Good morning from rainy East Lothian. I am sitting in the splendour of our newly floored living room. I will see if I can attach a photo. The bedroom and the little hall between front and back rooms have also been done. A very stained old carpet has gone.

I had a lovely day in Edinburgh yesterday with Grammaretto. We viewed the Turner watercolours which, by the conditions of the bequest, are only shown, annually, for the month of January. I think this is to preserve the colour from exposure to light. We did a lot of chatting! I did some shopping after we parted and arrived home very late. I had walked 9860 steps 😇

So sorry to hear you are back in hospital Jaxjacky- I hope it is 3rd time lucky.
I hope new biologics, if prescribed, will restore your DGD to a more normal life Sar.
My DD2 has asthma, among other things - it only developed when she had left home and I haven’t seen her when it’s been really bad. She has had a cold/virus, along with the rest of the family, and when I saw her on Tuesday she was coughing alarmingly. She is now on steroids and improving, she says. I will check her out today.

Good wishes Mick and all, especially those missing due to health or other challenges in their lives 💐

Good morning everyone from rainy Lancashire. Fortunately the wind has dropped.

The footbridge is open again this morning, so we were able to enjoy a circular walk. The rain had stopped when we set off but started again before we reached home. Good job we had the Big Coats and wellies on grin

Best wishes to all who are struggling with life at the moment.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

Good morning all,

Yet another damp and soggy day with poor light. We seem to be having such a lot of this weather and very little bright, cold weather. The sunshine lifts the spirits, doesn’t it, but it’s in very short supply. At least the daylight hours are lengthening a bit more now.

Sorry to read about your hip issue Jax and I hope you are feeling much better very soon. 💐

Enjoy your time with your DiL Ilovedogs22. It sounds as if you are really looking forward to her visit.

The Swedish death clean doesn’t appeal to me, either. I like the things around me that we’ve collected over the years, as they hold special memories. One plus, though, is that we don’t have anything in the loft, and I will have regular clear outs of things we no longer need, such as curtains no longer needed or clothes that are too worn to look presentable.
Paperwork is in order, too.

I’ve a bit of ironing to do today and the bedding to change, so will get on with that when I’ve finished my coffee.

Wishing you all a good day.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 22-Jan-26 10:48:52

Good morning everyone from the damp, grey west midlands.
My dear daughter in law is visiting soon & I'm soo looking forward to it, again! So much so, that I'm rocking back & forth & muttering like a belligerent toddler! I hope all of you other gran's have a safe peaceful day. It will soon be spring & lunchtime. Tra,la, laaa 🎵

Good morning from a grey and wet NE.
Yesterday I did a massive amount of laundry and managed to get it all dried and ironed before dinner. The number of tea towels was unbelievable but at least they are easily ironed.
Sister and BIL visiting this afternoon and taking me shopping.
Friend is feeling better after the horrible virus, she messaged and asked me to book a table for lunch tomorrow. Haven't seen her since the beginning of December.
Weather dreary again but at least the days are getting longer.
Have the best day you can.

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Yesterday worked out well as I managed to get to the lunchtime recital and the opera co rehearsal in the evening in spite of the painful neck.
The lunchtime recital was only so so, but that might have been due to my feeling slightly under the weather. It went on a bit too long with too much chat from the performers. I managed to get my usual seat on the front row. I hate being at the back as I like to feel part of the performance. In the past, I have usually stayed in town and had some lunch etc., but I came straight home for a rest.

So I felt refreshed for the evening rehearsal and we tackled some new pieces. Afterwards I enjoyed a drink with friends I have known in the company for a very long time.

Housework today and more music to look at.
So sorry to hear you have taken a step backwards Jax and thoughts to all🌺

Greyduster Thu 22-Jan-26 09:32:45

I only remember the first time DH contracted very painful shingles. His doctor said to him “Have you been around anyone suffering from chicken pox?” so I have always associated it with that but can see from googling that it is not necessarily so. However, much as I would love to see my nearly four year old great great niece, I will pass in this occasion just to be on the safe side.

The dreaded Swedish Death Clean

I have ensured that my paperwork and treasuresare in an orderly state. The house is always near and tidy and the AC will do as they please with the contents.

The loft/attic, well that’s another country mostly their stuff, school/uni work and the detritus of their former lives when living here. They can crack on when I am gone…

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 22-Jan-26 09:13:26

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire.

Annoyingly I’m feeling under the weather. It started at WI last night. At least I’ve nothing planned except finishing off a Barmbrack and catching up on three Renaissance lectures from the V&A.

Yesterday was good. OH enjoyed his birthday with the U3A lunch group which he is now running.

I had a telephone consultation with my GP in the morning. My bone density scan showed my hips and spine had improved! She wants me to take a vitamin D supplement daily and has put me down for another scan in four years.

