Thank you, lovely Kitchen people, for your support and kind wishes. Much appreciated.

Usedtobeblonde, great news about your DGD's BF's new job, good luck to them both for the future.

Glad you had a comfortable night Nannytopsy, take things slowly and gently.

What a great experience for your DGDs, Redcar, their show sounds fantastic.

Cool hair, Jaxjacky, well done for doing it yourself!

Safe travels tomorrow, Cornergran and MrC. Good that your son can do most of the driving. Hoping and praying that things go as well as they possibly can. May your DGDs' grandmother rest in peace.🙏

Another bitter cold and windy day, I hope the weather picks up soon.🤞 I treated myself to a long lie this morning, reading in bed, how decadent!! I went to early evening Mass, not like me at all.

Think I'll watch some of Miss Bennett !📺

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday
evening and a good night's sleep. 😴
TOYA, NNGB.

‘Evening All’

I’ve had a good day. L’il Miss here to play for a couple of hours and later I went over to theirs for a roast dinner. Bathed and hair washed L’il Miss. I remember the days of steadying her as she climbed out of the bath but not these days Miss Long Legs. She has shot up these past few months.

Love the hair Jax and well done Grannmarie a poignant day well navigated with loved ones. Your husband would be proud of you all. Grandmabatty get you going Turkish for brunch! It’s so nice you see your son nowadays. A real blessing after an estrangement. Hope there for others perhaps enduring that sadness.

Right, peppermint tea calling me and a couple of episodes of The Other Bennet Sister. I’m hooked!

Thoughts tonight though for those affected by the tragedy in Derby. Another shocking incident on our streets.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 29-Mar-26 20:13:10

I am also tired Redcar I have always said I am not affected by the clocks changing but today seems different.
It has been a very wet and miserable day, the wind is getting up now.
I have come up to bed, my back and my left shoulder are both painful.
I had trouble dressing yesterday particularly fastening my bra.
I have brought a cup of tea up and might try to settle down when I have finished that.
Kindest thoughts to all.

Redcar Sun 29-Mar-26 19:55:46

nannytopsy I’m pleased you’re home and able to sleep in your own bed. Take things slowly, especially if you’re on strong painkillers.

I like your hair jaxjacky. Take care when planting up your compost, don’t bend too much!

I’ve had a good day, DD1 and her DH collected me this morning and we went for brunch with DD2 and her family. Then walked to the local theatre to watch DD1s daughters in the juvenile version of “We will Rock You”, which we all enjoyed - proud granny!

I haven’t done anything since I came home, except load the tumble dryer!

Now tired due to the clocks changing!

Jaxjacky Sun 29-Mar-26 19:24:13

I am sorry Grannmarie I missed your post rushing.
I’m so pleased you had family with you in a fitting remembrance to your husband on a difficult day xx

Grandmabatty Sun 29-Mar-26 18:52:37

Jaxjacky, I love your hair

Jaxjacky Sun 29-Mar-26 18:17:46

Other way round here Grandmabatty chilly morning with sunny intervals, wet afternoon.
My son followed MrJ to our mechanic and drove him back as his car has its MOT tomorrow 🤞.
I’ve ordered compost, ever the optimist I might get something grown this year.
Roasting chicken smells lovely.
My cropped hair from Friday, so easy to wash and leave.
Enjoy your evenings all.

Grandmabatty Sun 29-Mar-26 18:07:23

Good evening kitchen folk. Llfl I'm contemplating buying an ice cream maker!
I've had a very pleasant day. The weather was vile this morning and motorway driving was not for the faint hearted, however I braved the roads and met ds in Stirling for breakfast. We tried out a new Turkish restaurant he likes. It was lovely. A couple of hours, eating and chatting. Hes given me stuff to mull over before I see him next Sunday. I've been lazy this afternoon but did make a chicken curry for dinner. It'll do me tomorrow too.
The sun is out now to match my mood. I wish you all a pleasant Sunday evening.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 29-Mar-26 13:19:16

Yes, i have an ice cream machine! I used to have the type where you kept the container in the freezer but I now have what is like a mini freezer. I have had it for several years and it gets plenty of use

Nannytopsy Sun 29-Mar-26 09:23:36

Llfl I am very fond of chocolate peppermint ice cream too! (Hint!). Do you have an ice cream maker?
Apart from several visits to the loo, I slept very well and I am ready for the day. Just waiting for my coffee before I start washing and dressing.
Thank you all for your best wishes. I hope you all enjoy today.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 28-Mar-26 22:25:55

Hello kitchen people. I just have my wrist watch to change as everything else changes the time automatically.

OH and I went out for lunch today. Delicious as usual. When we got back home I made a batch of chocolate peppermint ice cream ready for granddaughter’s next visit. It’s her favourite.

Sleep 💤 tight everyone.

