Hope nobody minds me opening a new kitchen.

Cake, Tea & Fizz on the side šŸ°šŸ¾šŸ«–

Oh gear Maw I would say don’t worry, but know you will 😘

As for falling, it’s just over a year since I tripped on our drive, resulting in a broken foot and seriously injured opposite knee (which is still painful when I kneel on it)

dragonfly46 Wed 25-Feb-26 09:42:47

Sorry to hear about your cancellation Topsy. I hope they get going again soon.
Aah Maw scans are horrid. I fortunately do not have them any more but I am sure they flag up things that are nothing to worry about.
Before my oncologist let me go in 2024 she made me have a PET scan, a bone scan, an MRI and a CT scan. Each one showed up something different so she gave up in the end and I am still here.

Apparently although there is clearly a fault with the 12volt battery in the car Toyota are only going to replace it under warranty as a 'good will gesture'! The only time the garage have for me to replace it is 8.30 tomorrow morning. Although the garage knew they were allowed to replace it on Friday evening I had to ring them to find out yesterday despite the fact the car could not start at any time.
I am less than pleased.

RosiesMaw, Those words, "combobulated" & "gruntled" remind me of all those "buggerations" that our dear soop (& many of us) need to use to cope with what life deals us.
Good to share here among our virtual friends.

I do hope that Mr&MrsSoop are keeping warm & comfortable.

Hope you are ok this morning, Grandmabatty, I couldn't get up unaided from a fall.

Sorry, Nannytopsy to hear of your cancellation again, that's frustrating & disappointing.

Utbb, have a restful day after your bad night,

Many thanks to you all for all your kind birthday wishes last Friday, I had a lovely few days with the family.

Warm & caring thoughts for you all in this friendly kitchen. x

flowers FGT. x

Nannytopsy Wed 25-Feb-26 09:12:26

Sending a hug Maw. I hope it’s all good news in the end. We don’t tell the family anything until we have to!
UTBB it’s the second cancellation after starting the process in late summer 2024.

Grandmabatty Wed 25-Feb-26 08:09:13

Thank you RosesMaw. Like you, I fear falling and I'm usually very careful, I just hadn't allowed for dgs2!. I hope whatever they have found is nothing much. Take care

RosiesMawagain Wed 25-Feb-26 08:03:28

Tiptoeing in but want to send a hug to GrandmaBatty - falling is something I dread and the more I worry about it, the less confident I feel. A combination I think of reduced flexibility, balance, blasted varifocals and probably slow reactions. I hope you are feeling a bit better today and more combobulated (if that’s not a word it should be)
As should ā€œgruntledā€ - I am feeling less than gruntled because what I thought would be a routine ultrasound lymph node check booked at my 6 monthly check after last summers malignant melanoma excision, has apparently flagged up ā€œsomething ā€œ which will need further investigation. BGR.
I’ve told a couple of close friends but don’t really want to say anything to the DDs incase I’m crying wolf, so I’m sharing here if I may.
Always thinking of Soop whom I miss enormously FGT you know I am thinking of you and sending kind thoughts to you all. 🐾 🐾

Usedtobeblonde Wed 25-Feb-26 04:06:09

Grandnabatty I hope you feel ok in the morning, you may be shaken up but I think if I have your routine correctly, it isn’t a childcare day for you so that you can take it easy.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 25-Feb-26 04:03:16

* Nannytopsy* I feel your frustration, how many times have you been cancelled now?
You must feel it will never happen.

A bad night here, shall I go down to make a cuppa of tea?

I hope everyone else is tucked up and asleep.

Castle25 Wed 25-Feb-26 01:32:25

What a fright you must have got grandmabatty. I think it’s the thought of what you might have done leaves you in a bit of shock. I’m always wary of good minded people who want to pull you up right away, before you get a chance to do an inventory of your limbs. I tripped when I was with my sister who was kindly waiting till I got my breath back ( and laughing with me) when a man appeared and I had to fight him off trying to drag me upright. All was well apart from a skinned knee and ruined trousers

Nannytopsy Wed 25-Feb-26 00:33:12

Thank you for your good wishes but I was cancelled today! The surgeon who was ill last month is on a phased return and isn’t doing surgery yet. They must have known this for weeks!! He is due to start surgery in 3 weeks time …

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 24-Feb-26 22:29:22

Gosh GBatty - I couldn’t have got up unaided either!