Rather annoyingly my toe is still not completely healed… and my eyes are sore again. Grr. I finished the antibiotic drops for conjunctivitis a few days ago and started the blepharitis drops on Tuesday. There must be an ingredient in them which I’m allergic to. I’ve stop using them and will think about getting in touch with the surgery.

I’m thinking of the FGT2S and MaryD. Special thoughts to JJ. What a pain. 🌹

Good morning from Shropshire.Another rainy day forecast.

Yesterday’s appointments went reasonably well. Wry tiring and I went to bed as soon as we got home.

I am looking forward to a day at home today. We are looking after DD’s little dog this week so hopefully we can dodge the showers when we take her for her walk.

Jax, I am so sorry your hip has dislocated again,I hope that you get home today and that the drs have a plan to sort it out to stop the dislocations happening💐

My DH is with you Bellas on the children sorting everything out but I do my best to keep on top of the decluttering. We thought my mum was ruthless with her clearing out but even so there is still a lot to do.DH’s parents had never decluttered a single thing and it was horrendous sorting their house.

Thinking of all with worries.I don’t want to miss anyone out but my thoughts have been with Georgesgran, FGT’s and Marydoll 💐

Thank you Mick for this lovely thread.Thinking of all with worries and wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Good morning from the Essex coast where it is damp and chilly.
I had a lovely weekend in Kent with DD2 and family.
DGD1 went off to Winchester with her Dad yesterday to check out the University. She's 18 this year and will be going to University in September.
I had a long chat with DD1 yesterday and S spent most of last week in and out of hospital. They patch her up and send her home. Hopefully she will be starting a new Biologic soon.
Food shopping this morning and then a trip into town to sort out new phones for both of us.
Sorry to hear about your hip Jax, I do hope you are home soon.
Have a lovely day everyone, best wishes to all xx

BlueSapphire Thu 22-Jan-26 08:10:26

Good morning everyone from another wet Northampton day, and more rain to come.

DS did not arrive yesterday to put new batteries in my smoke alarm - he must have forgotten; luckily it has stopped beeping. I shall WhatsApp him later and fix another time.

A lovely evening out with my ladies wine group. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner, much wine and excellent service. Arrangements were made to possibly go and see Abba Voyage in the summer.

A gentle morning in, then after lunch I'm off to the hairdresser, needing a cut and colour.
Chilli and rice for dinner tonight.

Wishing all a pleasant day, especially Jax!

monk08 Thu 22-Jan-26 08:09:54

Good morning all from a damp Black country.
Today DH has an eye test so while he is in there I will take a look in Next, I saw a fleece in a magazine which took my fancy but do like to see them for real before I buy.
I also need to collect DH prescription.
Jax sorry to hear about your hip let's hope it's soon sorted and you can return home.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans.
Thoughts with missing posters ☀️

WhiteSwan63 Thu 22-Jan-26 08:09:00

Good Morning everyone from a grey damp East Coast.
I’m waiting for DH to get up so I can put out the garden and food bin. His bedroom is right next to the bins store and I don’t want to disturb him clattering about. We aren’t rushing to do anything this morning. I’ll potter around and he wants to crack on getting the China flights booked as DS is eager to know we are definately going. He will go to work for the afternoon later and I will pick up DGS from school.

Hearing about the Swedish death clean I ask mum if she wants me to help slowly decluttering the house with her overseeing but she says no you can all sort it when I’m gone. I wouldn’t know where to start though and she can’t be bothered. It will be an enormous task one day.

Sending 💐to you JaxJacky
Best wishes to those celebrating and virtual hugs to those struggling. Hope there are lots of moments of joy today🌺

Grammaretto Thu 22-Jan-26 08:06:56

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. After much rain I hope it's dry today.
There's been a campsite landslide in NZ but DS has assured us they are home safe though some people are still missing.

I met Litterpicker in Edinburgh yesterday for a very nice day out. We saw the Turner watercolours and the Lewis chessmen and enjoyed good chat and lunch at a newish café.

Today yoga followed by a Burns' lunch and if I have the energy, ceilidh dancing tonight.

So sorry about your hip Jax 😢 I hope you are soon home and recovering.

Thinking of our missing posters and hope all is well.

Stay warm and cosy everybody.

RosesandLilac Thu 22-Jan-26 08:05:27

Good morning everyone from an extremely wet hillside in south Glos, the lanes were like rivers yesterday with debris washing down into the junctions in the valley bottom. I’ve never seen them like that before.
I pottered yesterday, little inclined to do anything much but I’m down to the last dozen rounds of my crochet throw. It’s taking over an hour for each one! I’m looking forward to finishing it.
Out for dog walk shortly then I have a couple of GP and vet appointments to make before deciding what I want to do today 😊
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Gingster Thu 22-Jan-26 08:02:31

Good morning all and it’s damp but not cold here in Essex.

