Do you make them? I used to have a list of maybe 5 or more..now am down to 3...

Repair my 21 yr old car or, buy a new USED model..which scares me as not confident in going for test drives

Decluter totally my kitchen...it a mess...

Lose at least 2 stone or 28 kgs..

What are yours or, do you not bother?

sunbar

I have been in the fitness business for a long time and boy have I got New Year's resolution stories for you. The best story is one I saw recently from a very funny friend who shared a post that said:

"I'm opening a gym on New Year's Day and I'm gonna keep it open for two months and then I'm gonna turn it into a bar (in USA or or as you would say: "pub".)

🤣🤣

smile thank you

JaneJudge please don’t feel inferior - we are all unique human beings and know that when you leave/retire, life goes on but at a different pace.. don’t burn yourself out…
So your resolution would be
I’m not going to be taken advantage of🤞

JaneJudge Sun 04-Jan-26 14:00:30

I know that feeling well!

Bea65 Sun 04-Jan-26 13:56:50

🙏 I would have continued to work till forever but, my immediate line manager was 23!!!

JaneJudge Sun 04-Jan-26 13:11:27

everyone always takes advantage of me because I have an inferiority complex Bea. I think it is partly my fault but thank you for reading my moan!

Bea65 Sat 03-Jan-26 15:48:53

JaneJudge. Re work …you sound like how I was during my last few years at work …I cared too much and wasn’t appreciated at times…

Hope you return to work feeling more confident and upbeat - you sound very productive and professional ..maybe they are taking advantage of you?

JaneJudge Sat 03-Jan-26 13:07:12

V3ra that's a really good idea smile

I am going to start selling on vinted, so this might be a good way to start.

I am going to try to be more sustainable, buy less plastic, try to cook every meal from scratch- something I used to do when money was tight and we were much healthier. I already do a lot of exercise but I could do with watching what I eat more too.

This might be controversial but I'm going to care less about work. The youngsters they just come in (or not in some cases), do their hours and go home. I seem to chase my own tail, say yes to everything, get in early, go home late. I think it's about time I stopped this and just do what is asked within my job description, in fact I'm going to ask my boss what they actually want from me and just do that so I know I'm doing my job properly.

These aren't really resolutions

There was always something popped up in daily life to get in the way.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Jan-26 12:59:22

Dont really bother any more as life always scuppers them.

I've hardly had time to think this year with major house renovations going on and work, so this year I've resolved to resume my interests and try to catch up on friends.

My Number One NY resolution is to clear out at least 50% of my clothes - I can't believe the rail in my wardrobe hasn't snapped in two by now!

Justkeepswimming... I've recently turned all the hangers in my wardrobe the wrong way round, so the hook is facing forwards.
As I wear a garment it gets put back with the hook facing the normal backwards way.
Over the months it's a simple way to see what you actually wear and what just hangs there, cluttering the space up.

JustkeepswimmingDonna - I took up Pilates last year and it is by far the most useful type of exercise I've ever done. In the past I've done weight training, cardio, and yoga, which are all great, but it has been Pilates which I feel has been the most beneficial for my body. Even after the first couple of sessions I noticed I had more core strength and less of a tummy. My posture is better, too.

There are some things in Pilates I don't do that well but I shall keep persevering.

Let us know how you find your new class!

I do make resolutions and have a thing about starting the new year in the best way possible. So when my husband was alive we always checked up on bills before new years eve and got paid up to date as much as possible so that we tried to start the new year owing no one, well ordinary bills at any rate. Then we used to look back over the year on new years eve, and while we would make plans on what jobs were needed to be given priority, we really spent more time looking back at who we had managed to see in the year, and planned on meeting up with old friends and going to new places as and when we could afford it.So although alone now, I do make resolutions, mostly mundane practical ones of sorting out drawers, making notes of anything I need moving that I cant manage now, ready to ask my son when he visits to move stuff around and then the biggest thing to look forward to is what opportunities there are to visit friends and get out and about. To buy the Yellow Book and plan to visit as many gardens as possible and to keep breathing!!

What type of club is it Dottydots ?

My New Year resolution is to read 49 books this year. I will need to read one book a week for the year. I decided on less than 52 to allow for any colds (which I hope I don't get but I had three different bouts last year which wiped me out).

So far, so good with the resolution. I'm on course to finish my current book by next Thursday.

Mind you, the last five years have been pretty dreadful, both emotionally and financially. I have decided that 2026 will be fantastic!

It’s a very English custom. I was brought up more French than English, and things like Christmas stockings and NY resolutions never came up.
Personally, I think they are pointless. If you want to improve your life, you can do it in February or October, it doesn’t matter. (Now put tin hat on!)

To start driving again. Haven't driven for over a year as every time I've decided to again I've been ill again with another chest infection.
To put on weight as I'm not eating enough as I have a poor appetite
To go for a walk every day when the weather improves and it's not so cold.
To finish my knitted blanket
To clean one room at a time thoroughly including decluttering

Casdon

I’ve just made one this year. Every day when I’m at home I’m going to do one of my procrastitasks. It’s a long list. So far so good.

procrastitasks
Oh what a great name!!

This could keep me going for some time 😁

My Number One NY resolution is to clear out at least 50% of my clothes - I can't believe the rail in my wardrobe hasn't snapped in two by now!
And I want to meditate more (ideally daily). And start Pilates once a week.
