Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and cold outside with a light covering of snow on the ground here in Brackley this morning.
Hopefully plan to do my usual routine with a bus trip to Bicester and see people I know etc.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy at the moment, barely above freezing and I was surprised to see a few flakes of snow settling on the car! We have warnings of snow showers but the weather maps show clear skies for us. Who knows what it will do!
Thank you everyone for your messages of support yesterday . I kept myself busy most of the time. I went for my usual walk and spent a little time helping one of my dog walking friends pick up some of the mess left by the people setting off fireworks in the recreation ground. Some sticks from rockets and lots of cardboard bits from the big fireworks, probably not good for dogs to pick up.

Welcome back Marzipan22 I’ve missed your posts from Cornwall and am so pleased you are now better and able to resume your Lego wrangling! Looking forward to hearing about your bus journeys around Cornwall soon.

Like others, I’m finding it hard to get to grips that today is Friday, every day this week has felt like the weekend.
I’ll leave the Christmas tree up until the weekend but will leave the outside lights in the back garden as i like to see them sparkling in the dark.

Have the best day possible everyone, please take care if you have to go out, and stay warm.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve snow and it’s very cold, more snow in the forecast for today
Yesterday we tidied away all the Christmas decorations, I’m sure we’ll find something we’ve missed today though! Not sure about our plans for today yet, we should really go for a walk but will see how icy it is
Lovely to have you back with us Marzipan
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from Malta where it looks damp, gloomy and the high is forecast at 16°C. It feels colder inside than out.

I’m late waking up after another very good night’s sleep. Since having the flu I have slept better than I have in years!

How lovely to see you posting Marzipan. You were missed.🤗

I didn’t do much yesterday and expect today will be more of the same although I ought to go to Lidl to restock a few things.

I had no appetite whilst I was unwell and so I have had to throw out a few things that had gone well past their best before date. I hate waste but am not risking making myself sick again.

I need to pay my car tax and insurance but it can wait until next week.

I’m also hoping the premium bonds come up with a nice New Year present. Highly unlikely but you never know! I didn’t do too badly last year but no big wins.

Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing. ☀️

Good morning from a frosty W Kent. Off to the supermarket asap as I am hosting the family on Sunday and DB is back with us tomorrow
Welcome back marzipan

Gagagran Fri 02-Jan-26 07:58:40

Good Morning everyone from a 3c south coast. No sign of the white stuff here but it's rare that we see anything more than a bit of sleet.

The Tesco delivery is due imminently but disappointingly there are several items missing. They are usually spot on with everything but I suppose there were a lot of people in store yesterday, doing the same restocking that I am trying to do!
Might need to venture forth to the store after the weekend - when is that again? It's felt like it's been here for the past two weeks!

Nice to see you back here Marzipan and look forward to reading of your exploits in beautiful Cornwall. Have you managed to keep your mountainous garden in order whilst convalescing?

Kind regards to all on the sick list or caring for loved ones on it. May 2026 be a better year.

EkwaNimitee Fri 02-Jan-26 08:06:25

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, freezing Carlisle. It's -2°C here currently.

Very pleased to see you Marzipan...I've been wondering what happened to you and hoped you were OK.

Yesterday was a busy day with laundry and general sorting out of stuff plus I finished my book. I ought to start another, I have received more over Christmas.
I also had phone chats with my brother and sister who I only get to see once a year. I am the only one of us who travels about and I'm the oldest!
I went for a walk mid-morning, there had obviously been a light frost and it was nippier than I'd thought. Quite a few dog walkers were about but also families with little ones trying out the bikes Santa had brought.

Today, there's still laundry to fettle and cupboards to revise. And Christmas cake to eat.....part of me wishes I hadn't made it, there's only me to eat it. It may be a small one but I need it like a hole in the head! Need to try and lose weight though it's practically impossible when you're on steroids. However, I've never not made a Christmas cake since I married and it's hard to think of stopping.

I'm another who keeps feeling it's a weekend, roll on Monday!

Best wishes to you all.

Grandmabatty Fri 02-Jan-26 08:09:46

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° with a coating of snow which has frozen. The forecast is for more. Marzipan22 how lovely to see you posting! Welcome back.
I had a very quiet day yesterday with no visitors. It suited me as I had a bad leg day and spent a lot of time lying down in between watching Back to the Future films. I didn't have my steak pie either as I didn't feel like cooking.
My leg is still painful so I won't be going out today. I expect I might see the family at some point. So today I'll potter about the house. Have a good day all.

