Your hair looks gorgeous GG13! Love the colour.
Good Morning Wednesday 27th May 2026
Hope nobody minds me opening a new kitchen.
Cake, Tea & Fizz on the side 🍰🍾🫖
Your hair looks gorgeous GG13! Love the colour.
Wow granny gravy such beautiful hair! I’m green with envy. I’ve kept mine short for many years (apart from during the lockdowns) because I’m useless at styling it myself.
Well done fgt you deserve a treat for dealing with all the ‘sadmin’.
brook enjoy your dancing weekend! My back felt much better this morning thank you, but I damp dusted all the skirting boards throughout the house and vacuumed the stairs and upstairs, so it’s aching again now. It will be better in the morning 🤞.
Littlest had a fall at preschool this morning and scratched her face near the eye on a stick, so DD2 had to go and bring her home. The optician had a look at her eye, but all seems ok although her eyelid is a bit swollen. She was quite happy to play with DD1’s dog this afternoon so hopefully all will be well.
The older three DGDs break up from school tomorrow for the Easter holidays, it seems very early, but Easter is next weekend.
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone.
Good evening kitchen folk. Grannygravy your hair is lovely. FGT it sounds like you have had a good day.
Another trip to the charity shop this morning. I can see daylight in my dining room! Then a tidy round and a hoover meant the house was respectable. This afternoon I drove to Stirling for art class where I spent two hours happily painting. I am quite pleased with progress so far. Once home, I did more clearing of the hall cupboard. I've had chicken and chips for dinner and I will watch tv tonight. My new mats arrived for my new car- a gift from dd and dsil. They're very swish! Dd and Dsil were at dgs1s parents night and, as expected, he got a glowing report. So a good day all told.
Tomorrow I'll tidy the boys room and have one last visit to a charity shop. I intend to clean the glass and windows too. I meant to do it today but ran out of time. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk
Well done FGT2’👏👏👏 cheers 🥂
You can see the train station across the road!
I do love living in the town centre there’s a buzz and everything is so accessible.
I’m in a bar (see pic) it’s one of the favourites we had and I haven’t been in for a year. I’ve seen friend this afternoon which was wonderful such a nice couple who we’ve known for many years .
Then I went to the salon for a French manicure and as I crossed the road to go home I decided spur of the moment to dive in here for a pinot blush bc I can.
Himself would be proud of me I think.
I did the last of the ‘sadmin’ today as our Yorkshire Lass described it and this is a ‘well done you’ drink before I go home to eat. Life can still be good at times.
That hair is so glamorous Grannygravy this little white haired old lady is so jealous.😔😞
I have been to the hairdressers, cut, high/low lights and straightened (well it will be curl and kink free until the morning 😹)
Popped into M & S Food Hall for goodies and Next for t-shirts for GC.
The 11yr old is here for his weekly sleepover, he requested burgers (homemade) for dinner, so that is what we have. DH has announced in will cook them on the griddle, the house will smell like a BBQ for days…
Hi all, another cold day, clouds, sun and a brief shower. My daughter called in this morning, we are invited for a roast on Easter Sunday ✅. Then a friend came for coffee, we had a good chat too, meant my late breakfast/brunch wasn't until nearly 1, but good to see her.
Phone call from another friend and I now have ideas for her husband’s birthday next month, ordered straight away. Next, new pillows were delivered, ours have given their best, they will be binned.
Very pleased to see Beechgrove starts again on the 3rd April.
Have a wonderful weekend brook - I think my legs have forgotten how to cross!
How wearing utbb, but best to go with the flow for your friend, you’re very kind.
We love a Premier Inn, comfortable and warm, a weekend away, smashing.
Right, I’ll be quiet now! Have a pleasure evening all.
Good afternoon all.
I had a somewhat trying day yesterday so didn’t get round to reading or posting.
I had my hair cut in the morning and feel it is too short, however it will grow so I will just ignore it.
Then my friend up the road came, she is difficult at the best of times having, by her own admission, no friends but me.
She repeated that yesterday, but apart from having no conversation but family ,sadly she is getting confused.
She has two GGS’s and for 7 months now has been eagerly awaiting the birth of a GGD.
After about 20 minutes of aimless chat she dropped into the conversation that the baby has been born.
I knew by phone immediately about the other two.
Then she couldn’t remember baby’s name but said she weighed 7 lbs 16 ozs.
I let that go, it is upsetting to see her go down like that.
We had all four seasons yesterday, hail, snow, rain and periodic bursts of sunshine so bright I had to close the blinds.
Brooke I hope you enjoy your dancing weekend, I am so ready for a decent hotel stay, over Easter I am meeting my D and GD for 3 nights in Nottingham but we are staying in a Premier Inn, cheap and cheerful but it is my treat and just two rooms for three nights now cost more than a holiday abroad used to cost not a hundred years ago.
I have booked assisted train travel this morning, such a marvellous system.
I am mindful how lucky I am to still be capable of travelling and know many would like to be able to do so, so my thoughts are with you.
A very wintry day up here, alternating between snow showers and hailstorms, 🥶 I enjoyed the usual Wednesday classes at the gym and the catch up over coffee with friends - that’s the best bit
We had chicken biryani earlier, nice and warm and filling. I’ve been packing my bag this evening as I’m off on a line dancing weekend tomorrow, not far from Invernes at a hotel in Carrbridge. DH will be fending for himself and no doubt flicking through all the TV channels and watching lots of sport and old films 🤭
Hoping your back behaves redcar
Definitely no leg crossing Jax!
Hoping all goes well nannytopsy
Grannmarie ❤️
Special thoughts to all in the quiet corner, take care all x
Hi everyone, goodness it’s been a cold and windy day today, with a few showers, fortunately of rain. I went to chair yoga this morning, but my back really didn’t like it much so I chickened out of the meeting I had intended to attend this evening. I’m sitting in a comfortable chair, supported by cushions and with a hot wheat back on my back.
