Good Morning Everyone,
I have woken to a dark and wet morning here in Brackley .
Up to my usual routine with a bus to Bicester , I may make it a double trip by going after lunch .
I aim to watch some cycling on TV as well.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from the Essex coast where it is pouring with rain and very windy.
DH is having an operation on his eyes this morning and we have to be at the hospital at 9.45. I'm not looking forward to driving in this weather.
I'll pick him up when it is all over and we will spend the rest of the day in the warm.
I heard yesterday that S will be starting on a new Biologic next week, hopefully this one will improve her health.
Take care out there everyone and stay safe xx

Good morning from a dark Black Country, where it is absolutely tipping it down!

Rain held off yesterday, so had a dry walk to town for Line Dancing. MrJ is peeved as looks like the cycle ride will be called off. It is forecast sunny for tomorrow though.

My financial advisor is coming this morning. I feel I really need to start drawing on the money as I am 73 later this year. Annuity or drawdown? Big decsion.

Then I need to pop to M & S to collect a jumper for MrJ. His birthday present from Mum. He will be 75 on 7th February!

Wishing you all the best day possible. Thoughts with MD FGT's

Good morning from a wet and rather windy Cambridgeshire. The big tree at the bottom of our garden which is in our neighbours property is blowing madly! He is now appealing the magistrates Court decision that it must be reduced in height. Tree gate continues but the District Council are fighting him now rather than us, they are a very unpleasant couple to have as neighbours!

Yesterday I had a lovely walk at our local NT property it was cold but dry and lots of snowdrops to be seen.

It is wearing me out all this January spring cleaning and sorting out. I am definitely as FGT2 would say a lazy gran.com at the moment. I am doing the necessary but have little enthusiasm for much else. The plan today is to visit a friend who lost her sister over the weekend and take her some flowers, try and do a walk if the heavy rain stops and pick up the dgc from school.

Thinking of all those struggling take care and have the best day possible. May you find something to bring you joy today 🌼

Good morning from a very wet and windy Wiltshire. The weather is so despressing currently.

School pickup yesterday. The kids played well together for a change. Occasional spats but no full out war. They always hug each other in the playground as they both come out of their respective classrooms (they have different playgrounds) it doesn’t usually take long for things to go downhill. When DH dropped them back at 6:30pm DD2 was in bed with a temperature and some kind of cold.

As we haven’t got Ocado this week we were going to go out for food but as it’s so dreary I don’t think I can face going out today.

I’m so sorry to read that MD’s DiL is unwell. I hope she recovers swiftly.

Have as good a day as you can all.

Morning from a soggy S Hants, our back garden is flooded. I’m ok thank you Ash and others who’ve kindly asked, treating my hip so, so gently.
Safe journey Ash the worst has passed here.
Have a peaceful day all.

Good morning from Durham.

Dark and dreary like everywhere else. Tesco delivery shortly, then thoughts regarding what to conjure up for tea later as it's GC school pick up day again.

GD2 is busy working on a wood carving project with DH. Fortunately that will keep her busy and away from the dreaded UTube programmes both she and her cousin enjoy!

My Lego botanical set, a Christmas gift, has been completed and looks ever so pretty. I also have another apron to finish off. A fox themed fabric, this one shall go to my sister. They are so easy and simple to make without much thought. I've lined them with a plain cream cotton and am rather pleased with the finish.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

Good morning from a very rainy and windy east coast. What a horrible morning to be out and about.

Yesterday school pick up for Grandson was ok. She said he’d had a wobble over trying to stop him eating the kinetic sand. He was lovely at ours though with no issues just a very rigid routine. We looked after our little ladies in the evening. GD2 likes 3 books while eating an apple then to go straight to bed with a kiss. DGD1 on the other hand likes me to sing to her while stroking her back and wants to be in her mummy’s bed and I can’t leave her until she’s asleep. She really makes the most of us looking after her getting spoilt because DH has made her chocolate pancakes while GD1 is going to bed.

Today mum and I are visiting an elderly relative it’s an hour drive away and in this storm it won’t be a pleasant drive.
Tonight we are out for an Indian and drinks with some family who are delightful company.
Melanie61 it’s our go to meal with me being coeliac too.