Yesterday rained all day. Dd and I went up to town and met my old pal for a coffee. Both great chatterers with pal being cheeky and a bit risqué which Dd loves and laughs at her, so pal enjoys the audience and is encouraged to get more naughty. 😬.
She’s known Dd since birth so they’re very comfortable with each other. I mainly just sit and listen.🙄

Dh went out for breakfast with his old school chum so a nice sociable day.

Today I have bowls group and maybe I’ll shop.

Jax so unlucky for you. I hope it stays in place now.💐🙏.
Bellasnanna I contracted Shingles when the twin gs’s had chickenpox. Coincidence? Who knows.

Keep well, warm and dry. Spring is on its way.🌷

Liberty Thu 22-Jan-26 08:02:04

Good morning from an,as yet,dry Suffolk after a dull damp day yesterday. Although the se miserable days of January don’t bother me much,I know they depress lots of people. One of my oldest friends phoned yesterday for a lovely catch up chat and she said that the reason why she thought so many people were suffering this year was not just the miserable weather but also because of the uncertain and ever changing state of the world’s politics.

I’m off to my stretch class in about an hour and then meeting a friend for coffee which will,as it usually does, extend into lunch. It’s always a time of lots of laughs and we both feel better for it.

So sorry Jax to hear of your continuing hip problems and hope there is a long term solution to stop the dislocation reoccurring. Hope also that those with other problems have a peaceful day.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 22-Jan-26 08:01:10

Good morning from Stockport.
I had a very bad night ,still awake at 2am so very tired this morning, I don’t know whether to try to have another short sleep or decide on an afternoon nap.
I went to see my friend yesterday, first time for 3 weeks but she was very difficult, I really don’t want to stop seeing her but must decide if my own feelings must come first.
She just talks about her family all the time, with the same anecdotes every week.
Nothing on the agenda today, no change there then, I also had a delivery of Cook meals this week.
Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Thu 22-Jan-26 07:57:38

Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire.

Yesterday was a good day in my journey back to normality as I helped on a zoom Carer course which in turn meant I slept really well.

Today I am going to try to drive further as we are going to look at a potential new gym for DH. Sainsbury's delivery between 5 and 6.

Have the best day possible all.

Redcar Thu 22-Jan-26 07:54:22

Good morning everyone from a damp, mild mid Essex, I didn’t wake up until 7.30, having been awake from 2,00-4.30 with a busy brain! Chair yoga yesterday was good and I felt quite energised afterwards. I chatted to some lovely ladies who live near me, although I didn’t know them until yesterday. DD1’s again today to keep the dog company and look after the DGDs when they get home from school.

jax, I hope you can go home today. Can anything be done to stabilise your hip?

bellasnana, how disappointing that your DD will be unable to join you for your 70th birthday party. Enjoy having both Milo and Winston today, I hope they behave themselves.

I’m running late this morning, so will just wish everyone a good day, and hope that those who are poorly have a better day.

ginny Thu 22-Jan-26 07:53:41

Good morning from a drizzly. N.Bucks.
Jax 💐
I’m out all day. Art class this morning and Sewing group this afternoon. DH & I will call to see DGS2 and give him his birthday present as he will be in London tomorrow.
DD2 is coming to join us for dinner this evening.
Wishing all a good day especially those with worries or troubles.

brook2704 Thu 22-Jan-26 07:53:04

Good morning everyone from Inverness, its a wet and windy start to the day
Just a bit of pottering at home this morning and then this afternoon I’m going to meet up with a group of ladies at the local garden centre. It’s a while since we’ve met so I’m looking forward to a good catch up
Jax hope you get home today and on the road to recovery again today ❤️
Sorry to hear you had a bad night grandmabatty I hope you get a rest today and tonight is better
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Thu 22-Jan-26 07:48:34

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and wet. Some large puddles on the road. madeleine you put me to shame with what you manage to do despite being in pain. karma well done on sorting out paperwork. That was a marathon!
Yesterday I didn't get to the school library as I felt rather dodgy. I did pick up my prescription in the afternoon and pottered about.
Last night wasn't a good night. Two lots of painkillers were required and therefore a disturbed night. Today I have a chiropodist appointment fairly early then I'll do a bit in the school library before heading home. Dinner will be beef olives in onion gravy. Have a good day all

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Jan-26 07:47:13

Good morning it is slowly getting light here in S E Essex.

Thankfully after my massage and facial yesterday I have slept for 9 hours and feel so much better for it.

Bed changing and some washing today. The 10 ur old is sleeping over tonight, he has requested steak for dinner so his servants (us) will of course oblige.

Holding those with illness’s and worries in my thoughts and prayers today 🙏🏻