GillyMo Fri 02-Jan-26 08:12:12

Good morning from a snow-free Kent. Looks like a beautiful day with blue skies at the moment.
Yesterday was a lazy day. I got on with some knitting but unfortunately was too enthusiastic with pressing a little knitted doll's dress so I've ended up with a very silky garment rather than the more chunky type I wanted. That's my fault for being lazy and not blocking it properly.
Yesterday evening DH and I went to one of our favourite restaurants for dinner. Was surprised how busy it was.
I am going to take the Christmas tree down today and pack away the Christmas decorations.

Kalu Fri 02-Jan-26 08:12:48

Good morning all. Dry and sunny is the forecast for Glasgow today.

I am looking forward to meeting up with friends along with my cousin for lunch. We have been friends since primary school, all grandmothers now but we all find time for catch ups.

Lovely to see you back Marzipan and pleased to hear you have recovered well.

Best wishes to all for a good day and hopefully some respite for those struggling through difficult times.

Jaxjacky Fri 02-Jan-26 08:14:31

Morning from a chilly S Hants, the first post Christmas bin collection has just been, a long wait.
Good to see you Marzipan pleased you’ve recovered ready for more adventures.
I had a better sleep, it does make such a difference, friend visiting this morning and I’m treating my staff (MrJ and son) to Chinese takeaway, it’s my son’s birthday too.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from a bright very chilly Suffolk where we have a slight frost but no snow. There was a beautiful sunset last night with a sky of bright reds and purples.

I’m going to visit my dear friend having respite care later . Having started to walk round the home using a frame she is more confident about going home in just under 2 weeks and said in a message yesterday that her future looks brighter. I’m so pleased and relieved for her.

Hope those experiencing the worst of this wintry weather stay warm and safe.

Ashcombe Fri 02-Jan-26 08:19:01

Good morning from an erstwhile frosty Torbay but no snow although DH thought he saw a brief sleet shower yesterday.

I was slower than others on the uptake when reading your post, Marzipan22 and thought, “I wonder if she’s met Mizuna in the Lego library sessions!” Obviously you know her very well!! It’s so good to have you back!

Yes, we enjoyed the lovely NY concert from Vienna, too. DH is really unwell with this cold and decamped to the recliner in the lounge at 4.00am this morning. It doesn’t seem to have reached me so I’m able to run round after him - he’s done as much for me when necessary in the past year.

Have a good day, especially the mountaineers. 🦩💐🥰💐🦩

ginny Fri 02-Jan-26 08:22:23

Good morning from N.Bucks. Our forecast is for clear skies with low temperatures. Frost this morning but no snow, thank goodness.
No particular plans for today . We will try to get out for a bit of a walk and then I’ll settle to some drawing and painting.
Thoughts with those are poorly or troubled and a good day wished for all.

brook2704 Fri 02-Jan-26 08:25:40

A very Happy Birthday to your son Jax, hope you’re doing ok and good to hear you’re being so well looked after 💐

Jaxjacky Fri 02-Jan-26 08:28:52

Thanks brook 🙂

Susan56 Fri 02-Jan-26 08:58:24

Good morning from Shropshire.A light frost. The forecast says it’s snowing at the moment but it’s not!

We will take the decorations down today. We normally wait for twelfth night but a busy few days ahead means it would be another week if we don’t do it today.

Good to see you Marzipan. You are sounding better Jax, hope your recovery is going well now with no more setbacks.

I hope Georgesgran is ok💐

Thoughts with everyone struggling with ill health and other worries.Grandmabatty I hope today is a better day for you and your leg is less painful.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

dragonfly46 Fri 02-Jan-26 09:00:48

Another day of the same here in Leicestershire. Took the decorations down yesterday so the house is tidier. It is tricky with DH sleeping downstairs so hoping when the physios come on Monday they will start with the stairs. He is very mobile with his frame though.

