kitty that is good. I wonder if our mothers knew each other? Common wasn't a word used in our house. I was never allowed to wear white shoes because with many other items they were "common".

Great news kitty.
I haven’t done much today. I have been awaiting somewhat anxiously the results of a blood test. Apparently all is well but I am left with extreme tummy ache.

I too am thinking of the soops and*fgts*.

Evening all (to quote our lovely FGT as well as Dixon) I've just popped out of the quiet corner to ask you all to have a drink with me to celebrate. My kidney cancer was deemed to be low risk and contained so I have no further treatment scheduled just scans. Apparently, my cancer was the most common kind which would have horrified my mother - we weren't allowed to do anything common.

Sending love to everyone in the kitchen and hoping that the soops and fgts know we are thinking of them.

A quiet day for me, I had to wait in to sign for a parcel, I was upstairs when it was delivered, the driver rang the bell, left the package in the porch and went! My back has been painful today, no doubt objecting to the gardening I did yesterday!

I’m away at the weekend with both DDs and their families, celebrating DD1s 50th birthday. Having agreed with DD2 which foods we would each take, and having amended my online food order to accommodate the extras, last night she announced that we wouldn’t take as much food, but instead would go shopping when we get to our destination! Fortunately we’re only away until Monday, so the extra food will be used next week. I’ve pottered about, trying to work out which clothes to take, it will be colder at the weekend.

Had really good day - lunch out with friend, greatly enhanced by a delightful young waitress who was a resting actress, and then to the theatre to see an excellent production of Tom Stoppard’s Indian Ink with a talented cast including Felicity Kendall. Things going well meant we easily got a bus to the Park & Ride and home safely by 6.30 pm. And I don’t need to cook after a fairly substantial lunch! As Little Pete (anyone else remember those stories from Listen with Mother?) was told, “and that was another good day”.

It’s been a quiet day here, we enjoyed a long walk around the dock then leant on the bridge railings and watched the big crane at work in the boatyard for a while. This afternoon MrB took me to Aldi. Don’t laugh, this is a major event for me . I push the trolley for support but I couldn’t read labels today so let MrB collect the odds and ends of shopping. Hope everyone has a peaceful evening TOYA.

Hope it’s all going well now jax. I had my physio/OT advice session today and now I am more confident going into the THR op in 2 weeks time.

Busy, busy Grannmarie!
MrJ was out early for an appointment, so I didn’t have my leisurely waking up - not sleeping well on my back - a friend came round for a couple of hours chat. So, this afternoon's nap was appreciated, we’ve curry for dinner.
Some sun this afternoon after morning showers, getting chillier tomorrow.

Brook that's is a lovely photo. Sadly not the same down the road in Central Scotland. Breezy, wet and cold most of the day.
I have pottered about and amazed myself by cleaning all the kitchen cupboard doors. The washing is nearly up to date too, and the house has been hoovered. Dinner will be pasta bake. It would have been lasagne but I've run out of pasta sheets. I, too, often think about FGT and Soop. My best wishes are with them. Enjoy your evening.

It’s been another lovely day up here, cold at about 2°, but sunny and dry. We enjoyed a walk through the nearby Daviot woods then a warming coffee in the little cafe there. We sat at the window table where you can see the red squirrels going up and down the nearby trees. Just as we’d finished our coffee the dentist phoned to say they’d had a hygienist cancellation and could I come in this afternoon. So I did and that’s all done and dusted now - better than waiting until March.

I’ve had a busy day with volunteering first thing and then the gym, this afternoon I did a bit of housework and cleaning.

I'm just catching up on Kitchen news, I've had a busy spell recently. We enjoyed the Wee Boy's 6th birthday party on Saturday, like GG's DGS he had another celebration at the soft play with his pals, so two cakes again. DS1 and DS3 came for roast chicken dinner on Sunday and did a couple of wee jobs for me. On Monday my friend and I celebrated her birthday with a delicious afternoon tea in a nice countryside hotel. Yesterday I has a new fire fitted, I'm sitting watching the flames dancing through the logs, very therapeutic! Today I took my other friend to Mass and Coffee Morning, then had my hair and nails appointments this afternoon, busy, busy. I'm out tomorrow and Friday too, I'll catch up in the house on Saturday!

I'm thinking of everyone, hope the rest of your results are more reassuring, UsedToBeBlonde. Glad you had a pleasant day, Grandmabatty, after having your patience tried earlier in the week! Hope your eye is more comfortable soon Blossoming, thinking too of Jaxjacky and Neine, hope their hips are behaving!

Good afternoon kitchen folk. * llfl* your door kicking incident reminded me of when my new exh was trying to fit a hall carpet and it shifted as he put it down. He in a fit of temper, kicked the hammer he was using and it went right through the glass panel at the front door. The next thing, a neighbour knocked, concerned there had been an accident. We were mortified!
Today has been a lovely day. I had a haircut this morning which made the most of my sparse locks. Then I worked in the school library for an hour. Home to tidy up and hoover before a friend picked me up. We had a lovely couple hours chatting. I'm not long home and I think I'll have caesar salad later for dinner. Have a good evening all

Good afternoon all, I have been to the Lancashire Eye Centre for my 6-monthly botox injection into the wonky eye. Now lying down in darkened room while things settle down. TOYA x

I am just back from my ECG appointment, it is an instant one where the results are sent to a centre for interpretation and they ring back with the results.
It was not as reassuring as I had expected, the Dr had thought it was just an ectopic heartbeat.
There are some changes and I am to have a 72 hour monitor fitted.
I also had bloods done for Thyroid and kidney function, I just hope those are ok.
I feel sometimes that when one thing is checked it throws up more problems.

The 10yr old is 11 today, we are going out for a family meal later to his choice of restaurant, one of the local Turkish ones.

He is going go-carting with his friends on Sunday, consequently two birthday cakes 🎂

llfl DD1’s house was built in the 1920s and the front door is the original. You can see a little daylight between the wooden panels, so having to give it a gentle kick to open it is a bit risky! Apparently a new door in the same style would cost thousands!

Hello kitchen people.

A funny story about front doors. When younger son was a toddler he cried a lot and it was difficult to get him to sleep. One cold and frosty day he was grizzling so I packed him in his pushchair and prepared to take him for a walk round the village. The door was stuck so I kicked it. My foot went right though the large glass panel. Glass everywhere and a freezing cold breeze. So, I went for the walk and when I got back an hour later OH had found a spare piece of wood and made a temporary repair,
