Well. What did everyone make of that? Opening for a new series, obviously, but a horrible ending.

I’m still watching, having only just binged watched series one. Loving it, but very nerve wracking. So I’ve not seen the ending as yet!

Edge of your seat stuff, just what I like.

Allira Wed 04-Feb-26 09:56:53

why did the bad guys win?

It reflects real life!

Melandme Wed 04-Feb-26 09:55:07

The series started off a bit slow, until Hugh Lawrie and Olivia Coleman joined in. But the ending was awful, why did the bad guys win? I know they're planning another series so they had to keep HL alive, but even so. Not sure if I'll watch any more.

It has put me off Hugh Lauriehmm

Nothing could put me off Hugh Laurie!

Delene100 Tue 03-Feb-26 22:34:18

I hope so because series 2 took too long. I completely forgot what series 1 was about, except Teddy was in it.

knspol Tue 03-Feb-26 20:07:16

Didn't think much of this series at all, quite boring and a little confusing in places. First series was so good, this was a let down.

Who knew Bertie Wooster could be this bad??
Laurie is excellent as a baddie.

This should have a spoiler alert!

We haven’t watched the final one yet!

If anyone wasn’t something really excellent to replace your Sunday evening fix try Tehran on Apple TV.

I second the recommendation for" Tehran " which is another cracking thriller.
To any fans of Billy Bob Thornton try " Landman". I bullied the OH into paying £15 foe Season 1 and it does not disappoint.
It's about the Oil Industry in America,
As a massive sweetener also on the cast list is Madmen's John Hamm. Appreciably older but still catnip to the hormones.

Enjoyed it, despite some lame plot fails. Hugh Laurie is fantastic as a baddie. Scared me!

Labradora Tue 03-Feb-26 17:48:40

I've got all the Le Carrés and I'm pretty sure that I've read The Night Manager.
Full disclosure I can't remember any of it and that's an indictment of me not the book or the author.
I love a good spy story so devoted to the late author.

Calendargirl Tue 03-Feb-26 17:32:26

Angela’s probably not dead, will rise again for Series 3.

The little girl’s dad must be around somewhere.

jomo Tue 03-Feb-26 17:28:56

Same here hated teddy being shoot also little girl being left on her own well i was gutted..

Gummie Tue 03-Feb-26 17:09:15

Didn't enjoy season 2. Wasn't nearly as good as season 1. You could tell it wasn't written by John Le Carre. But season 3 is in work and I will have to watch it to finish the story.

AuntieE Tue 03-Feb-26 17:08:39

If this is the film version of Le Carrés' book of the same name, the ending is horrible there too.

It is always a good idea to read the book first, then see the film!

ArthurAskey Tue 03-Feb-26 17:06:48

Richard Roper is a nasty piece of work eh?

Labradora Tue 03-Feb-26 16:56:31

I was a bit disappointed at first because it looked like a rerun of the original plot but I started to enjoy it as the new characters kicked in.
Completely wrong prediction for the ending though, I thought Teddy would kill Roper once Teddy learned of the betrayal.
Shocking ending killing Teddy and agree shocking shooting the wholly innocent dogs- entirely consistent with the amoral Roper character though.
Pine is down but not out ,presumably, or else there wouldn't be a third series on the cards.
Will Roper eventually come to the sticky end that he deserves in the middle of the Oxfordshire countryside??
We'll have to "watch that space......."

Just when I was beginning to like Teddy!

Me too. And he was so handsome!

I got a bit confused with it all at the end. Who was in allegiance with who. Who were the bad guys and who were the good guys.

I didn't expect Olivia Coleman to get shot. It seemed a bit pointless to have that happen at the end. Maybe she didn't want to be in the third series.

I hope it's not ten years until the next series.

Maybe she isn’t dead. Maybe she just looks dead and she’ll be back in the next series whenever that will be. (there was an awful lot of blood though)😳.

I’ll have to watch it again as I couldn’t keep up with so much happening.

How many years was it supposed to be since the first series?

Angela Burr’s daughter looked too young to me.

I think it said four years later at the start of the second series

Llamedos13 Mon 02-Feb-26 11:47:27

The Guardian states season three is already in the works.

Allira Mon 02-Feb-26 10:16:31

Why were these secret agents so happy to stand in front of open windows?

I know! Curtains? Blackout blinds?
Try John Lewis or Dunelm 😁
