter and family who live down south.

I hope you all have a peaceful and joyful day tomorrow. Hugs to those that are feeling bereaved or lonely.

A very Happy Christmas to all on Gansnet and a very healthy and peaceful New year.
I know that many of you have had illness, loss of loved ones and troubles as have I, and hope that next year will be a better one for everyone.
My blessings to you all from
Carole Anne and Mr Carole Anne.brewtchsmileflowers

Happy Christmas to all.

One hundred pigs in blankets has made me laugh.

And on another thread a poster said one year she made a mistake with the online order and received one sprout.
That would be so funny if a poster had 100 PIB and one sprout!!!

Another lurker who reads every day.
Sending Christmas wishes to everyone, hope you all have a happy and peaceful day.

Be gracious, Greciangirl, if just for a couple of days.

Some here would love to be fussed over by a DD and her cooking for them.

And no, for many of us, it's NOT 'just another day'.

Don't spoil things for other people.

NannieChicken Wed 24-Dec-25 16:12:28

A lovely sunny day here in Worcestershire.
A bit behind with things as our electricity went off for a few hours again yesterday. Anything that needed electricity got moved to today's list.
Family arriving soon and what's not done by the time they arrive won't be getting done!
Then I'll start again on Boxing day when the next lot arrive.
Merry Christmas. X

GrannyIvy so sorry to hear your sad news, thinking of you and your family x

cornergran Wed 24-Dec-25 16:00:04

Apologies grannyivy I missed your sad news. My condolences to you on your loss x

Greciangirl Wed 24-Dec-25 15:49:07

Really.! It’s just another day.

So much fuss about food, food and more food.

My Dd is a food fanatic and not looking forward to seeing her tomorrow as she stresses about food the whole time.
It does somewhat spoil it for us as we are not foodies.

good afternoon from a breezy and chilly poole - the sun was out earlier but it seems to have disappeared now.
i did go out earlier to pick up my christmas dinner ordered from a local restaurant. should be good and easy to prepare.
i then braved tesco to pick up some bits and pieces i forgot yesterday.
now i've got enough food to last me for a fortnight at least! apart from milk and bread that is.
i hope everyone has a very happy christmas whether with friends and/or relations or, like me, doing a solo christmas.

Hello Mick and GNs from an occasional poster on the East Sussex coast. Grey but fine here with some sort of fierce arctic winds attacking my little hill town.

Out to lunch with friends on Christmas Day but this afternoon I will be choosing the wines and making the dessert to take with me. It will be baked winter fruits from a Cranks recipe book - always delicious and not too fattening (but when you add cream ??!).

Thinking of all, especially those like me who wish that their beautiful special one was still alive. Best wishes x.

Good afternoon

I had started to send my grandchildren Premion Bonds instead of gifts. They have loads (too Much) at Christmas and I decided that because it is a Bond it cannot be discarded. My eldest boy informed me this year 'not to do this and send the cash instead' I was lost for words. At their request I sent a gift voucher but under the pressure of my husband being in hospital I bought it on the USA H&M website!!! my son rang me this morning to tell me. I immeidiatly said 'thats it I am going back to Premium Bonds' He said no just send the cash! I do not recognise him anymore,as a child he was so sensitive. Despite welcoming my DIL into the family and years of her openly snubbing me I cannot walk away. He is my son but my question to you all 'is how would you deal with this situation' Thanks. I am not with his father who left me for the woman he is with now. How did I become the 'bad guy'? Happy Christmas everyone

Just send them cash, make it easier on yourself.

Helping our younger twin daughter with preparations; table setting, a cheese board, wine glasses for the cheese & wine tasting and also the sweet board ..

Hubs is with his new grandsom / almost 5 months now.

The gents are going to the airport to pick up my older twin daughter, her 2 kiddos and hubs and their 2 pups !

So, Christmas Eve shall be a full table, there are the 2 gals and their hubs and each one has 2 kids each and us. So, 10 altogether.

Have a beautiful Christmas Eve and Christmas Holiday.

All our best wishes.

Rather late posting today, but just wanted to wish all of you the very best for the season. 🎄⭐️

Condolences to you, GrannyIvy. There’s never a good time to lose someone, but it seems especially difficult at this time. 💐

Oldbutstilluseful

Wishing all the lovely posters who share their daily ups and downs with us all, especially those like me who read but don’t post, as happy a Christmas as is possible, given all the different circumstances you all live with every day. I don’t think you could possibly realise what a glimpse into others lives means to those of us who lead very quiet lives.
I find the bravery, stoicism and downright stubbornness to give in to what life throws at you, truly inspiring.
Happy Christmas to you all, and thank you 🎄⭐️

I am one of those who read this thread daily but don't post.

I agree with everything that Oldbutstilluseful has said.

Merry Christmas to you all.
