I think we tend to read what we expect a phrase to say.
A well known example is -
Paris in the
the Spring.

I always read "Shopfitters at work" as "Shoplifters ..."

Either way it is a not the best sign for the surgery!

Hot tub - oh yes please, great service to offer!
Hot hub - some one advertising their hubbie!!
Hot hub - a keep warm place?

I read it as hot tub.

Oh I see what you mean Fallingstar. Locally we call this a Warm Space.

BlueBelle Wed 14-Jan-26 20:00:32

Well that’s a hot tub isn’t it Clickityclick I wondered what a hot hub is?

Fallingstar Wed 14-Jan-26 19:36:33

Greenfinch

I have never heard of a hot hub.

Is is maybe the name of a community centre where people can go and spend time in a heated area when they can’t afford to heat their homes?
The word hot 🥵 is a bit off putting though it sounds like a sauna.

I have never heard of a hot hub.

What I call an outside heated bath with bubbles. Never understood the attraction of sharing a bath AND outdoors!

BlueBelle Wed 14-Jan-26 19:30:06

I read Hot Hub but what is a hot hub ?

AmberGran Wed 14-Jan-26 19:27:08

Ha ha I read hot tub as well. Don't know if that's because you put it in my head or because I've never heard of a hot hub

Fallingstar Wed 14-Jan-26 19:24:28

I thought hot tub.

I've thought I've been away with the fairies this past week with my knitting (problem posted on another topic) and definitely thought so when I read this sign in the doctors surgery car park the other day. I read it as tub not hub and still see it as tub grin. Other gransnetters done similar?