Hello kitchen people. I had a good afternoon at a friend’s. She was bereaved days before Christmas but her children have been rallying around and in fact bought her a beautiful dog! She gave me the name of her podiatrist who I think I will be contacting on Friday. Just two days of antibiotics left and I don’t think they have had any discernible effect this time.

I’ve just realised I can hear a lot of aircraft. We’re not that far from Fairford, but I didn’t think Starmer had given permission to the Americans…

I listened to a very interesting talk on the Royal Collection this evening. I love that these paintings are both old and amazing.

Just saying - I listened to an incredibly interesting Rest is Politics podcast tonight on the 4 year anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Highly recommended.

Sleep šŸ’¤ tight - and especially FGT🌹

dragonfly46 Tue 24-Feb-26 21:45:36

I hope you still feel okay tomorrow Grandmabatty. Falls like that can be painful.
So pleased your op is going ahead Topsy.

After an upsetting call from my DS I had a lovely afternoon with three other Grans.

I often wonder how the soops are and sending love to FGT.
Goodnight everyone, sleep tight.

Grannmarie Tue 24-Feb-26 18:57:20

Aww, Grandmabatty, sounds like a sore one, you are wise to rest up awhile. Hope you're not too bruised tomorrow.

Hello šŸ‘‹ Blossoming, sunshine and sea breezes sound perfect, another grey day here.

Good advice, Jaxjacky, makes perfect sense. You've had sunshine too, lucky you!

Well done on your two gym classes, brook, you're very fit! I enjoyed Aquafit this morning, first for a few weeks, a very busy and popular class.

Good luck for Friday, Nannytopsy, you've waited a long time for this. Wishing you safe, successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Domestic Goddess, GrannyGravy!! I put my crystal tumblers in the dishwasher... okay so far. šŸ¤ž Pl

Enjoy your scampi and chips, Redcar, very tasty! I've just had a chunky fish fingers sandwich with salad, delicious! I could eat fish every day of the week...

I was happy to see the return of some Monday quizzes yesterday evening, I've missed them during the Winter Olympics. My next door neighbour invited me for coffee this afternoon and to admire the results of their recent building work. I now have extension envy, a downstairs shower room would be wonderful!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening. Thinking especially of our FGT, Soops, and all with illness, worries or sorrow. Sending gentle hugs. šŸ¤—

Blossoming Tue 24-Feb-26 18:18:37

I’m glad you’re unhurt Grandmabatty but it still shakes you up a little, hope there’s no bruises tomorrow. I love lemon sole! I have had a quiet day, MrB took me to Lytham for some sunshine and sea breezes, which has done me the world of good. We called in at our favourite proper butchers and got some pork pies for tonight. They are the best I’ve ever had and an occasional naughty treat! Sounds like a good day for you Jax x
Have a good night everyone xx

Jaxjacky Tue 24-Feb-26 17:42:41

Phew Grandmabatty pleased you’re ok.
It’s been lovely and sunny this afternoon, MrJ turned over my small veg plot after two friends visited this morning,. He then went to the farm shop, as well as veg, he picked up an empty egg tray so I can chit potatoes.
A pleasing day.
Enjoy your evening all.
A hug for the quiet corner, FGT in particular.

Redcar Tue 24-Feb-26 17:42:32

grandmabatty what a shame, but pleased that you’re not injured. I hope you’re not aching tomorrow morning. I think I’d need a crane to get me up if I fell flat!
Good advice jaxjacky, I had mine cut the day before my second THR.
I had an optician’s appointment this morning, just a slight deterioration in my left eye, cataracts growing slowly but not a problem yet - phew! I ordered new glasses, and the bank card groaned! Then I walked into town and had a good look round the shops until my back protested.

