Sorry I am behind (as usual) with kitchen news.
The Imp is here for his weekly sleepover, story read and sound asleep.

What a beautiful day today here in Essex. Blue sky and warm sunshine all day! I went for my usual walk this morning then another one this afternoon to post some birthday cards. In between I cleaned the shower, did a little weeding and visited my friend with dementia. Her DH has a hospital appointment tomorrow afternoon and their DD1 is looking after her mum while he’s out.

My younger niece returns home to Australia tomorrow, having had to rebook her flight from Emirates (& Dubai) to Singapore Airlines and home via Singapore. She’ll be back with her son for my dear sister in law’s funeral on April 9th.

yiayia I hope your DH has recovered from his procedure and biopsy and that all will be well now. I hope the respiratory consultation and cataract operation go well. A lot of appointments in one week!
jax I’m pleased you’re making progress now and hope you continue to improve.
corner I won one of the computer battles, but gave up on the other one. I need to revisit it another day!
I hope brooke is at home now after an uneventful journey.

Thinking of those in the quiet corner and all who are struggling at the moment.

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Mar-26 17:56:59

I’ll have everything crossed for good results Yia.
MrJ had an endoscopy this morning, nothing major, but tablets for life.
It’s been a beautiful day, he dried washing outside, it smells lovely.
I’m making small steps of progress, metaphoric and actual, restricted still; no bending below knees, sitting with knees lower than hips, sleeping on back etc, tiresome but necessary.
It was great having family last night, a few hours of chat and laughter, we’re lucky.
Leftovers tonight, that’ll do.
I hope brook is on her way home on schedule.
Thinking of those struggling, particularly FGT

Happy belated birthday Jax hope you had a nice evening with your family.

Also happy anniversary for yesterday Corner.

DH got home mid afternoon on Saturday, not a nice procedure but it went well.Biopsy taken and they are very hopeful it will be ok so onwards and upwards,Respiratory consultant tomorrow and I have my second cataract operation on Friday, our lives revolve around hospital appointments at the moment but be good to get it all sorted.

Hope you soon get your appointment grannmarie and it’s easily sorted.

Thinking of you all.

Charleygirl5 Mon 02-Mar-26 01:36:22

Welcome bool2, you will soon get to know us. I spend too much time on this computer, unlike a friend of mine who has the best money can buy but all she can do is check her Premium Bonds each month.

She has never sent an email and online banking terrifies her. I can do the basics, but now she lives too far away for me to help her, having moved to the borders of Scotland.

Today is going to be warm and no showers! The washing will go out and I may get some natural vitamin D.

cornergran Mon 02-Mar-26 00:33:16

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day, many thanks for your good wishes. Far too much food this weekend. It was really bad planning to have two birthdays and an anniversary in the same week. Oh well. At least we combined two celebrations 😂

Pleased you had a good time jax. These days are worth celebrating.

Welcome boo12. Do stop and chat.

We’re hoping to tackle some garden tomorrow. I have a new electric hedge cutter. Hmm could do damage with that. Watch this space!

Computers saving time? Not in this establishment redcar! Hope you won the battle.

Lunch is much preferred here too utbb, that or breakfast. I can’t recall the last time we ate out in the evening other than when staying in a hotel. It’s fine to be as we are in my view.

I don’t know about a sleepathon, I leave that one to Mr C, but my eyes are heavy now and I’ll settle for my usual 4-6 hours.

Love to our absent friends.

Night night everyone.

Nannytopsy Sun 01-Mar-26 23:11:42

I have the same problem Redcar - I spend so much time sorting out the computer!!
Welcome Boo12.
I haven’t got into the garden- we have had a number of showers. Tomorrow’s forecast is better, so I will make an effort. I have quite a collection of hostas in pots. Worried that they may have drowned and rotted. I do hope not.
Much love to soop & FGT

Happy birthday jaxjacky and congratulations on your anniversary cornergran. A quiet day for me today as I didn’t sleep well. DH went himself to order a new car. It doesn’t interest me as long as I’ll be able to see over the steering wheel. Back to dancing class with Dgd tomorrow. Coffee at garden centre after with my sister who brings her Dgd.

Redcar Sun 01-Mar-26 22:25:21

The birthday sleepover went well, apparently they went to sleep at about midnight! I don’t know what time they woke up this morning, I don’t think it was early as neither of my DGDs went for their swimming lessons at 10.30.