Lovely to see you back Marzipan I missed your posts from Cornwall.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Grandmabatty Fri 02-Jan-26 09:04:22

Susan thank you. You're very kind. I hope you have a good day x

Marydoll Fri 02-Jan-26 09:07:55

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 1•C, with sun predicted.
Thank goodness we have no snow, we get stuck in when it doess snow due to the position of our house. We often get stuck in for days. 😔

Marzipan, I recognised you straight away! Welcome back.

Yesterday it was heartening to see our church full of people. I told DH, that weekday Mass lasts only twenty minutes and he was happy with that. It lasted an hour, the P.P. indulged himself, with a long sermon.
I think he thought it was Sunday.😄

I did little for the rest of the day, my lung infection isn't clearing, despite the stronger antibiotics.
Feeling a little sorry for myself, I sat down to watch some You Tube videos of Christmas markets.
I was enjoying a video,of Kracow Christmas Market, thinking the music was very similar to our new door bell sound.
It was the actual door bell. 😂
Dollie with her parents had cycled down to wish us a Happy New Year,
They didn't stay long , as they were also going next door, then home.
Poor Dollie was complaining of a sore leg in the hope of a lift home from me. Her parents were having none of it!:😂

Today is another day of rest. Overdoing things I can't help it has partly been the reason, I am so unwell. I am my own worst enemy,

I wish you all a pleasant day and stay safe, those who are travelling.
As always my best wishes to my fellow mountaineers and those who care for them. 💕

Cressy Fri 02-Jan-26 09:11:26

Good morning from my corner of Cheshire. Haven’t looked out of the window yet but hoping the ground is clear. Taking the DGDs to a show in Manchester this afternoon and I hate driving in icy conditions. I had hoped to drive to DD’s house where she would take over but her car failed it’s MoT yesterday. I’ll probably annoy all the SUV drivers ( car of choice in this area 🤨) driving behind me. 🤷‍♀️

Gingster Fri 02-Jan-26 09:17:03

Good morning all. Very cold , a little frost but no snow here in Essex. I doubt that we’ll get any here.🌨️.

Yesterday the ‘whirlwind’ (ds1) arrived early and was already taking down the outside lights before I knew he was here. Dh was still snoozing.
DS worked solidly for two hours taking down, packing away and up and down to the loft, with me in his wake .🚶‍♀️ Then dusting, hoovering and generally tidying up. A quick cup of coffee and he was away 💨💨💨. I was exhausted 🤣.

He’s back to work today, so that will give his poor wife a day to just breathe.

Today we’ll meet our Friday pals for nibbles and drinks. I hope Dh is up to it. He’s not been great since Christmas.

Dd should hear today when we are able to go to the Panto after our silly timing mistake on Wednesday. 🤞

Lovely to hear from Marmalade22. Ive missed your interesting posts and glad you have recovered well from your op.

Thoughts to all struggling, one way or another. 🤝

Grammaretto Fri 02-Jan-26 09:23:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's cold.

Lovely to see Marzipan posting again.
Sorry you are still in pain with your leg Grandmabatty

Not too much on here today. Keeping warm, a walk maybe. It's a Bank Holiday in Scotland.

Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Fri 02-Jan-26 09:31:59

So sorry I called you Marmalade 🤯. I was just having marmalade on toast with my cuppa. 😂.
Glad to see you back Marzipan22. 👋

harrigran Fri 02-Jan-26 09:40:12

Good morning from a dry, cold and very windy NE.
DD, SIL and I watched the concert from Vienna before a light lunch yesterday.
DS, DIL and GD2 arrived early afternoon and we had coffee and cake.
GD had spent the week revising, she has her mocks when she returns to school.
We had duck for dinner except for DD who had pretend duck breast.
GD played the piano and DD joined her to play the duet Dolly suite by Faure.
DD played some more favourite pieces particularly Debussy and then finished with a Queen number which happens to be a Grade 6 piece.
We joined the rest of the family for coffee and sweeties and set to Googling holiday cottages. We found a lovely one in Yorkshire and booked it there and then. That's my 80th birthday sorted.
Holiday with DS and family not booked yet but we are thinking Wales again because we really love spending time there.
I now have an empty until Monday so will be taking down the decorations and packing them ready for the attic.
Have a good day.

Susan56 Fri 02-Jan-26 10:22:07

Just had a disappointing message from DD.She can’t find our tickets to Matilda the musical tomorrow so like you Gingster our theatre trip may not happen😢
