Good morning from another damp day here in Stockport.
I was taken out yesterday for the first time since new Years Day.
We just went to the nearby shopping outlet.
A coffee and a snack in M&S with a walk round the store tired me out and nothing was bought by me but I did manage to get my bank card unlocked, I don’t know how that has happened.
Because I was so tired I fell asleep when we were back, consequently a bad night was “enjoyed”.
I have a delivery today of Cook frozen meals, I am so tired at the moment and no desire to cook or plan meals so I have indulged in some ready meals so I always have something to hand and I feel they are at least decent.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a dry S E Essex.

Will attempt a class at the gym this morning.

This afternoon I have an opticians appointment, normal check up along with an AMD check hopefully no progression 🤞🏻

Apparently today is blue Monday odd as I think the entire month of January is blue and depressing

Good morning all from North Leicestershire.

I slept quite badly so feel a bit discombobulated this morning. I will take my time getting going but DH is off to the gym.

DS1 and his lovely partner are coming to check up on me this afternoon which will be lovely. His partner has recently become a step grandma which i think might make me a step, step great grandma - scary!!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Brook and Gillymo I am another one who is longing to get outside in the garden and the allotment again.

RosesandLilac Mon 19-Jan-26 07:30:41

Good morning, it’s very wet here in south Glos and yesterday’s thick fog didn’t lift all day.
I have a pile of ironing to do this morning but nothing else planned so will see how the day goes. I will get my acrylic paints out and do some dabbling I think, something random and see how it goes.
Hope you all have a good day 🌹

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. I assume it’s cloudy out because it’s very dark, fairly mild at 6 degrees. I went for s walk yesterday morning, saw very few people but passed the time of day with a couple of runners.

DD1 and family came over late morning bringing a Macdonald’s lunch with them. The DGDs found some Barbie dolls to undress and dress, the dolls were their mum’s and aunt’s, and all the clothes are from the 1980’s and look quite scruffy now. The girls seem quite happy with them so I won’t replace them, but may get some new ones for littlest when she asks to play with them.
No plans for today, but I’ll go out for a walk to get some fresh air.

grandmattie enjoy the Scottish dancing.
grandmabatty sorry you had a bad night and hope your poor leg improves during the day.

I had my usual phone catchup with my friend in Kent. She was feeling unwell for a variety of reasons, including a replacement hip which hasn’t gone as well as hoped. She still has to use crutches 6 months after the operation. She was obviously on my mind as it took several hours for me to go to sleep last night.

bellasnana, enjoy the tennis and the cat!
Have as good day as possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Jan-26 07:23:10

Safe journey home Brook
Both boys have been up since half six. Dgs2 is hyper again. Send cake

Good morning everyone from DD1s in Cambridge, it’s still dark and I think it’s dry outside
I’m heading home today, I’m going to go into Cambridge centre this morning, have a look around the shops and then get a direct train to Gatwick this afternoon. My flight isn’t until this evening so I’ve lots of time to gradually get there, hopefully it’ll be a straightforward journey
I’m also looking forward to getting back outside in the garden gillymo I’m lost without it during the winter
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning. Looks like another damp dull day forecast for N.Bucks.
DH is keeping his fingers crossed that he can play golf later this morning.
I shall have a morning of house jobs and then off to lunch with 3 friends.
Some sketching will follow this evening to keep up with a challenge.
Wishing you all a good day with a smile along the way.

Good morning everyone from a dark and damp Northampton, rain forecast throughout the day.
Yoga this morning followed by coffee.

A good day at the office yesterday for my rugby team against a Welsh team, Scarlets, who were a tricky team to beat, but we came out on top 43-28. A large number of their fans made the journey up from Wales, and they were in very good voice, entertaining us with renditions of Bread of Heaven, Sosban Fach and more! The stadium was packed, the rain held off and it wasn't too cold. (I did partake of a hot Sloe Gin Toddy!) We are now through to the next round of the European Cup, and will be playing Castres at home.

No plans really for the rest of the day after yoga, will read the paper, attempt the daily puzzle page and read or knit.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Search function..
Has anybody had problems with the search function on gransnet?
I've never been able to make it work until now.
Apparently I had disabled some Google cookie functions so i restored them to see if that might work...and yes success!
The only problem was I could only seem to do that if I subscribed under a different name each time I tried.. grr!
I vaguely remember other people mention his a while back so thought it might be useful..
I was gardenoma and tuinoma.

Good morning Mick and everyone.
My daughter is taking me to Sainsbury's this morning. Before I moved here Sainsbury's and Waitrose were a five minutes walk from home.
I really miss the convenience.
This afternoon I'm going to The Monday Club. My first time. It's a fund raising Bring and Buy sale today. Normally a variety of talks.
Good to see grandMattie posting.
I hope to see Marydol soon.
As ever my thoughts are with all for whom life is challenging. flowers

Good morning from a dry and peaceful Sarthe hence we’re late awakening!

We’ve had a quiet weekend as we’re both quite tired from disturbed nights when we were unwell earlier this month. The darkness and peacefulness of the bedroom here encourage late waking!

On Saturday I managed to complete my tax return online which is a good job done as it was due at the end of this month.

Your DGD sounds delightful, Marzipan! Lovely photo.