I did manage to dust the dining room, hall and lounge and vacuumed the lounge and hall. Then turned my attention to putting some of my godmother’s photos into some sort of order. There are very few photos really, for such a long life, but obviously there were few taken during the war and photography was an expensive hobby after the war. She hated having her photo taken too and used to pull faces at the camera. Interesting to find a photo of (I think) my great grandparents.
jaxjacky you did well to have a walk today, I nearly got blown over just going out to the garage.
I hope everyone has had a good enough day and has a good nights sleep tonight.
Talking of walks, missing Blossoming.
Hi all, a short walk today, cold and very windy. I did email a review of a book to my book club, book a blood test and faff with grocery delivery list.
MrJ missed the heavy showers hoeing emerging weeds in our small veg bed.
Oven f&c just eaten.
Nannytopsy I have everything crossed for Friday 🤞( not really as legs not allowed!!).
Thoughts with those absent, Yia, SueD and the quiet corner.
Utbb 😱 mice and I are not friends!!! I'm glad you got rid of it. I would have spent downstairs too but not slept. I hope things work out for your family. Brook your hair sounds lovely. Redcar that's so sad about your friend.
The wind is blowing, I have had a busy day.
Nightie Night 🙋♀️
A dry but cloudy day here, and it’s been breezy too. Tonight is supposed to be wet and windy, turning colder later in the night.
I had a slightly longer walk this morning, then just pottered around indoors before going to see my dementia friend this afternoon. She was awake all the time and mumbling, but not actually saying words. She was such an intelligent lady who held down a very high powered job, it’s heartbreaking to see her like this now.
utbb how awful to have a nouse in your bed! What a generous cat you have! We used to feed my dementia friends cat when they were away, but fortunately they didn’t have a catflap so all “gifts” were left in the porch for us! Including a dismembered baby hare!
fgt an interesting afternoon for you, especially as you worked at the hospital.
brook, I’m pleased your hair appointment was successful, let’s hope the colour lasts!
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.
Oh Uttb how awful about the mouse in your bed, no wonder you slept downstairs, I would have too
Good that your GS has a place at sixth form college, well done to him 👏
Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok - a successful hair appointment this afternoon, I went for the usual root tint but with some highlights too, I’ve not had them for ages but my colour looks such a lot better now with no orange/brassy tones - a good result but will see how it lasts …
Pleased you’ve had a better day today fgt
Enjoy your rest grandmabatty, you definitely deserve it
Good evening ,we have had a dull but calm day until the middle of the afternoon when it went quite dark and the wind got up.
Since then it has absolutely poured with rain and very windy.
At one point the tv went off “due to interference “
It was lashing down at the time but was mere minutes before it was restored.
I have also come to bed early after my very disturbed night.
If you didn’t read my thread, Molly bought a baby mouse in and I found it in my bed about 3 am.
I slept on the sofa downstairs but we caught it mid morning.
I had very little sleep so was really ready tonight.
Generally an upset day.
My autistic GS had an interview at a very well respected 6th form college.
It could have gone either way but he has been given a place conditional on his grades which we are not expecting to be up to scratch but they have offered him a place to retake Maths and English .
He is capable of charming the birds from the trees if he likes the people but is not prepared to put the work in to do well in the exams.
A real challenge to his dad and me.
A very complex boy.
Another unsettling episode involving my GG’s boyfriend who had applied for a new job and after the interview stage 4 candidates were invited to give a presentation, his was last week and he felt it went well however no decision has been made and it is a week since his presentation.
I feel they may have decided not to fill the post but am keeping my thoughts to myself.
Have a decent night everyone.
‘Evening All’
It’s been cold, windy and wet here this afternoon. Brr! Such a difference from Friday & Saturday. I’ve had a good day, met up with friends at a Ladies Group in a local bar to hear a talk from a retired general surgeon from the hospital where some of us worked. He’s written a book, proceeds to a local hospice. I bought two and also gave a donation in memory of Himself.
Good evening kitchen folk. It's been a nasty day here with wind and torrential rain at times. Cold too. The boys were very good today and dgs2 was a wee sunny boy. Not always the case! Dgs1 is usually a good boy. I managed to catch the fish van and had lemon sole with homemade chips done in the air fryer. The Eve's pudding can wait till tomorrow. I have come to bed to be lazy and read for a while. I might get up later for a cuppa. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk. I'm thinking of Soop and GrannMarie in particular but lots of you are in my thoughts.
I love my grey. Colouring wasn’t working any longer and kept going blonde instead of brunette. Good haircut today, quite a sleek blow dry.
Hi all, miserable outside, windy with heavy drizzle, we did get to the cashpoint and butcher this morning, two ticks off the list.
Oh I do hope your toes are now sorted llfl it has dragged on for a while.
Well done on the catering front corner I’ve been spoilt with MrJ cooking, but he does owe me 26 years or so! Tbh I’ll be pleased when I can start again.
Hair colouring - yes, I’m debating colouring mine after it’s cut, it’s it been it’s natural colour for years, now it’s grey. I do colour it myself, nice n easy twice a year, if I do it’ll be medium ash blonde.
I’m just home from the gym and having a quick rest and a sandwich before going off to the hairdressers soon. My hair is very fine and thinning too cornergran, I’m not sure what to do with it. I’m still getting it coloured but not really liking it much as the colours are too warm. According to my hairdresser it’s just my type of hair shrug 🤷♀️ I’ll have to embrace the grey one day but not quite ready yet…
Good to hear your toes are now sorted Llfl in time for the summer sandal season too!
Hoping Soop is doing ok, take care all x