Wishing everone a pleasant day. Thoughts to those struggling or in pain 💐
Hoping there are moments of joy in your day. 🌼

Good morning from Suffolk where the rain and wind has just started. Yesterday in Ipswich was dry all day and the only rain was a couple of drops as my 2 friends and I made our way to the station,to go our separate ways. We had a lovely few hours together and caught later trains than we had planned so we could spend longer together.

I have another audiology appt this morning and then,if I can make it in time,a pedicure. L,who does my pedicures, knows of my potential timing problems and has just said to ring from the hospital to cancel if times don’t look good.

I hope those in the path of this latest storm don’t suffer in its wake and all have a good day.

Melanie61 Tue 27-Jan-26 08:42:52

WhiteSwan63 it’s so difficult to find somewhere that understands gluten isn’t it.
The bigger restaurants aren’t too bad but the choice is so limited.
Have you found a restaurant chain that caters for coeliacs that you would recommend ?
I find Nando’s good and the chain, Ego have an excellent menu.

Good morning all from a very wet and windy North Leicestershire.

We had a new carpet fitted in one of the bedrooms yesterday so today will be spent hoovering up the mess and putting the room back together.

We didn't have time yesterday as we had a lovely visit from DS2, his partner and their lovely, very big, chatty sons - our eldest grandsons.. We rarely see them altogether now the boys are in their 20's so it was extra special.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from a wet and windy Black country.
Late up this morning so haven't read through yet will catch up later with everybody's happenings.
Hair appointment earlier than usual but first I need to get some flowers for hairdresser for her birthday tomorrow, we are off to the jewellery quarter afterwards to pick up engraved fishing trophies.
Virtual hugs for those struggling safe journeys those on the move, take care all ☀️.

GrannySomerset Tue 27-Jan-26 08:48:03

A very wet night and Wonderful Cleaner has just rung to say she won’t risk coming as there is a lot of water where it shouldn’t be and she is even less brave than me. Chiropodist due at 9.30 and Tesco delivery after 10,00 so we will see how bad the flooding is. Will have to do a minimal amount of housework I suppose but otherwise definitely not going anywhere.

WhiteSwan63 Tue 27-Jan-26 08:51:40

Bill’s are very good. We use Pizza Express quite a lot. Zizzi’s and Prezzo as well are ok. The more modern restaurant chains are quite good. It’s a good job I like most food as choice can be so limited isn’t it. We go to China in April now that is another story it’s very difficult. I get very emotional when I find a fully gluten free restaurant. X

Good Morning from me, the Phoenix returns,😉
It's wild here in Glasgow, where it is 3°C..

I had decided to take a brief break after Peanutgate, which really upset me and also I wasn't in a great frame of mind at the time.
I am beginning to see worrying changes in DH's behaviour and this has been playing on my mind.
At last, after being dismissive of my concerns, my daughter has agreed, something isn't quite right.

However, both my RA and diverticulitis flared up badly and } was unable to be positive about anything!
My pain levels were unbearable. The only option is increased opioids, However, I am not going down that road, I have no intention of becoming a zombie, I have been there before.

I have been confined to bed with a bad case of labyrinyhitis, which has floored me. Poor DH was in such a flap and couldn't cope. Especially when he found me lying on the bathroom floor

My wee DIL had emergency bowel surgery in the early hours of Sunday morning. She was four hours in A&E, before she saw a doctor.🤬
Then all hell let loose and she was rushed to theatre. It was a close call.
She is tiny, a size 6, and they can't get her pain relief dose managed properly, because she is so tiny.
Wee Dollie is distraught, after seeing her mummy in such pain and she won't let her daddy out of her sight.
Dollie ♥️ and her dad popped in yesterday, after their hospital visiting. I was so happy to see them.
I feel so useless, because I am so unwell.

However, I do feel more human today, thank goodness. I was feeling very sorry for myself. Hopefully I can get up for an hour or two.
I suspect the kitchen will be a bombsite. 😉

Tomorrow, if I am up to it, I may regale you with tales of DH's demeanours.😉 They weren't amusing at the time.

