I've thought I've been away with the fairies this past week with my knitting (problem posted on another topic) and definitely thought so when I read this sign in the doctors surgery car park the other day. I read it as tub not hub and still see it as tub grin. Other gransnetters done similar?

I read hot tub as well!

Once, being very ill with a cold, I read the tiny print on the side of the medicine bottle, and went ahead and took 8 teaspoons of medicine.

After a very long sleep, I re-read the dosage, and it was the maximum daily dosage! Lucky I am here to tell the tale.

It could be a hub for treating infectious diseases, apparently, so best to steer clear.

Oh I see what you mean Fallingstar. Locally we call this a Warm Space.

Yes, it's known as a Warm Space here!

I misread something on GN the other day, was going to comment on what I thought it was, then realised.
Now I can't remember what it was!

Whenever I see a sign saying Menswear anywhere I always read it as Men swear. I'm not sure why.

As a child who could never go far without wanting a wee, I always became excited but then despondent when I saw TOLET signs.

It is the French Connection UK logo FCUK that gets me!

WithNobsOnIt Thu 15-Jan-26 15:21:51

I remember a few decades back. When DKNY designer clothes and fashion accessories were all the rage.
DKNY initials used as logo branding on their products.

An elderly aunt of mine said to me What is all this donkey clothing about all these young people are wearing nowadays.!

I think a hot hub is (well firstly a hot desk is a Desk that is not assigned to one person, its on a first come first served basis) so I think the hub is a place where they have these hot desks...its basically a system for companies that don’t have everyone in the office on the same day.. hopefully that makes sen…..

Hot hubs have come and gone. They were set up during COVID under special conditions to see home based COVID patients with medical problems. I think they have all now been closed down.

Our local authority still has these though they've mainly been renamed "Warm Spaces" and are situated in local Community Hubs and Libraries during winter, offering hot drinks, support, and a welcoming environment, alongside specific Health Outreach Team (HOT) services like health checks and advice in the Treaty Centre. These hubs, including venues like our local librarie, offer community connection, resources, and sometimes food or activities for residents needing a warm, safe place.

Often misread “shop fitters” as “shop “lifters”…

Ktsmum Thu 15-Jan-26 13:43:01

Driving up the motorway I saw a van that said Flirtation Engineer, I looked again, same thing, third time I looked I saw it was Filtration 🙄🙄

Oh my goodness, the thought of folks merrily stripping off to reveal cossies and 'budgies' as they walk into the reception!

Grammaretto Thu 15-Jan-26 09:50:13

I need a hot hub now!

Primrose53 Thu 15-Jan-26 09:36:27

I was reading a label on some medication the other day but I had my driving specs on. I squinted and read “keep away from chicken”. Then I realised.

Oldnproud Thu 15-Jan-26 09:30:14

Coworkers is the one that gets me - my first thought is always of people who work with cattle!

GoodAfternoonTea Thu 15-Jan-26 09:18:56

My late mother read Fybogel as bifocal. It was referred to thereafter as taking her daily bifocal!

That’s why, when sitting an exam, people are advised to always read the question twice because the first time your brain will read what it thinks it says not what it actually does say.
