I’ve just come in for a catch up having badly neglected the kitchen just lately. My thoughts are with the soops.
Happy Birthday to all those with recent ones, I’m another with a March birthday but not for a couple of weeks yet.
Ladyleftfieldlover, you make so many beautiful sounding cakes and although I know you freeze some I was wondering how you stay so slim. Then I realised that I have no idea what you look like and it is just my mental image of you that has me ‘seeing’ you as tall and slim.
Although I think I’m coping fairly well I too have moments when realisation hits me. In the middle of the night when I go back in the bedroom after a bathroom visit, it still takes me by surprise that there is no one there..

Good news about your eye yia. Our neighbour made me laugh post cataract surgery, she said the down side was she could see the dust, her husband said no, the down side was she now wanted every room decorated.
.
Belated birthday wishes from me too. I seem to miss a lot these days.
fgt your jewellery sort reminded me I still have a bag of my Mum's costume jewellery. Our young adults aren't interested in it, time for me to keep a couple of things and let the rest go. Your L’il Miss’ sounds excellent company. Our young adults are so busy we struggle to see them now, I miss the colouring, cooking, crafting and sand castle building - if not the chaos they left behind them
.
It’s been a grey, cold day here. Kitchen cupboards cleaned with Mr C’s help we walked to our nearest shops, very entertained en route by a young Labrador determined not to cooperate with their very patient owners. There was a bus waiting for the return journey, it would have been wrong not to have climbed aboard.
I’m anticipating a night with little sleep, just how my sleeping patterns go, hope you’re all sleeping soundly.
Night, night everyone.
Two birthdays that were kept quiet! Belated congratulations to you both. SiL is here and today is her 66th which she’s not too happy about! My next one is 70 and I am very unhappy about that!
We went up to Lowestoft for lunch and to give her dog a run on the beach then came back in time for the last rugby game. Saying nothing!
Glad your eye is ok Yiayia and love to everyone
grandmaC47 I hope you had a good birthday too*
yiaya so pleased that your eye is better today. I hope your DH gets his results soon.
fgt that sounds like a happy morning with L’il miss. My DGDs like to play with my costume jewellery. I don’t have any sparkly dangling earrings though!
I’m just back from a lovely meal out in a very noisy and busy local gastropub. We didn’t have to wait long for two tables to be pushed together for us, luckily. It’s very family friendly and there were lots of small children having grown up dinner there! The older three (11 and two 7 year olds) had a proper meal, littlest had some garlic bread and a bowl of fries with tomato ketchup! She’s a very picky eater, despite her mum’s best efforts!
We had birthday cake here afterwards.
Feeling lucky and grateful to my family, also sad that my DH isn’t here to enjoy it with us. Even after 5 years it still gets me sometimes.
Thinking of all who are in the quiet corner and our dear soop and her DH.
Happy belated birthday greetings Redcar. I know hoe you feel about birthdays. It was mine the day before yours. 🎂
I'm sorry I missed your birthday too, Redcar. Sounds like you had a good day.
Nice to see you FGT.
Sending love to SueD.
Your eye operation seems to have been a huge success Yiayia.
In a way, it's a compliment that your family don't see you as older Uttb.
We have DGS3 and DGD1 have invited themselves for lunch tomorrow. It's lovely that they want to come but hard work prepping everything.
‘Evening All’
Another here with apologies for missing your birthday Redcar I hope you had a good day.
I’ve had L’il Miss round this morning. She’s such good company. We sat on my bed and went through the contents of my jewellery box. Stories were told about certain items and fully absorbed, nearly all costume jewellery was put into a bag which we took downstairs to the charity shop.
I laughed when showing 3 pairs of quite lovely ‘dangly’ earrings.
“Why don’t you wear these grandma? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them before”
“Oh I suppose they’re mostly for fancy evenings out when the light can catch them ~ then you see them sparkle”
“You need to start going out at night then grandma and wearing them”
True.
Maybe 😊
Sorry, I too, missed your birthday, Redcar, belated good wishes for you, enjoy the family meal this evening.
x
Take care, SueD. x
Pleased your eye has 'settled' Yia, good sight is to be treasured.