Thinking of the Soops.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 28-Mar-26 21:37:49

Grannmarie well done for being stoic and around family for your first Anniversary, it is hard but all the firsts are hard and you have survived them now.
FGT you are doing well also.
I don’t think there is anything wrong in being busy and accepting all invitations.
Yes it hits hard when you are back and on your own but the more you do it the more you get used to it.
I am just back from a lovely meal with my GD and her BF.
He learned on Thursday that he had been successful in his job application, they are very thrilled, another step towards getting their own place, it is lovely to see them planning their future.
We went out to celebrate and it was a great evening.
Very cold and very wet at times today, spring hasn’t sprung yet.
Have the best night you can everyone.
Don’t forget those clocks.

Redcar Sat 28-Mar-26 21:37:14

grannmarie a bittersweet occasion but comforting to have support from your family.
Well done for all your preparations for your Australian visitors, I hope you have a wonderful time with them.

Grannmarie Sat 28-Mar-26 21:25:16

Good evening, lovely Kitchen people! 🥰
Thank you, hulahoop, I'm OK, hope you're keeping well.

Today we had a family gathering to mark DH's first anniversary.♥️We buried some ashes and placed a memorial planter at his parents' grave and at my family memorial bench. I'm glad we were all together to do that. Then we had an early dinner for all ten of us in a nearby restaurant. It was bittersweet to have us all around the table, but without him. However, we had a good catch up and shared memories of DH.

Then they all came home with me and raided my loft for vintage Lego and Star Wars stuff, the Wee Boy was delighted!
Lots of hugs before they left, I feel quite exhausted now but somewhat calmer and content.

I think I'll have an early night, not like me but compensation for losing an hour overnight.

Our Australian cousins are arriving on Tuesday and Wednesday, eight of them,
( four cousins and spouses). They've had to cancel their original flights, which were through the middle east, and reroute at considerable expense. Well done, Cornergran, on your domestic goddessing for your dear friends, making many happy memories. I've been a bit anxious about hosting, but the guest room is all prepared now, spring cleaning done, food and drink shopping almost complete, outings arranged... I must get my car valeted !!

Nannytopsy, I'm delighted to hear that you are home already, with strong pain relief to aid your healing. Wishing you a speedy recovery to good mobility.

Jaxjacky, you are a very patient patient, glad to hear that you are getting out a bit now.

GrannyGravy, gorgeous hair!

Grandmabatty, I hope you are relaxing now after your Saturday jobs.

Brook, enjoy your line dancing break, what a great way to exercise!

FGT, you are doing very well. Thinking of you.

Hoping and praying that the Soops are comfy and cosy and have all the necessary support.💕

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening and a good night's sleep.

‘Evening All’

I’ve had a good day. Only one crying jag today.

I enjoyed the meal with family at the Lebanese restaurant. I had the most delicious lamb with a salad finely chopped with a mint dressing.

Home now, pjs on and sat on the bed with a peppermint tea.

Disclaimer: I’ve just eaten a Toffee Crisp!
Why? 🤷‍♀️
It called to me from the tin. There’s no hope for me ….

Redcar Sat 28-Mar-26 19:46:06

Another cold day today, so decided not to go for a walk or do any gardening. I changed the bedclothes with the usual fight with the duvet cover. Washed the sheets etc and tumble dried them because I can’t reach the top line on the whirly line.
Then did some ironing so I have some clean clothes to wear!
Spent a while trying to put together some Lego that DD1 gave me for my birthday. It’s cherry blossom flowers on twigs, lots of little pieces with pictures showing how they should fit together! I got as far as I could but had to give up because the pieces were so small and the pictures quite confusing. I’ll get one of the DGDs to help!
fgt I hope you had a good time with l’ll miss and enjoy the Lebanese food this evening.

nannytopsy I hope you’ve had a comfortable day and manage some sleep tonight.

Have a pleasant evening everyone. Don’t forget to put the clocks forward!

hulahoop Sat 28-Mar-26 15:09:47

GG your hair looks lovely mine is thin I went grey in my thirties and colours don't take on my hair 😞FGT you are lucky to live where things happening in glad you have got paperwork sorted .
Nannytopsy good to hear all went well and pain not too bad .
Granmarie hope you ok.
Best wishes to all.

Jaxjacky Sat 28-Mar-26 14:51:24

The very best for your (pain free) recovery Nannytopsy.
I meant to say how chic your hair is GG13, beautiful.

luluaugust Sat 28-Mar-26 10:15:17

All the best for a swift recovery Nannytopsy

Nannytopsy Sat 28-Mar-26 05:47:52

They do send you home with oxycodone, which is the strongest thing they give you here so all good!

Usedtobeblonde Sat 28-Mar-26 05:06:21

I am pleased you are comfortable Nannytopsy and hope you get some sleep.

I think the time spent in hospital is too short now, I feel you need at least 2/3 nights with the assurance that someone is at the end of that bell and also a couple more nights with the strong painkillers which you cannot have at home.
Progress is all well and good but not always for the good of the patients in my opinion.

Nannytopsy Sat 28-Mar-26 03:18:18

Well I haven’t got to sleep yet 😳
I am relaxed, warm, comfortable and pain free (as long as I stay still!) and absolutely wide awake. The ward is pretty quiet but no sleep. Should be out tomorrow!
