Gushing Gratitude From Eon.......

Well, they sorted out my complaint pronto. And so I emailed back "Thank you".

Back came the response "You're welcome. That is music to my ears!"

Now, was that a dose of sarcasm or had the Customer Services minion been overdosing on the sweet sherry over the festive season?

Ha! Ha! Ha!

Probably just very grateful to get a polite thank you!

I agree with AGAG4 - I doubt many people bother to thank them. Customer Services is often thankless, doing it remotely is probably more so.

I think someone was delighted to be thanked after receiving so much verbal from other people.

I think you are taking this response very unkindly. What a good thing that the person who thaanked you did not know the recipientwould be so disparaging about it.

From experience, very few people ever both to compliment on a job well done…….they’re far more likely to complain though. Hence, the Customer Service call takers comment.
And minion I’d rather derogatory IMO .

Anyone who has had the misfortune to work directly with the general public would know that for every one grateful person there are usually at least 50 who are indifferent and 10 who are downright rude.

Having worked with the GP in a wide variety of settings, I can confirm that actual gratitude was like the sun coming out briefly from behind a cloud or "Music to my ears."