Warm wishes to our dear Mr&MrsSoop, as always, for FGT & all in this friendly kitchen. x
Belated birthday wishes from me too Redcar, I seem to miss so much nowadays! I’m glad your op went well Yia.
Sorry I missed your birthday Redcar belated wishes 🎂🥂🎉
Belated birthday wishes Redcar enjoy your meal later.🎂
Thank you all for thinking of me yesterday the operation was fine but my eye was sore and very painful all day, nothing like the last time. This morning the world is bright and clear without glasses or contacts😀 so worth the pain.
No news yet for DH but trying not to dwell on it till we have to.
Enjoy your time with your family Dragonfly always special. My northern DS and Dil are coming next weekend, not seen them since November so really looking forward to it.
Good your getting out FGT it must be a comfort being with your family and friends.❤️
Kind thoughts to you lovely lot and our dear Soop.
Enjoy your Saturday.
Thank you for my birthday wishes yesterday, I hadn’t mentioned it earlier because I hate the thought of being older! I did have a good day, and my girls and their families are coming over this afternoon. We’ll go out for an early evening meal, the gastropub in this village doesn’t take bookings for parties of fewer than 10 people, so as there are 9 of us we’ll have to go early and queue. Littlest won’t like waiting but DD2 will probably bring a few snacks to keep her going.
utbb I fully understand your dilemma over meeting up with your DD and GD. I think it’s hard for our children to accept that as we get older, sometimes we don’t have the energy to do things we used to do. It probably reminds them that they too are getting older!
Enjoy the rest of Saturday everyone.
Redcar I'm sorry I missed your birthday yesterday. I hope you had a good day.
I too missed your birthday Redcar so apologies and belated greetings.
I try to read all the posts but sometimes things slip through.
I am having to accept I am not as sharp as I used to be, things are slipping by, it is a sobering thought.
I am supposed to be meeting up with my D and GD for three nights over Easter, we find it is easier to meet half way now but I really don’t know if I will be up to it.
I cancelled meeting up with them last October and now I don’t know about Easter.
Problem is my family can’t see/accept I am aging, I should be as I always have been and I am not following the script.
Ah well it will all come out in the wash as the saying goes.
Oh Redcar apologies, I think I missed your birthday yesterday too, I hope you enjoyed your day especially with the chocolate cake and fizz! 🎂🥂💐❤️
Hello kitchen people. SueD🌹
I had fun at the WI coffee morning. I drove two of the ladies to the venue - a garden centre about half an hour away. It was full of similarly aged ladies!
After lunch I had an excellent wash and blow dry. My hairdresser is brilliant - when I ask her to cut my hair long, she knows exactly what I mean!
Sleep 💤 tight.
Thank you jaxjacky, the cake & fizz were a real treat from DD2, she knows how much I love the M&S chocolate cakes!
Night night.
Your birthday Redcar I missed that, I’m pleased you’ve had a pretty good day with 🎂 and 🥂, many happy returns.
SueD so sorry to hear things are difficult at the moment, take care ❤️
SueD
sueD sorry that you’re going through a difficult time at the moment. Look after yourself too.
A very grey chilly day here today, quite a change after yesterday’s warm sunshine. I was late back from DD1’s last night, she and her DH were delayed by problems on the railway lines out of Liverpool Street. They got home at 9.00, the DGDs, dog and I had all had dinner, the girls were in their pyjamas and we were watching Crufts when they got home.
I’ve had an enjoyable birthday today, the usual Friday lunch time bingo session with lunch in the village hall, fun but didn’t win anything. DD2 had provided a small M&S chocolate cake and small bottle of fizz for my friends and me to share!
Two friends called in this afternoon for a chat and now I’m watching an old Simon & Garfunkel concert!
The Paralympic winter games will entertain me tomorrow before the family come over and we go out for an early evening meal.
SueD take care of yourself as well as everyone else
Sue good to see you, but I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time, I do hope some resolution is found. Look after yourself xx
Just popping to say hello to you all. My caring duties at home have ramped up considerably in the past month or so and difficult conversations with medical people have had to take place. I don’t have much spare time but I think of you all.
Xxx
