It’s been a terrible day here. Lots of people losing their homes to bushfires and so hot it took your breath away. No fires near us but hectares and hectares of burning land and people having to be evacuated. I think I’d rather have ice and snow all things considered.

I think the storm is coming in later tonight? I have to do a night shift so will be indoors anyway.
I agree that weathermen seem to often exaggerate wild weather.

As do the media, never letting the facts get in the way of a good story.
Apart from learning a lesson from Michael Fish, are they spreading fear and alarm so that, expecting the worst, anything less is a bonus?
Or is it a not-so-subtle attempt to control the population by fear?
I don’t think, as a generation, we do ourselves any favours by conniving, by huddling indoors afraid to go out, by sharing horror-stories about the dreadful conditions ahead as if we have never faced far worse in the past.

I feel rather disappointed.

Waiting for the ice grippers for my shoes to arrive. Went out yesterday, very icy. Saw two people with big, black boots on one foot, presumably to heal broken bones. Even icier today.

That's exactly what I did, Oreo, and my journey was uneventful!
However, at Paddington station there were plenty of announcements about cancellations of trains to Cornwall.
Trains to the valleys were ceased from Cardiff.

We have snow here now but tomorrow we have a hospital appointment so will have to turn out. Just hope the consultant turns up.

I find the Rochester Ginger drink (with the kick of two angry mules) is even better - even though it is non-alcoholic. It's cheaper and you can drink as much as you like without affecting your balance.

Some light rain has just started here but the air is still, so far.

We have heavy snow here in our part of Birmingham

We drove home from Llandudno and the weather was not too bad.Light rain and sleet.As we pulled onto the drive heavy snow started and in a very short time everything is white and getting deeper.It was like a snow explosion😫

Don't think my Boss be too chuffed If I ring and say I won't be in because of the weather.

Nothing happened so far re the storm ( east Anglia )

It’s started snowing in mid Wales, it’s coming down quite hard, and it’s settling on the grass, it’s been raining since about 2pm, so the roads are wet still, rather than snowy. The wind has definitely picked up too, I can hear it down the chimney. I have a feeling that the Met Office have it right this time, for here at least.

It’s now windy and pouring down ☹️ but must get ready for work, at least it will be warm there, usually too warm.

I had an emergency alert practice on my mobile at about 3.00. Very nearly jumped out of my skin as I wasn't expecting it and the phone was close to me.
We are near the Thames so it may be a practice flood warning.
I shall have my torch and mobile close to hand at all times tonight.

Yesterday was pretty slippery with the black ice, so far today it started raining more heavily but the dogs had their walk an hour ago and we’re all snug and warm.
I don’t think we’ll get the previously predicted snow here (south Glos), just rain and wind.

The snow here is only just melting. Foggy at the moment but snow was supposed to start at 3pm. Nothing so far. I will be very happy if they have gone ott with the forecast. Would like to get rid of the snow we still have.

Dark, wet and a breeze picking up, here in SWWales. Forecast however is not too bad. We shall see.

I have also just received an email from my Electricity providers warning of the storm and extreme snowfall.
Keep candles, torches etc ready, charge phones and other devices.
It seems so random as it is very still, much warmer and no problems.
Are they alarmist or am I complacent?

I think they probably have over warned us actually, but maybe better that way round. but I've got a friend in Aberdeen and its been horrific for days and days, we probably will get off lightly and a cosy day in tomorrow.

The kids opposite are more than ready for a day of snow, they bent my ear about it yesterday.

They had worked out and told me Very Seriously of the % likelihood of staying off school after an exhaustive internet search. One had a T shirt on!

It was named The Great Storm, to be fair. 🌬🌫

I caught the bus into town this morning to do some serious bargain hunting while the sales are still on. It was so bitterly cold outside and not much better inside the shopping centre, so I gave up after an hour and went home, having bought nothing at all.

Like Jaxjacky I’m due to get the storm later on this evening and into tomorrow. Thankfully I’m now home after a cinema trip this morning and don’t intend to venture out tomorrow.

The only threat to life and limb this morning was an absolute soaking while queuing to pay for the car park. 😡
Why don’t some people write their car registration numbers somewhere handy when they clearly don’t know it! 😩😩