I want to say a special thank you to those posters, who texted, posted positive comments and sent PMs. I have some very good friends on GN.
I am quite overwhelmed, especially as some are lurkers, who don't post on the GM thread.
Thank you all, ♥️

Best wishes to all the mountaineers, those mountains seem to get higher daily.
Sar, I hope the biologics do their job, they were a life changer for me.
Safe journey to all those travelling. I have neen unable to focus, due to the vertigo, so am unsure, what is happening.

Have a pleasant day, folks.

P.S, I promised myself, I wouldn't write a novella! 🤣

Good morning from a wet, windy W Kent. Another day indoors, I managed to get an appointment for Thursday I think I must have this longstanding cough and sinus problem checked although I expect it is just the usual Winter illness.
I can recommend Cote Brasserie for gluten free, they seem to take a lot of trouble with little flags on the food.
Sorry to hear about Marydoll’s DIL.
Thinking of all those struggling along

Grammaretto Tue 27-Jan-26 09:17:22

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I just lost a long post and must go and see the podiatrist.

I'm so glad our dear Marydoll has posted and is "in the room" again despite all that's going on with her.

I skived off exercise class and got the bus into Edinburgh yesterday. It was so dreich here. I certainly don't do Spring cleaning until Spring!

Here's the Autumn cherry in Princes Street gardens.

Susan56 Tue 27-Jan-26 09:17:48

Good to see you both Jax and Marydoll😊hope things continue to improve for you both and your lovely DIL Marydoll.x

grandMattie Tue 27-Jan-26 09:20:34

Thank you for the update, MD. It’s a really sorry business and am very sad for you all but pleased that things are moving upwards. Prayers winging their way to you.

We have missed your novellas, please carry on !

cornergran Tue 27-Jan-26 09:25:11

Good to see you maryd and know your hip is behaving jax, an underwater garden doesn’t sound ideal.

Stay dry everyone. It’s foul here, so many flood warnings around.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 27-Jan-26 09:30:25

Morning all from a damp and grey West Oxfordshire.

I managed to do all the things on my to do list yesterday, including dropping two bags of clothes off at the Charity shop, getting some different drops for dry eyes (the more expensive drops made my eyes very sore indeed), a bottle of vitamin D tablets and the usual Waitrose shop.

My toe still isn’t totally better.

I am seeing friends this afternoon and I will walk there!

Good to hear from MaryD and special thoughts to the FGT2S.🌹

Good morning from a cold windy northwest coast. The sing a round went well yesterday afternoon, with a good turnout and lots of different music. I followed it by a jolly shopping trip to a Poundstretcher, which tempts me with all sorts I don’t really need. However I remained pretty sensible on the buying front.

I’ve had a very broken night. There’s no rhyme or reason why I get sleepless nights. I’d had a busy time, felt tired and then found myself lying awake.

I’m on duty at the music club this afternoon and coukd do with feeling more rested.
Good news re hip jax, lovely snowdrops grannyivy and thoughts to FGTs and all🌺

Melanie61 Tue 27-Jan-26 09:39:57

WhiteSwan63 Thank you for those tips on restaurants. I know what you mean about becoming emotional when you find something nice that you can have that’s gluten-free. We have a couple of places in Sheffield that are totally gluten-free. To be able to choose anything you want is a real treat.
A small problem with consideration for other posters that have tremendous health issues.

Gingster Tue 27-Jan-26 09:50:10

Late good morning from me.
I had an early morning call from Dd who is sick and not feeling at all well. Could I pick up gd and take her to school.

The rain and wind along with awful traffic took me over an hour to get her there.
We have 4 way traffic lights round the corner and alwaysa busy time , we were at a standstill and just crawling most of the time.

It’s ridiculous !

I’ve cancelled dogs vet appointment and Bridge this afternoon. I’m not getting in the car again today. Little DGD will stay here for the night and we can walk to school in the morning.

I’ll now have a coffee and read all your posts to relax .
Then walk little pooch who must be crossing her legs.

Take care ☔️💨

Good to see Marydoll and Jax posting.
