A very tired corner here. We loved every minute of the time our friends were here but goodness it was exhausting. Being tour guide, chauffeur and cook is alien these days. Definitely worth it though.

We’re hoping for a quiet weekend before a long day on Monday. We’ll go to the funeral of our former daughter in laws mother, our granddaughters grandma. The funeral is almost four hours from here, thankfully our son has re-jigged his week to be able to drive us. We’ll drive to him and go on together. While we don’t see him regularly he’s an absolute star when support is helpful, always offers.

Pleased you’re happy with your hair jax. I’ve really fine, thinning hair and I’m sure my hairdresser dislikes my appointment as much as I do. She makes the best of what’s there, it’s just what’s there is pretty hopeless material.

Night, night everyone. Rest well.

Glad all went well nanny t and thinking of all with troubles of any kind tonight 💐

Hello kitchen people.

Well done Nanny T. I’ve had the partial knee replacement operation twice and know in a day or so you’ll be feeling better.

I’ve had a fairly busy day. It began with a delicious breakfast of Eggs Benedict in our nearby town followed by a very good Arts Society lecture on John Singer Sargent. I drove to Oxford and the Literary Festival where I heard Alan Johnson being interviewed on a book he has just had published on Harold Wilson. Very interesting. Just to say that OH comes from the same northern town as Wilson, went to the same Oxford college and was tutored by Wilson’s son.

I popped into the Ashmolean on the way back to the car and bought two bars of chocolate and a fridge magnet in the shop.

Annoyingly OH’s shooting event was cancelled at the last minute so he spent the day at home.

Sleep 💤 tight.

So pleased it went well NannyTopsy.

Looking forward to having my hair chopped next week. My hairdresser didn’t cut much off it last time and it’s at the “pulled through a hedge backwards” stage!
A very long lunch today, at one of the village pubs which has recently changed management. Very slow service, possibly due to lack of staff, food ok, but with two other well established pubs, there’s stiff competition.

Glad you’ve had a good day fgt. Satisfying to have your small bedroom tv working again.

A satisfying day for you too jaxjacky.

Thinking of all in the quiet corner and especially the soops.

Night night all.

Jaxjacky Fri 27-Mar-26 21:04:09

Hair chopped! I’m very happy.
Other than that, butchers for 2 free range chickens, all on offer today, Tesco delivery this afternoon, chippy tea after hair as it was nearly 7pm.
A good day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 27-Mar-26 20:49:26

I’m sat on the bed eating jelly babies.

I’ve had a good day. Thought about going to the Trafford Centre then couldn’t be bothered so rang a tv repair man who came to sort out the ‘no signal’ on my small bedroom tv. £25 and I’m delighted it’s up and running again. It was niggling me ever since I got home from the hospice 5 weeks ago but I’d been busy with ‘sadmin’.

Glad to hear you’re right side of your op NannyTopsy bet it’s such a relief for you. Sleep well tonight.

Thoughts with the soops going through tough and emotional times. 💕

I have had a productive day. Worked in the school library this morning then took the last load to a charity shop. Home and fitted my new car mats then emptied and loaded the dishwasher. I've hoovered and done four lots of washing and got them dried and put away. I have nearly cleared out the dining room with just a few photos/paintings to hang- once i find my hammer! I've tidied my art stuff too. So a busy bee

Good to hear from you nannyt. Have a good nights rest.

Redcar Fri 27-Mar-26 16:49:18

Good to hear from you nannytopsy I hope you get the opioids soon and have a good nights’s sleep tonight. I hallucinate on them so wasn’t allowed them after my second hip operation!
I hope you are allowed home tomorrow.

Jaxjacky Fri 27-Mar-26 16:46:15

Good to hear from you NannyTopsy you should get a good sleep tonight after an anaesthetic and opioids 👍

Nannytopsy Fri 27-Mar-26 15:43:35

Well I am back on the ward! The surgeon has popped in and all went well. He said it was very worn out so I’m reassured I wasn’t being a wuss 🤣.
Just waiting for some nice opioids …

Usedtobeblonde Fri 27-Mar-26 09:35:55

I hope Nannytopy isn’t waiting too long today, maybe she has already gone down.
It reminds me of going for my TKR when like her, I had to be there at seven am and had my surgery at lunchtime
, but for my THR at a different hospital I had to be there be at eleven am and had my surgery at seven pm , it was the longest day as I was in a private room and there was no visiting and you were not allowed out of your room at all due to Covid.
The tv didn’t work either, no food or drink since 5 am.
Fortunately after that everything including the surgery went well and the staff were lovely.

Jaxjacky Fri 27-Mar-26 08:31:35

My very best wishes for today Nannytopsy see you later!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 27-Mar-26 08:19:58

Usedtobeblonde Thu 26-Mar-26 23:07:31

Best wishes for tomorrow Nannytopsy I think it is not your first replacement so you know the form.
I wish you a speedy recovery and a quick return to good mobility.

Catterygirl Thu 26-Mar-26 22:53:13

I’m late here but wishing everyone a happy evening.

Redcar Thu 26-Mar-26 21:37:49

I hope you have a trouble free journey along the A14 nannytopsy and a successful and pain free operation tomorrow.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 26-Mar-26 21:09:28

Hope all goes well tomorrow NannyTopsy and the results reassure you.

Nannytopsy Thu 26-Mar-26 21:06:18

Redcar Easter has certainly rushed up on us this year. Lovely hair GG - mine is fine, so layered to give it a bit of oomph. Well done FGT.
Well, I have drunk 3 of tonight’s 4 pre-op drinks which are sweet and artificially lemon but not too foul! Another 2 tomorrow morning and get to the hospital for 7am. Most of our journey is on the A14, so we have to leave in plenty of time because it is so often closed.
I hope to be home tomorrow 🤞. See you then!
