Good morning all from a windswept corner of Cheshire. Only an occasional poster ( although regular reader). Just wanted to say to Marydoll that I am missing the lovely photos of Babydoll She always brightens my day with her doings. X

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. It’s lovely outside though the wind is chill once away from the shelter of trees and buildings.

MrB and I enjoyed a circular walk around the Dock this morning. Yesterday afternoon I made another bracelet using some pretty aventurine beads I’ve had for ages. I remembered to make it a bit bigger than my tiny wrists!

Best wishes to all who are struggling with life at the moment.

Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing.

A late good morning Mick and all.

No plans, no jobs that need doing today, no visitors expected.

Me, kindle and sofa have a date day

Thinking of this not posting 🙋‍♀️

Good morning and I’m late today. Various reasons.

Yesterday Dd and I enjoyed the Avatar film. Very cinematic and with 3D glasses , took us into the action . Rather too long 3 hrs 20 mins, - sore bottoms!

I bought an M and S Thai meal , so we’ll have that today.

Just received a letter from the Driving Licence Agency. I need to go for a special eye test , as I have glaucoma. I’m scared I will lose my licence. I feel absolutely ok driving and better now I’ve had both cataracts done. fingers crossed.🤞

Best wishes to you all 🌱

Good Morning everyone from another very gloomy day on the East Coast.

We had a pleasant few hours with our friends yesterday afternoon. They enjoyed our buffet and we chatted happily surrounding our friends going through tough times with love.

Today we are going over to see my parents just over an hour away and DD and DGDs are meeting us there. The little GDs will delight them. They have booked us all a lunch at a restaurant. DGD1 is still complaining to her mummy about her eye but after many checks are showing there is nothing wrong. DD and the consultant suspect she’s making it up as she is really desperate to wear glasses. School say she’s reading well and hasn’t mentioned anything to them. It’s concerning DD either way but she has to go along with it for now. DSIL is on the she’s making it up fence.

Hope everyone finds sparks of joy in their day today. 🌼

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining and I managed to have a long lie.

I missed a concert yesterday thinking it was the evening but silly me it was in the afternoon! So the opposite of your timings gMattie

Never mind I persevered with my pottery and knitting. I was also on hand to rescue a friend who had got off the bus too soon and would have had a 5 mile walk in the dark and rain without pavements.

Today some of my pottery group will come here to work and keep me company.
Tonight the local community run cinema.

Such a romantic Burns Night for you Kitty My DH proposed in the car while we were driving through London traffic in February. He suggested we go to Scotland at Easter and get married. We were married at Easter but didn't move to Scotland for 5 years.

I have barely ever ski-ed but my DS now 80 still goes each year to the Alps with her entire extended family!

I must say I enjoy the photos.

Hoping everyone has a good day.
Keep dry and warm.

A quick morning all from a blue sky West Oxfordshire.

No church today as we are taking our daughter out for lunch at a favourite riverside pub.

Have a good day everyone.

A late.good morning from a dull and damp Northampton. Yesterday turned out nice and sunny, but my goodness there was a.bitter wind.

I had a good day shopping at Rushden Lakes, but unlucky that both the outdoor shops I went to had sold out of physical gift vouchers and only e-vouchers were available, which I might have to resort to for DS-in-law, whose birthday is this week.

I enjoyed a pleasant Italian lunch with wine, then browsed.the remaining shops. Came away with a pretty top from Next, then a long sleeved t-shirt from Fatface, and spent my vouchers in M&S on a stripey cardigan and another.t-shirt. Got DS a voucher to treat himself to some menswear from Fatface.

It was a long day out and I didn't get home till 6.15, so had a quiet evening watching the second half of my team's rugby match on tv (hooray, they won! 💚💛). and then a couple of catch-up programmes.

A quiet day in today, the weekend newspapers, and try to work out how to send DS-in-law an e-gift voucher. Also peruse the internet for new cat carriers.

Wishing all a peaceful and pleasant Sunday.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. I had a lovely time yesterday with DD2 and GD3, we went to watch the Nutcracker in the Armadillo in Glasgow and then for a meal. I enjoyed it all although the theatre could have been warmer.

We called in to a M&S food outlet at one point and I picked up a couple of ready meals for my friend who is very slowly recovering from sepsis but there wasn’t many of them which had low salt which she now has to stick to.

Mass shortly then we’ll see. Lots to do so I hope I do some of it!

