It’s not all party, party, Jools Holland, Auld Lang Syne, fireworks and champagne at midnight is it?
As we look back at 2025 and further, there is the inevitable sadness at loss, nostalgia perhaps for opportunities missed and regret that those days are gone.
I read this today and it gave me pause for thought.
How many shed a tear at midnight?
I do however wish you all good things for 2026 and good health to enjoy having those you love - near and far.

A sad poem although this is reality for many.
Do you know who wrote it RosiesMawagain?

I think I’ve always been conscious of the way the world carries on regardless of our own personal joys and tragedies. Maybe because I encountered family deaths from an early age and the way the waters closed over after a while and life went on.
I did spend yesterday going through some momentoes I’ve kept, remembering and wishing I’d done better😢

More cheerily though, I think I still am counted on, even if it’s only financial. When I realised last year that I wasn’t going to have to worry about provision for extreme old age ( which I had been doing) I decided that I would
a) spend my monthly income on whatever I wanted ( cue 6 pairs of new shoes in bright colours)
b) having done that give away whatever was left over each month to somebody’s need - personal or organisation

I can’t tell you the fun and pleasure I’ve had from both of those. I like to think the local beauty place relies on income from me to keep going! Not unseen and definitely not untouched - in all senses of the word🙂

I think there could be some relief in not being so needed, it’s a time maybe to blossom as just ourselves.
Happy New Year to all 🎉
