Happy NewYear to every single Gransnetter.

Thinking of you if you’re having a bad, low time.

Cheering you on if you’re celebrating, hugs if you’re not.

Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy 2026 and thanking you all for being here and participating and supporting and sharing.

For those of you who are “woke”, (like me), let’s make this the wokiest year yet.

Onwards and upwards

smile flowers 💫 🫶 🙏

LilyFox -
God Bless all of you in the Ukraine.
And may He Bless the Palestinians as well .
We are living in a terrible dog eat dog world.

Indiebee Thu 08-Jan-26 14:52:38

Thank you LilyFox. Are you Ukrainian? I feel so helpless over here in the UK concerning the Russian invasion. I can't believe Putin wants to take the Donbas in exchange for 'peace' (ha ha). I hope you are able to have a happy new year.

Happy New Year GNs - there are so many wise, thoughtful, fun and caring people here. Hang on in there in the times and places of difficulty. Celebrate the joys, large and small. Keep us all posted. We are here for eachother.

Happy new year to all GN's and thanks for the interest and concern you have all shown over the year. May 2026 see us all keeping in touch and who knows maybe we could try and get to meet for coffee in our general areas, or if we travel to pastures new might meet up with Gn's from other areas. May we all start the year looking forward with hope and anticipation of something good coming our way

Happy and healthy 2026 to you and yours - cheers 🥂 xx

May your 2026 be all that you wish for yourself and more.

Shelflife - do take care of YOU too. And ask for help. My local group has a regular music session and they play music for the relevant age group for example, and run the odd tea dance.

Shelf life, I know how you feel. Even five years after the death of mynDH, who had Lewy Body dementia, I still feel guilty that perhaps I wasn’t always kind enough to him. As you say, you now don’t have the same person as before. My DH had such delusions that life was very difficult, and I couldn’t always be calm and loving. Keep reminding yourself that you’re doing your best in a difficult situation that’s unavoidable.
Wishing all Gransnetters good health in the year ahead, and strength to carry on in stressful times.

Glad you are feeling a bit better today Shelflife . I hope you manage to find a little time to yourself to recharge your batteries. Caring for someone full time is mentally and physically exhausting no matter how much you love them.

Wishing you both all the best.

Shelflife Thu 01-Jan-26 13:13:15

Grannywanny, I appreciate your responses. My DH s hearing loss has been going on for a long time ( long before his diagnosis) he eventually had a test and a hearing aid - which he refuses to wear !! So I know wax is not the problem. I also know that if hearing loss is not corrected it greatly increases someone developing dementia. He is 87 in a few days and I gave given up on expecting him to wear his aid. He is convinced I don't speak clearly enough!! I spend a lot of time repeating myself because he can't hear me or can't understand. Either way it is exhausting!!
Last night I was feeling very low so thankyou for responding, today I am feeling much better. Just sad that after 51 years of marriage I am in danger of losing the man I love.

Happy new year to you all. You keep me thinking and laughing at times.

Happy New Year to all on gransnet. I wish you a happy and healthy 2026

Cossy Thu 01-Jan-26 11:40:43

Shelflife

Thankyou Grannynanny. It is difficult as he is in denial about his diagnosis and his deafness. We have been married 51 years and I love him dearly but I am slowly losing him! and feel myself beginning to disengage from him and think I am not as nice as I thought I was!! I should be more understanding but it is so distressing when my reliable man is at times unreasonable and irrational. Feeling sad just now , apologies for off loading on New Years Eve! I appreciate your kind response.
A new year now and I will endeavour to make 2026 good one .

Please don’t feel this way about yourself.

Dementia is a dreadful and horrible condition and affects those close by so dreadfully.

Be kind to yourself, and always remember you’re not alone even if we are only here virtually flowers

Shelflife Thu 01-Jan-26 10:43:25

Thanks Nannyjan. Its not easy is it!?
