Am embarrassed to say I feel quite chirpy🐥🎶😳

That's a good one, Casdon

ixion Mon 19-Jan-26 12:47:12

🤣

keepcalmandcavachon Mon 19-Jan-26 12:41:49

Thankyou Casdon, tittering my way through a gloriously grey murky Monday here!

Casdon Mon 19-Jan-26 12:34:59

Bah Humbug RosiesMawagain.

Have you tested Madeleine you sound like I did coming back from France with Covid as my principal souvenir.
Two weeks of feeling as if the stuffing has been knocked out of you on top of the fevers, coughing, aching joints and general misery.
But it passed.

A bit of a roundabout way of making the best of today. I am not feeling well, coughing and struggling, so the miserable grey day outside doesnt matter , except sorry for people who have planned a day out. I shall not be doing very much, but what I do will hopefully mean that the first day I feel a bit better, I can be off and out to enjoy it! If it stays miserable this afternoon I shall be closing the curtains early and curling up with a good book!

Call me awkward but I refuse to feel put down because somebody somewhere, possibly still overweight/hungover/not speaking to their family/STILL to get rid of their tree and decs/just got the final credit card bill, the car tax and all the insurances due- tells me this is Blue Monday.
Like Black Friday, which seemed to go on for about three weeks, what a load of tripe.
Tell everybody they’re depressed and chances are they will be.
There’s enough been going on in the world every day of the flipping week to feel blue about but as far as I’m concerned, I’m still here, nobody has been sick or poo’d on the carpet, and with (possibly cussed) optimism am looking forward to Turquoise Tuesday, Willow Pattern Wednesday, Polka dot Thursday, Tartan Friday and Sky Blue Pink Saturday. 🌈

Thanks Casdon!

Casdon Mon 19-Jan-26 11:47:57

I’ll keep trying, for those of us who want to smile today.

keepingquiet Mon 19-Jan-26 10:07:31

Yes, I prefer this one ixion, I saw it on my facebook feed this morning and thought it was a great message.

For me no amount of jokes will do it.

It's miserable, cold and foggy and I'm going to enjoy my wallowing in misery today...

ixion Mon 19-Jan-26 10:00:31

Hope this helps those having a bad day.

The Lone Ranger joke also does the rounds, or used to, as Sherlock and Watson.
Monday was only gloomy to me in my schooldays, as it was double maths first thing😬
When I started working it was just another day in the office, literally.
Now that I only work part time I find no day is any better than another or worse, but appreciate that I don’t have to rush off first thing and actually prefer an afternoon or evening shift.

Thank you for the laughs- new Book Club this afternoon which I am dreading. Its been booked into a dreary unwindow-less room in Tesco - what could be more dreary?

Aveline Mon 19-Jan-26 08:48:18

Thanks for this. DH still laughing at the Lone Ranger and Tonto story!

Ashcombe Mon 19-Jan-26 08:26:24

For those who’ve worked or volunteered in a school….

Casdon Mon 19-Jan-26 08:13:32

A music joke our generation will understand.

LesterGran Mon 19-Jan-26 07:54:54

May not be the funnies joke ever, but I love Blue Monday by New Order and that was immediately the first thing that came to my mind upon reading the post! I used it for a smartshow 3d video ones, maybe it's time to make a new one.

Here’s my joke

Grandmabatty Sun 18-Jan-26 22:25:13

😂

LauraNorderr Sun 18-Jan-26 21:51:54

I can’t top that Casdon. Laugh out loud funny.

Casdon Sun 18-Jan-26 21:14:05

The third Monday in January is allegedly the most gloomy day of the year - post some fun to cheer us all up!
