Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark but as far as I can tell dry morning in North Yorkshire. I didnt think anyone would have been on so early or I could have joined in. I woke, yelling, with awful cramp in both thighs at about 4,30am. Hope I didnt wake my upstairs neighbour. It was grim for some time, and I then started coughing, which I couldnt stop until the tears were running down my face and my sides ached! Not at all the chosen way to start a day.
Well after all that there was no way I was going back to sleep, wide awake, and moving quite gingerly so as not to start the wretched cramp off again. So now am a bit ahead of myself, up washed , dressed, washing up done, rubbish out, breakfast eaten and cleared away. So I have decided that once I have checked the weather and any local flooding, that I may venture down to the designer outlet in York. I rarely go to shopping centres, not my usual haunts, but with the floods, bad weather, and I do need a couple of things, it might be the best use of the day, with hopefully better weather to enjoy tomorrow.
Yesterday I went to my phone course. It was the last of the short course, and due to being ill I missed the last weeks lesson, but Nichola had kept all the crib sheets and a very good page of possible internet things that might interest us , that were safe. This ranged from physio exercises, to a calming one, to connections to games etc. I was pleased to have that to use in the future. I felt it had been very worthwhile to most of us, and as it was the first of this designed course Nichola has also been able to use us as guinea pigs and can adjust following courses.
I had suggested to her that she might find it easier, both for the students and herself if she separated us out into iphone and samsung groups, because it was quite difficult at times with the mix, where sometimes students would be worried they could not find something, only because it was not on their phones. She has taken up this idea and is going to sort of run them in parallel in the beginning so that people gain confidence in their ability to use the controls etc. I was very pleased that I had gone on the course, but know that I have lots to learn still, and need to practise.
Then I went on from there to do a small amount of shopping, went for coffee at Cafe Nero and met a friend I had not expected to see. She said that sadly she and several other people had lost their jobs as I think the firm was going into liquidation. So rather upsetting, but she said that she wasnt feeling too good, - no doubt all the pressure of the last few weeks hasnt helped - so she is looking for work and checking at the job centre. I said I would watch out for anything I saw. In the past I happened to be passing somewhere as they put up an advert and passed it on to her and she got the job, so fingers crossed I can see something for her again.
Then it was home and general sorting out , and much of the evening watching tv, as I enjoy the quizzing things like Only Connect and University challenge, but there was also a very good film about Nicholas Winter and how he brought the children out of czechoslovakia by train. I have known about it and some years ago watched a film of it but it was very moving, and I think many officials should be made to watch it. It showed so much that whilst we do need rules for things, there are times when officials need to get their fingers out and MOVE , to ensure that tragedies are avoided and that they remember that what they do or dont do, can affect people for all of their lives.
Hope you have a good trip and also see some great cycling Mick. GrandMattie sounds as though your cinema group could do with a sort of , was it called Paul Jones?< at a dance , where you changed partners half way through, or in that case moved tables, but that would probably be difficult to do I suppose. Bellasnana your post made me think of how long ago it was that I got to the top of my cupboards, and I have made a note to remind me to ask my cleaners to get the steps out and give them a go this week. Sounds as though you really had a grand clean up. (Dont you find that when everywhere is looking lovely no one calls, yet when you have just got the entire contents of a cupboard out the sort it, the world and his wife calls!) RoseandLilac do hope your feet improve as the day goes on.Susan56 glad you had a good day yesterday and hope you can be a calming influence on your friend. It is always good to have someone to speak to when you are feeling rather scared or upset.
Oh dear I now have the rain lashing at the window, never mind I am warm and dry in here, but am already less sure about going to York. I need to look at the road situation if there are floods on the way I intend to go, and whether I can keep up the enthusiasm for going or retreat to doing the ironing in the warm.
Hope everyone keeps dry and well today and have a good day
