I’m home now after another day of keeping DD1’s dog company while DD1 and her DH were in the office. DD2 was going to collect the 3 older DGD’s from after school club, then get littlest from preschool, but in the end DD1 picked the older three up in the car, leaving DD2 to get littlest. I couldn’t have gone because DD1’s front door was swollen with the recent rain and needed a kick from outside to open! Almost impossible for me to open from the inside! When the postman brought a parcel I had to shout through the letterbox for him to kick the door- he thought it hilarious.

jaxjacky pleased you had your ears cleared and you can now hear. I hope you will soon be able to resume your quiz evenings and the meat draws.

grandmabatty I hope your feet have been less painful today.

I’ve actually spent the day doing very little at DD1s, petting the dog, emptied and refilled the dishwasher and watched a lot of the Winter Olympics! So good that we are on the same time and not 10 hours different.

I’ll be going to bed soon, so night night everyone, sleep well.

Jaxjacky Tue 10-Feb-26 21:06:09

kitty’s remark made me laugh…
I achieved today, a very pleasant young lady came to the house and microsuctioned my ears, made me happy on two fronts.
Clean ears and I’d been able to ‘do’ something myself 🙂
Sun this morning turned to a very dense heavy drizzle.
I do hope those poorly, big and small, are improving.
Enjoy the rest of this evening, what’s left!

Nannytopsy Tue 10-Feb-26 21:00:14

Evening all! It’s quiet today in the kitchen. We have had another chilly, damp and grey day. I was so fed up of the weather that we did our power of attorney forms! Now to get everything signed before we post them.
Shopping and errands tomorrow then WI in the evening. We may have some sunshine on Saturday so we may go to the coast.
I hope the quiet corner Kitcheners are warm and comfortable. Love to the soops.

Hi kitchen pals, a quiet kitchen this evening, hope everyone is doing ok
It’s stayed dry here today but not much sunshine so it’s felt colder again. I enjoyed a couple of classes at the gym with the friendly ladies and a coffee with my pal. Got the bus home but not done much else, in fact there’s nothing I can cross off my to do list again today 🤷‍♀️
Hoping your feet have been ok today grandmabatty , worth thinking if the acupuncture might help
Don’t you dare do the line dancing Jax !
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Grandmabatty Tue 10-Feb-26 06:48:42

Castle25, no, I've never thought about acupuncture! I had it once on a shoulder injury and it was very successful. Because I'm diabetic, hence the bad feet, I have to be really careful with needles etc, so I'm not sure it would be recommended but it's worth finding out! Thank you

Castle25 Mon 09-Feb-26 23:29:22

Quiet day today. Childminding as usual on a Monday Dgd was unwell and mostly slept grandmabatty have you tried acupuncture for pain relief for your feet. I’ve had it several times for various pains with good effect. Thinking of all who are unwell.

Hello kitchen people.

I took my car for its first service today, I left the house at 8.15 am and didn’t get home until 1 pm. I was out again at 2 pm doing Craft over the road. There were just four of us. I took my knitting and a chocolate cake.

Thinking of the Soops and the FGT2S 🌹

Sleep 💤 tight.

blossoming pleased you’re warm and cosy again! Night night

Blossoming Mon 09-Feb-26 21:41:19

Good evening all, no walk today, the plumber was here fot most of the day sorting out a problem the heating. All sorted now, so the house is cosy again grin

kittylester Mon 09-Feb-26 21:25:53

I too have bought and planted scores of snowdrops over the years. I think the squirrels must really enjoy them. Anyway the two houses opposite have masses which look fabulous.

I'm sorry GBatty about your feet. That must be really debilitating.

After a quick catchup of all the posts, I thought jaxjacky was going linedancing which didn't seem such a great idea. So glad I was confused.

I think it must be time for bed. NNGB

Hello everyone, good to read of some sunshine in some parts of the country. Sadly not here in Essex today, but we did have some yesterday morning.
I went for a walk this morning and met up with some dog walking friends. I saw my friend with dementia this afternoon, I’m dog and grandchildren minding tomorrow so couldn’t see her then. Their heating wasn’t working so it was cold in there. The plumber came while I was there and sorted it out, it was warming up by the time I left.

grandmabatty I hope your feet are less painful tomorrow and that Dgs2 is in a better mood tomorrow. It can’t be easy to deal with when you’re in pain and feeling a bit under the weather.
Enjoy the line dancing brook and thank you for the photo of the snowdrops in the woods. I’ve planted loads in my garden over the years but they never come up!

Best wishes to those who are struggling and those in the quiet corner.

Grandmabatty Mon 09-Feb-26 19:15:40

Good evening kitchen folk. Brook that's a lovely spring photo. Enjoy your line dancing. jaxjacky I hope your hip is behaving itself. Grannygravy enjoy the bedtime story.
I've struggled today. It's been a bad feet day for me , however I've taken it slowly. I'm also developing a cold sore on my mouth, a sign im under par. I had a nap this morning then worked for an hour in the school library before picking up the boys. Dgs2 has been difficult all day, before and after nursery. He finished by spilling loads of water in the bathroom. The wall was deluged and the floor sodden. It took me ages to clear up. Everything today has been, "No" or "I don't want to." Hopefully tomorrow will be better 🤞 Dinner was gammon, potato croquettes and cauliflower cheese. I'm going to go to bed soon and give those feet a chance. Painkillers at eight. Have a good evening kitchen folk.

Hi kitchen friends 🙋‍♀️

The Imp is here for his weekly sleepover, he is showered and fed and having 30 minutes on RoBlox (all he is allowed)

DH is out, should be back around 7ish, so a mad rush to cook and eat dinner, and get The Imp in bed with a bedtime story by 8pm.