Wishing everyone a good day, especially kittylester, what a romantic memory!

Good morning from Shropshire where another day of sunshine and showers is forecast.

DD arrived at lunchtime yesterday without the children. They had spotted DH walking the dog so had jumped out the car to join him. They arrived back and DD and H went off to meet friends. We had a lovely few hours with DGD💗

After they had left we washed all the dog blankets and beds and cleaned the floors so hopefully a lazy day today as we are both very tired.

The talk of skiing reminds me of the many years I would have a winter holiday skiing every year.I loved it.I also went on the Olympic bobsleigh run at Innsbruck.I was terrified. There was a professional driver and brake man and a few of us in between.Like I said I was terrified but the adrenalin afterwards!I wanted to do it all again!Melanie I did dog sledding in Canada, great fun.We also did snow shoe walking which was hard work even then.Happy days, I don’t even leave the house in snow now.

Grandmabatty, glad the sleepover went well.

Thoughts to all struggling.Jax I hope things are settling down now💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩💐

Good morning all from a dull but dry Black country.
Family should have been coming for dinner today but DS called yesterday to say both boys have been doing a lot of coughing and Dgs2 had been sick so will keep away.
I shall start another book now plans have changed and my day will be more relaxed.
Take care everyone, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 25-Jan-26 08:56:50

Good morning from a wet Stockport.
We had a decent dry day yesterday but the wind was very cold.
It didn’t bother me as I have become a hermit.
The two GS’s were here and for once the 16 year old was sociable and chatty which was lovely, we discussed amongst other things the Polar Vortex which is affecting Canada and parts of N America, I only hope it stays on that side of the Atlantic.

I had a nice Cook meal with a mixed salad bowl and enjoyed a glass of wine which I haven’t done since a viral infection well before Christmas.

The day was upset by a friend ringing to tell me her H had died , it was expected, he was 93 and been ill for a few weeks.
It was a second marriage for both of them and although a late one had lasted for a surprisingly long time.
Must away and get dressed so hope you all have the best day you can.

GrannySomerset Sun 25-Jan-26 08:52:31

Up and doing early for no particular reason except that I went to bed much earlier than usual. A pity I have an empty calendar but might feel moved to clean the downstairs windows, having been reminded that I have a window vac and any sunshine will show how much I need to use it. Like others, I am encouraged by all the green shoots in the garden and the feeling that spring is somewhere on the horizon.

Gagagran Sun 25-Jan-26 08:37:56

Baubles - yes you are right - it was Jeanette Winterson of course. Sorry - needed my coffee when I posted!

Liberty Sun 25-Jan-26 08:35:32

Good morning from a grey and dry Suffolk after a lovely sunny day yesterday. The snowdrops are blooming in the dell and other bulbs now seem to be growing well, after an unusually slow start. So spring is approaching.

My dear friend who had a stroke in October is now home after her month’s respite in the care home and she is doing so well. She has had excellent help and support from the neurophysiotherapist who has both encouraged and supported her to get on with life.

She is awaiting a visit from an OT to assess her driving so that is the one thing she still needs to do to get back to her previous life although she intends, encouraged by me at least,to take life at a more relaxed pace in future.

I’m going to pick her up mid morning and we’ll go out for coffee and then lunch wherever she fancies. She is so appreciative of being able to get out and about,if not yet under her own steam.

Hope today is a peaceful one for all.

brook2704 Sun 25-Jan-26 08:35:24

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with light grey clouds
There’s nothing planned for today so I’m going to have a lazy day, I might wrap up warm and sit outside in the garden for a while watching the birds. Like ginny I’ll do the RSPB birdwatch. I think the fresh air will do me good but don’t really fancy a walk anywhere today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Sar53 Sun 25-Jan-26 08:29:20

Good morning from a damp Essex coast.
DH will be off to rugby soon, I have some ironing to do and then finish off some paperwork for a neighbour.
Yesterday we spent 2 hours finalising new broadband and new mobiles. We will pick the phones up during the week.
We have booked to have lunch out today using a voucher given to DH for his birthday last year. Im looking forward to someone else doing the cooking.
Enjoy Sunday everyone, best wishes to all xx

Annapops Sun 25-Jan-26 08:22:36

Good morning from Durham.

A lovely walk yesterday out in the fresh air. I changed my usual route and made my way towards the river. It was beautifully calm down in the valley with hardly a soul out and about. I can't wait for those trees to burst into life, adding some much needed colour into our lives once again.