Hope this is a good week for all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from Kent where it is a little cooler today; six degrees.

Yesterday I did some gardening. I swept the greenhouse and started weeding. I pulled up the last remaining leeks and we had them roasted for dinner. So happy to get back in the garden. It has been a wet winter and it's still muddy conditions.

Today I plan to do a little more in the garden if it doesn't rain.

Have a good day all.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I'm going out with the walking group today. It begins in Roslin Glen so some uphills.

Nice to see you back gMattie Enjoy your dancing. Mine is on Thursday with a Burns' lunch before.

Last night I saw I Swear the film about Tourettes. It's a weepy.

It was good to read Dragonfly's better news yesterday.

Hoping everyone has some joy today.

Greyduster Mon 19-Jan-26 06:43:37

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is damp and foggy again. The fog never lifted here yesterday until the sun went down. I had a very sedentary day indoors as it was pointless to go out for a drive or a walk. I did some ironing and sorted out some photos on my iPad.
Today will also be weather dependent.
Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Mon 19-Jan-26 06:31:17

Good morning from s somerset, showers, dull sky and fog this morning

A lot was achieved yesterday, quiet and steady, including a nice cheery log fire, I only burnt 3 small logs but it was enough to counteract the grey skies and rain

Craft group today but first I may well finish my skirt, I do love the chat with my friends, they haven`t a negative bone between them. We have a couple of birthdays to celebrate, including one of 90

Have a good day

Marzipan22 Mon 19-Jan-26 06:17:06

How unusual gM!

grandMattie Mon 19-Jan-26 06:03:09

Marzipan, I’ve just looked up the author and apparently, her name “Richmal” was melded from her two GP’s names - Richard and Mary (mal)…

Marzipan22 Mon 19-Jan-26 05:52:21

Good morning from a dark, damp but mild Cornwall.

No travels yesterday. No sorting either - so much for good intentions! 😉 I crocheted and read and jigsawed and just generally flolloped. Very nice. Today I'm off to collect my granddaughter from school later - after a trip to the University which is very vaguely en route - because she's asked to come to my place for a catch up, even though it involves a bus journey and she'll only be here for a couple of hours. I think she's missing me.

Here she is out hacking in the winter sun yesterday with the new riding school she's joined. Lovely long, low shadows of that time of day, and a beautiful sturdy pony by the looks of it.

(My son and I were surprised to discover that the writer of the Just William books was a woman. Not that it matters two hoots, it's just funny that both he and I assumed all these years that Richmal was a man's name. I expect everyone else knew. Every day brings its little surprises. 😂)

Good morning from Sheffield.
We ended up braving the rain and walking part of the Monsal trail. A disused railway with tunnels to walk through . Enjoyed it even with the rain.

grandMattie the Scottish dancing sounds very exciting. At my WI tomorrow we have a talk from a Beefeater. His main job was looking after the Crown Jewels.

Take care everyone flowers

Bellasnana Mon 19-Jan-26 05:48:28

Good morning from Malta where we have a severe wind warning of up to force 9 gales and a high of 13°C.

Had a rather lazy day yesterday, it’s difficult to move with a cat on your lap and I hate to disturb him!

More tennis this morning then I need to clean the flat which won’t take long. I doubt if I shall be going out as I detest wind.

Good to have order restored with your post grandMattie.🤗

Wishing everyone a good day.☀️

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Jan-26 05:42:35

GrandMattie Scottish country dancing is very vigorous! I hope they're all prepared. Of course it is Robert Burns day on 25th, so societies workd wide are celebrating.

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Jan-26 05:39:43

Good morning from Polmont where it's currently 2° and damp. Mick Enjoy your day.
Yesterday I had a fairly quiet day pottering about until dd arrived with the boys. They had been at soft play and were quite hyper. They didn't stay too long and she took all her washed and dried clothes away so my house no longer resembles a laundry.
I had another bad sleep. A combination of nerve pain and wide awakeness saw me up watching tv at half past one. My damaged leg has decided to join in this morning, so there will be painkillers needed before I head out. Early childcare day for me. I'll take the boys to school then head home for a nap. A quick tidy up of the kitchen and a zoom round with the hoover then back to the school for an hour in the school library before getting the boys. Dinner will be beef olives. Have a good day all.

grandMattie Mon 19-Jan-26 05:36:21

Good morning from a mild and misty Bristol.
New week, new start.
I’ve got quite a busy week coming up, with Tesco with my neighbour then a WI meeting. Shopping usually takes ages as her friend is a slow shopper, not using a list and trundles from one end to the other and back in no particular way. Also, coffee is usually the order of the day, so an “outing” which would normally be quick, takes up the whole morning. Fortunately for me, she isn’t coming today so it’ll be quick. I can’t complain as it is very kind of my neighbour to take me as well.
As I’m now on the WI committee, I need to be there early to set things up; this month, it’s Scottish dancing with the members joining in. As most of the, can barely stand up, it’ll be interesting!
As about half the committee can’t come, it is imperative that I should be available to help. I’m also serving tea/providing cake…. No rest for the wicked.
I am at a loss to understand your kind comments about interesting my extremely pedestrian life, but thank you.
May this week bring peace and contentment to one and all, those posting, those missing, those with difficulties, those with joy…
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩⭐️🦩❤️
