Things in the news that are obvious... To me anyway

In my Canadian province, EVERY driver has to have a basic eye test when they get their driver's license. It's not as comprehensive an exam as you would receive from an optometrist; they do it in the registry office with a little device.

I wonder if it's possible that what they mean is that drivers over 70 should have an eye test every time they renew their license. (We do not have to have the test redone when we renew our license, just when we get it initially.)

The number of times it was reported that A&E was inundated after the icy weather, even showing a poor man with a broken limb saying how he had slipped on the ice.
I doubt very much that anyone considered this news.

I agree with your thoughts on the above subjects.

My latest thoughts:

Trump is a nutjob, trying to take over Greenland and condoning the shooting of the protester in Minneopolis (when they could have easily just shot at her tyres.)

Rural pubs in danger of closing if the drink-drive limit is lowered:
Are we grown ups or what? What's wrong with having a designated driver who steers clear of alcohol on that occasion? What's wrong with pubs serving the designated driver with a complimentary 'mocktail' or alcohol free beer. Guinness Zero for example... If one of the party can't manage without an alcoholic drink, they can have one when they get home and make sure it's someone else's turn to be TT next time! Grow up!

Over 70s compulsory eye test:
Good grief! What's wrong with that? Why not make it compulsory for everyone applying for a driving licence to have their eyes tested? Why not make reading a number plate from 20metres part of the driving test? Poor eyesight isn't restricted to over 70s!

My biggest beef (though not in the news or illegal. Just utterly crazy! - does RoSPA still exist?):
Why can't people out walking after dark wear something light coloured or reflective? They wear dark clothing and walk their black dog and walk straight into the road! Do they seriously have a death wish?

What do GNers think is similarly obvious? What really gets your goat that seems obvious?
