Old wedding presents still used

Just a cut glass vase, this is our ninth house so nothing else has survived. I also have my Mum’s cut glass small trifle dish and china cups and saucers which she gave to me but they were not a wedding present, she also gave my son and daughter in law her Worcester China coffee set when they got married 33 years ago.

Our best Royal Doulton china - goodness, l sound like Hyacinth Bouquet, which is used a few times a year and our canteen of Viners cutlery, again used a few times a year. We were married in 1989.

My trusty orange ironing board and a wooden clothes dryer, circa 1970. Both our daughters covert them.

I still use a bread board which my parents had as a Wedding present in 1952. I am still using a le Creuset casserole which my late aunt gave me in 1976 - 49 years ago.

My wooden chopping board was a wedding present to my parents in 1951, and used most days. My granddaughter was horrified by ‘ the germs there must be!’

I've still got an electric hand-mixer, bought for our wedding just over 40 years ago. The motor is getting quite growly, and one of the whisk bits keeps falling out, but I can't bear to part with it.

I had to ditch my old ironing board, discovered it had asbestos. Using my teapot and sugar bowls from wedding set.

Crikey! Bet they're not made to the same standard these days.

I still tend to buy German brands - but even they aren't what I mean by "German" - ie longlasting good quality...even if someone has put German somewhere on the packaging. I've now had several toasters in a row only last me about 2 years! (ie just long enough I can't claim under guarantee).

I have a beautiful wooden fruit bowl, hand made by a friend, and gifted to me and my first husband back in 1977, so heading towards 50 years old. It still sits on my kitchen table now.

My sofa is 30years old. Done up once. Still fantastic. It’ll see me out!

I think the oldest thing I still use is a Cornish ware sugar shaker, which had been my nanna’s, and which my mum gave me a few years ago. This thread prompted me to look up the shield on the stamp, and it’s 1930s. I still use a few wedding presents of my own (1985), including a celery vase - not sure if they are even produced these days.

My 'Best' china was a wedding present as were many of the pots and pans I use all the time. My everyday crockery is a mixture of what I had before I was married and some of my mum's which I kept when she died. We had two quality dinner sets as wedding presents as my ex and I liked different ones. When we split up he took the one he preffered and I kept the one I liked best. It doesn't get used much these days as I don't entertain much now, and it isn't as robust for washing in a dishwasher as the everyday stuff I use which is pyrex.

Loving this thread. I’m still using my Love Story cutlery which was a wedding present and my electric carving knife ditto. Also a set of china which was an engagement gift bought from an offer in Woman’s Weekly. The towels have all gone but then it is 50 years!

Viners studio canteen of cutlery still in use and royal Worcester ramekins and salt and pepper mill all in daily use from 1969.

1968 wedding presents of daily used Viners stainless steel kitchen cutlery, a Sky-line set of knives with wooden handles, which get machine washed, a glass water jug, a swan teapot, which the French think is swank, as well as 6 teaspoons my MiL won at bingo back in the day. Oh, I also have the origin ironing board. We were too poor for best sets of either cutlery and china in those days.
I have moved many times since that time, including 3 countries, so I had to part with many kitchen items.

Still use my slow cooker. 44 years and works perfectly.

I have just changed my ironing board it was 58 years old, I bought a willow patten set of china and a set of glasses for my bottom drawer and still have them, I also have a bedspread and a pressure cooker that were wedding presents

A sewing box from & aunt I didn’t particularly like as an engagement present in 1981 still used & doesn’t look its age.

An interesting thread. I still use my ironing board that was given to us as a wedding present 56 years ago and was second hand then. It is still going strong as is my garlic press that was also given as a wedding present at the same time. I have tried to renew my garlic press but always revert to the original. Things are not made to last like they used to be.

My Gran left me her Royal Calton dinner set from around 1930 when she had married my grandfather. I love that it's so colourful! It gets used when our adult kids visit on special occasions, but not this year as we ate alone.

I also have her cast-iron soup pot in which a hough of ham is now simmering and her bread knife which is still used daily. Thank you Nany.

I’m using my mil bread knife which she always had even in 1977 when I first met my hubby.

Oh dear yes. Le Creuset is for the fit.
I was trying to remember the name of 4 smallish shallow round Le C dishes with ears. Don't know why I couldn't remember as it's not complicated. Gratin dishes. Haven't gratined for a while

Mine is an Ironing board too from my first marrage in 1975. It's been with me ever since.

My large Pyrex mixing bowl, only one left from the set, bought by Grandparents in for wedding in 1966. Lasted longer than the marriage 😂.

I have a large glass vase which was a wedding present to my mother just before the start of WW2. Still used for bigger bunches or the odd bouquet - it’s a perfect shape.