Dinner will be scampi and chips because I can’t think of anything else I want to eat and most of the rest of the food in the freezer needs defrosting before I can cook it. First world problems again.

Thinking of all our friends in the quiet corner.

Grandmabatty Tue 24-Feb-26 17:16:18

Thank you ladies, I'm absolutely fine. As expected, one of the mothers messaged dd asking if I was ok. Thank goodness I'd already let her know. School jungle drums!

brook2704 Tue 24-Feb-26 16:34:30

Oh my goodness grandmabatty what a shame, I hope you’re ok and don’t have too many bruises. Good that you’ve had a restful day, take it easy if you can
I’m just home after a busy day, the volunteering at the hospital this morning finished a bit earlier than I thought so I managed to get an extra class in at the gym šŸ˜‡ I’ve said this before but the best thing about doing two classes is the coffee and chatting in between!
I walked into town and just missed a bus. They’re only every hour so I browsed around the shops and almost missed the next one as I got sidetracked in TKMaxx. Marydoll would know what I mean! Anyhow home now with a cuppa and chocolate biscuit
Hope you’re doing ok Jax, good tip for nannytopsy there
I’m with you on the swimming lessons GG šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø
I should really get a move on and start chopping some veg, but I think if I wait long enough DH might make a start
Love to all in the quiet corner x

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Feb-26 16:15:50

Oh dear Grandmabatty I hope you don’t wake up tomorrow with aches and pains šŸ¤žšŸ»

I had a busy morning, changed bed, washed and dried bedding (haven’t ironed it but it is now in the ironing cupboard).

Then I emptied a rather tall kitchen cupboard where I keep the crystal glasses, have been meaning to do so since Christmas when I noticed it was rather dusty despite the builders taping it closed during their kitchen works. Washed it down inside and then washed all the glasses, making a note to myself to only purchase glasses that can go in the dishwasher in future šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

DH has taken The Imp to his Swmming lesson, I couldn’t face the noise or the chlorine smells.

Thinking of our friends in the quiet corner, particularly the soops and our dear FGT2 šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø

Grandmabatty Tue 24-Feb-26 15:53:38

Good afternoon kitchen folk. The weather today has been mild and dry if overcast.
Today started badly. Dgs2 tripped me up accidentally in the school playground and I fell all my length. Of course, once I'm down, I cant get up. Cue hordes of nursery staff and assorted parents helping me up. I was mortified although very thankful. Fortunately the damage is more to my pride than my body.
Because of that, I've had a lazy day and rested. One grandson is playing football in my hall : the other is playing with his toy furniture and his ipad, so I'm having a peaceful 10 minutes. I managed to catch the fish van so lemon sole and chips for dinner. Enjoy the rest of Tuesday

Jaxjacky Tue 24-Feb-26 13:21:56

Nannytopsy I did send you a pm…get your toenails cut! I’m having to pay someone as I am not allowed to bend that far šŸ™„

SueDonim Tue 24-Feb-26 13:10:55

flowers RosiesMaw. Just ignore. Xx

RosiesMawagain Tue 24-Feb-26 07:26:52

That’s harsh Charleygirl but to those who did add a prayer for FGT thank you.
I have been a ā€œmember ā€œ of the Kitchen since its inception as a safe space where we all look out for each other shortly after Soop created it many many years ago and have been grateful for prayers, kind thoughts and support at times of need.
Thank you all.

Charleygirl5 Tue 24-Feb-26 00:10:20

Sorry but confused.com didn't understand, and I wasn't alone. If it wasn't your news to give, Rosie'sMawwhy mention it? I have no intention of having a disagreement on this comforting site so I will say no more.

Nannytopsy Mon 23-Feb-26 23:04:22

I knew who you meant Maw.
A phone call from the hospital this morning to confirm my THR on Friday. I was very worried that it would be cancelled again because of the shortage of bone cement.
Love and hugs to everyone in the kitchen tonight.