Lovely photo brook2704

Be patient Jaxjacky hopefully you will be out and about soon.

Thinking of our dear soop along with all our friends in the quiet corner 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Mon 09-Feb-26 17:28:12

Very pretty brook, thanks for the picture.
Ground hog day here, watched some Olympics, we did have some sun earlier, rain again now. My son called in, he’s enjoying independent living.
I hope those absent are faring well and our quiet corner friends are having a gentle day.
Enjoy your evening.

brook2704 Mon 09-Feb-26 16:15:48

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been quite a nice day here and we’ve seen sunshine for the second day running
We enjoyed breakfast out at a farm cafe this morning then a walk through some woodlands. Lots of snowdrops out which were lovely to see. This evening for a change I’m going out line dancing, I don’t really like driving in the dark but DH kindly said he’d run me and go for a swim at the gym whilst I’m there. So it’ll be an early dinner for us both and then off out
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, especially dearest soop and the fgts, take care all

Hello kitchen people:

I was up by around 7 am to wave goodbye to elder son and granddaughter. I went back to bed for half an hour, got up again and went to church.

We decided to buy another cat bed. We have a double one for the cats but only one - Milo - has been sleeping in it. The other cat - Ripley - sleeps next to the scratching post on the kitchen floor.

Guinea fowl is a more flavourful version of chicken! I made stock today with the carcass.

Have a good evening everyone - we’ll be watching the Pottery Off.

A grey day that eventually dropped rain, cooler too. MrJ has prepped dinner, beef and veg, he’s had to do so much since this dratted hipgate.
You sound much better Grandmabatty I share your slug horror, they hide under the lids of the outside bins, yuk.
Disappointing utbb good job you ordered early.
A wave to the quiet corner 👋👋.
Have a pleasant evening all.

Grandmabatty Sun 08-Feb-26 17:11:36

Utbb what a disappointment for you. I hope you can find something suitable.
Brook the garden is too wet for me. I have a horror of slugs and encountered one when I was putting out the rubbish. A quick retreat. 😂

brook2704 Sun 08-Feb-26 16:29:22

We had some sunshine here this morning SueD I’m saying this very quietly but it actually felt a little bit warm. I managed a couple of hours gardening, mainly tidying and cutting off dead stems from last year. We sat out for coffee and a biscuit and listened to the birds singing - so lovely. However it didn’t last long and the rain came in this afternoon ☔️
Pleased to hear you’re feeling much better grandmabatty and getting lots done - it’s strange as I can happily potter in the garden for hours but don’t like doing the housework inside …
Well done with your walking Blossoming sounds like you’re doing great
A disappointment with the top uttb I hope you can find something else suitable soon

SueDonim Sun 08-Feb-26 15:49:18

It’s good to read of your lovely weekends and the improvements in health. flowers for those not feeling their best.

A quiet one for us, Dh has been sleeping a lot still. My best friend came over yesterday for tea/coffee and cakes and we had such a nice time, just chatting and laughing. Friends for over forty years and we still haven’t run out of things to say to each other!

I had hoped to do a little tidying in the garden but the rain is on again. It was almost sunny for a moment this morning so there must be hope for a spring day soon!

Take care, everyone. Xxx

I am in the middle of cooking a roast dinner, the first for ages.
So far it going to pan, everything prepared and the oven on in 15 minutes for the chicken.
So pleased you feel betterGrandmabatty I don’t feel I ever shall but batting on.
I received a camisole top from Next today ,hoping it would complete my outfit for a wedding in a couple of weeks. What a disappointment, it looked like a piece of rag and possibly been worn.
I can’t put a review for public viewing yet but I shall and the company will get a strong email.
It’s back to the drawing board for now.
Enjoy your evening if you can and best wishes as always to those struggling.

Blossoming Sun 08-Feb-26 15:25:40

Good afternoon all, today MrB and I have had a long walk along the riverside path and visited my favourite sitooterie that I haven’t seen for a very long time.

I’m currently practicing using a walking stick around the house so that I will be quite nifty with it in time for my niece’s wedding in September.

So pleased to hear you finally got your surgery and this time it was the right surgery Neine.

I don't think I've ever had guinea fowl llfl.
I'm definitely on the mend from whatever ailed me. I've been to Aldi, emptied and loaded the dishwasher, tidied away all the clothes in my bedroom, watered the houseplants and thoroughly dusted all the venetian blinds. A gammon is roasting and a cauliflower bubbling away merrily. Ds is making a roast dinner too for himself. His first ever despite his great age of 39! We are being entertained by countless photos. Shortly I'll polish then a quick hoover. Clearly I have a housemaids soul as that makes me happy. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 07-Feb-26 22:37:46

Hello kitchen people,

It’s been lovely having elder son and granddaughter to stay. They enjoyed guinea fowl for lunch with all the trimmings. They are off tomorrow at 7.30 am as granddaughter has a lacrosse lesson.

I’m thinking of those in the kitchen with difficulties, together with the FGTS2s. 🪻

Sleep 💤 tight.

brook2704 Sat 07-Feb-26 18:04:22

I’ll also have to get on iPlayer to see if I can watch Nessun Dorma, I love it
We’ve had an enjoyable day here, hairdressers first thing followed by a little trip out to Beauly, a small village not far from Inverness. There’s a gorgeous cafe there so we treated ourselves to lunch then we had a wander around the interesting shops and walked round the ruins of the Priory for a while. There were lots of snowdrops in the gardens which were lovely to see, definite signs of spring in the air!
Jax you’re doing really well, hope things get much easier for you soon and you can get a bit more mobile
Pleased you’re feeling a bit better grandmabatty and hope you sleep better tonight
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x