DH still coughing.....one month now. Chest X Ray clear with no action required so that's a plus. Just taking such a long time. Mine is little more than the odd tickle in my throat so there's some improvement.

Meeting up with DD1 and GD2 today for a little shopping therapy. Will be good to catch up as during the week we're more like passing ships.

After last week's indoor window clean upstairs I may attempt downstairs. We shall see, I can't remember when I last cleaned them. My mum loved polishing windows using Windolene. I could never clean them like her. They would always be streaky. Her's sparkled to perfection. Thank goodness for the invention of the window vac.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Greyduster Sun 25-Jan-26 08:17:35

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is currently raining hard.

DS and DiL came down from York yesterday to spend the day with me. Just before they got here he sent me a text to say they were held up by a sheep on the dual carriageway not far from here. He sent me a video of said sheep wandering around with a couple of people trying he relocate it safely out of the queueing traffic. They duly arrived and we went out for a long leisurely lunch. It was good to see him.

Today I have the other of my two children coming for lunch with her menfolk. My cup runneth over this weekend. I have a chicken curry to finish making and a veggie curry to make. Shouldn’t take long.

Have the best day you can folks. Hope someone gets a nice dry walk somewhere!!

ginny Sun 25-Jan-26 08:10:25

Good morning from a wet and dull N. Bucks but at least the storms have hardly affected us.
A bits and bobs day for us with art and craft for me.
I am also going to spend an hour doing the RSPB bird watch this morning.
Wishing a good day for all.

RosesandLilac Sun 25-Jan-26 08:07:23

Good morning, grey, wet and not a promising day ahead weather wise here in south Glos.
I had a lovely day yesterday with a zoom art day from 10 to 3, I loved every minute. We did collage, texturing and watercolour, the first two are new to me.
At lunch break I went downstairs to discover that DH had cooked lunch! A real surprise and very nice too.
I’ve set up my materials for starting an acrylics painting today, I don’t have any excuses for not starting it 🙄
Dog walk first then let’s see how it goes.
I hope you have a good day 🌹

Good morning Mick and All from a grey South Bucks.

What a romantic story Kitty.💐

In recovery mode after a dreadful week when I was prescribed an antibiotic for a gum infection and had an allergic reaction, not a nice thing to happen 🥺 I am in recovery mode now watching the brilliant tennis from Australia.

Good morning Mick and everyone from dark, damp Carlisle.

I'm hoping my days go to plan this coming week. I had my return trip to Newcastle on Thursday to retrieve my phone, left in a taxi on the Wednesday. I'd asked the taxi driver to leave it at the physio clinic and, to my immense relief, he had. By happy chance, my cab back to the station was driven by his brother!
Next day, I needed to go shopping, however, a few yards up the road my low tyre pressure warning came on so I returned home. No pressure in the tyre at all! Rather than pump it up and limp through the city to the tyre place I called in road side assistance (free!) and the spare was put on in an hour. I couldn't have done it especially as he had such trouble knocking the tyre off, my garage hadn't greased a repaired transmission joint. Then it was off to get the tyre fixed...it wasn't, it had a large nail in it so it was a new tyre, more expense.
While it was being done, I walked into town and did some shopping and stopped for a bite as it was now lunchtime. Perhaps you were wise to avoid Cafe Nero Madeleine, they have a new line, pistachio croissants. I was hungry and couldn't resist. It was yummy! But the calories, Hmm!!

A quietish day yesterday playing catch up in the morning but I got out in the garden in the afternoon and removed/moved plants around. Probably too soon after lunch as I got awful heartburn the rest of the day.

Today, I'm off for a walk shortly then will tackle the ironing. After that, some admin and reading the papers.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

baubles Sun 25-Jan-26 07:59:56

Good morning from dark, gloomy, wet South Lanarkshire. The weather has been vile for a couple of days.

I stirred myself and cleaned everywhere except the bedrooms yesterday so felt quite virtuous by mid afternoon.

Gaga I’m another fan of Lionel Shriver but wasn’t Oranges written by Jeanette Winterson?

Mass this morning then we may go for lunch somewhere, will decide later.

Thinking of those with troubles to bear. Have a good day everyone.

grandMattie Sun 25-Jan-26 07:54:11

madeleine there is an all day Syrian party in the hall today, so it HAD to e all slick and span. The cleaning has nothing to do with me, so I keep well away. (I do know how to say no…)