I hope you had a good birthday jax and that the corners enjoyed their anniversary.
I had good intentions of doing some gardening but it rained every time I went outside. I changed the sheets etc, washed and dried them and now they need ironing! Also spent hours sorting out some admin on the computer - I thought computers were supposed to save time! Silly me!
Night night everyone, sleep well.

Hi I’m new 🙂
Nice to meet you

TillyTrotter Sun 01-Mar-26 16:25:04

Charleygirl you may just have invented a new thing ,
a sleepathon,
Much more relaxing than a marathon and appeals to me more.

Charleygirl5 Sun 01-Mar-26 16:19:21

Lovely for the cornergrans to have had the family round to celebrate.

Jax another birthday? I hope the meal is good.

There are showers here for a change and it for me, is not the warmest weather!!

I wish Amazon would just ring my doorbell when delivering, they don't have to wait. At least today I wasn't accepting a large parcel through three doors, one of which is locked.

I have been having sleepathons recently, they must stop. There are many here who I know would be envious.

Look after yourselves.

TillyTrotter Sun 01-Mar-26 15:56:19

Popping in to wish Jaxjacky a Happy Birthday ,
and Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Cornergran.
It’s nice to celebrate the happy days as well as not forgetting our friends soop and fgt who are so deserving of caring thoughts to
help them through their most difficult days.

hulahoop Sun 01-Mar-26 13:18:36

Happy Anniversary cornergran .
Thinking of those with worries and sadness in their lives .

Blossoming Sun 01-Mar-26 12:46:27

Just dropping in quickly to wish Cornergran and her DH a happy anniversary and a happy birthday to Jaxjacky. We have some sunshine here so am making the most of it while able. Happy St David’s Day.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 01-Mar-26 12:23:41

I hope the celebrations for Anniversaries and birthdays go well today.
It is dry here but no repeat of the beautiful sunny day we had yesterday, it was glorious but made me realise I must get a cleaner in even if it is a one off 😦.
I am totally embarrassed by the state of the place.
My GD does her bit but…….

I went out for a meal last night with my friend across the road.
I didn’t really enjoy and must reluctantly accept that evenings are no longer doing it for me anymore.
If I go out it will have to be lunchtime.
It is sad but it comes to us all I suppose.
I was up for several hours with Acid reflux and am shattered today.
I hope you are all doing ok and our poorlies and their carers are coping .

gillgran Sun 01-Mar-26 11:59:58

Jaxjacky Sun 01-Mar-26 08:50:16

Happy Anniversary cornergran 🌻
My birthday today, very different weather from last years sunshine in Dorset, children and grandchildren here for Indian takeaway dinner. Hope ours isn’t bland Nannytopsy, what a shame.

brook2704 Sun 01-Mar-26 08:23:14

Hello everyone in the kitchen, a morning visit from me as I’ll probably be busy later today
Thank you for your kind words, I arrived safely here in Cambridge on Friday afternoon. We’re so much enjoying being here with the family, yesterday youngest DGS had his birthday party with his friends, they’d hired a sports hall and they all enjoyed the activities. This afternoon the other grandparents are coming over so it’ll be busy for DD1 with 8 to cook for. I think she’s doing various pasta dishes with salad etc and there’s birthday cake to follow. We’re travelling home tomorrow but will spend sometime in London first as the flight isn’t until the evening.
It’s all quiet in the house here, gone are the days when the DGSs would come in for a cuddle at 6am!
Pleased to hear you had a lovely family get together corner, sorry to hear about the grandma though
A Happy 11th Birthday for yesterday to your DGD Redcar I hope the sleepover went well
I hope everyone enjoys whatever they’re doing today
Thinking especially of those feeling unhappy, worried or sad, sending a gentle hug, take care all x

Nannytopsy Sat 28-Feb-26 23:15:31

Evening! It’s been a pretty damp day in Suffolk so there wasn’t any gardening. I did a bit of ironing then DS, DDIL & 2 DGC came over and we had an Indian takeaway delivered. After living in Leicester for nearly 30 years we have eaten some great curries in our time but this was such a disappointment. Good chicken etc but so bland. Another takeaway to cross off the list.
Church in the morning and then perhaps I will make it into the garden.
Thinking of everyone in the kitchen tonight.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 28-Feb-26 22:38:29

Hello kitchen people. I thought I’d pop in quickly - isn’t it quiet?

I got quite a bit done today so I’m now worn out. I still have after effects of my cold and cough. At least me toe has eased a bit,

So, I made a chocolate, pineapple jam and pineapple cake. I will cover it with chocolate frosting. I did a stack of laundry and my ironing. Finally I made toad in the hole for dinner.

Sleep 💤 tight.
