Good morning.
Thank you for all the condolence messages re. my nephew yesterday. We still do not know the actual circumstances of what happened . My niece is hoping to hear more today.
Not much on the agenda today for us. I’ll go back now and read all your news.
Wishing all a good day especially those with worries, illness and troubles.

Good morning from Kent where it is a dry and cloudy seven degrees.

Had a healthy day yesterday. Home-made chicken soup, roasted veg, fruit, plenty of water. Helped to chase off this virus.

Must go to the library today to return some books which I've renewed twice already. Finally finished them.

Wishing all a happy Monday.

Good morning everyone from a still dark and damp Northampton, drizzly rain forecast all day.

No yoga this morning as I have to wait in for the washing machine repair man; it should be before 8.30, but I'm not holding my breath.

Had a lovely lunch out with all the family yesterday, so lovely to be all together to celebrate the three birthdays.

Will have a quiet day in today to rest my knee which is bruised and sore after I tripped and fell at home yesterday evening. I think DS may be coming to take a parcel to the Post office for me. I also have two charity sacks to put out for collection.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning from a breezy but dry Torbay following a day of some sunshine yesterday, when before it was light, DH could hear birdsong (I wasn’t wearing my hearing aids) and I was thrilled to spot a jay in the park opposite here. Beautiful!

After the early service yesterday, which was partly by candlelight in acknowledgment of Candlemas, we went to Lidl and found the roads busy with people heading off to Exeter or the local shopping areas.

I hope your Dad is soon feeling better, Pantglas also Grandmabatty copes ok with her charges. Thoughts with those not posting.

Back to Move It Or Lose It today after a two month break! My poor joints don’t know what they’re in for but will doubtless rise to the challenge!!

Take care, wherever you are. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Rain? No idea!

We didn’t go to the local Farmers Market yesterday. OH wanted to watch the tennis final. He used to play once or twice a week before his knees went. We went to a garden centre instead, had a soup lunch and bought a few things in the farm shop. I topped up on aubergine pickle which we love with curry.

Our cleaner is due today. I will do a Waitrose shop and also collect my monthly prescription from the Health centre. I will also attend a diabetes prevention meeting.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Sheffield

I have a prayer group at my local church this morning and then working this afternoon

Our DGS is 15 tomorrow so we will pop over to take his present this evening.
We can’t go tomorrow as he is busy at the football match. His mum would like to take him out for a meal to celebrate , but all he wants is a pie at the match and a cup of Bovril

Take care everyone flowers

Morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.

Yesterday was a funny day though not for DD2. She went to hospital in extreme pain. It looks as though she has kidney stones. She had to move hospital about 11 pm and then was sent home with pain killers and told to go back this morning.

We will wait and see whether we are needed. Dh is hoping to go to our gp about his cough. It is also DD1's 51st birthday.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s less cold this morning, but is cloudy and damp out. Looks like a similar forecast all day. Yesterday DD2 was going to take me to a local garden centre for coffee, but her sister and family arrived before we could go out! I provided coffee and cookies here instead.
I’m up early this morning (reluctantly) because an electrician is coming at 8.30 to install a new fuse box. I hope it fits into the space in the cupboard.
pantglas I hope your father feels a bit better today.
grandmabatty hopefully your grandsons will behave this morning and you can get some rest before school pick up time.

Thinking of all those who are struggling.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Michael and gransnetters on here today.
Your mention of the Chocomel brought back mouthwatering memories. Very occasionally my mum ordered Chocomel.
It used to come in glass liter bottles, the same as our milk bottles and was delivered on the doorstep very early by our milkman who delivered with his horse and cart .
The utter joy, me and my younger sisters loved it.
I just had a look at Google and now of course it comes in gaudy yellow brick packs...tut tut

Good morning Mick and all early birds on a dark still morning in Yorkshire. Have had a rubbish night, which has been disappointing, after having had a quiet day yesterday. I have been coughing and waking up and so forth for most of the night. I am not good at getting back to sleep, and even the birdsong on radio 3 was very boring today and did not lure me back to sleep, so gave up and got up.

Hoping that I will ease up from the coughing, as I am booked to go to the Makaton course today and the next two weeks. You need to go to all of them to gain your certificate and of course it is no good going to a second one next week if you havent done the first week and practised. Well one thing will be the use of hand signals may help over any coughing sound. There is quite a queue of people wanting to do this, and if I hadnt been good yesterday, I could have swapped places with someone else. Ah well now I am up, its not so bad.

Yesterday I had a very domestic day, but didnt achieve a great deal. Still, despite much searching around,no sign of my glasses. I do have my old pair and so will keep looking, until Jessie - the great dectective - comes on thursday. She is a marvel at finding lost items. If she cant find them, I shall have to give it up as a bad job and buy another pair . Ouch!

Still I did do quite a lot of boring domestic jobs, looked up makaton on the internet as I did have just a chance to learn some very basic bits before, and reminded myself of the things I had learned and practised them, so hopefully it will help me today. You use signs as well as saying the word, and beside helping children, who havent got language,or are perhaps somewhat deaf, and also of course toddlers, who can soon learn how to say food or drink in signing, I can see it being useful in a crowded place with friends, or stood in a queue in a cafe, being able to signal across the room to them.

So rubbish got sorted out, beds made and a general clean up and all the washing up done yesterday, which makes a change. Now I am on my own, and have little to wash up, I dont waste water washing one plate and cup etc but stack them up neatly and either do them in the evening or do them all first thing in the morning. Waste not, want not, and it was one small thing I could do to save water in the drought time, when even the water used was poured into a bucket to go out and water the plants.

I did some reading, had a check of the kitchen cupboards, so that on the way back from the course, I can get anything I am short of, and then later watched quite a bit of tv for me. So it was Call the Midwife, and Antique Road show , neither of which called for great effort on my part. But, probably like many other people, when I was working in quite a stressful job, a gentle sunday evening was the choice, ignoring all upsetting things like the news at the moment. So have no idea why I have had such a rubbish night. Fortunately apart from this mornings course, I have nothing else urgent to do, so hopeto improve by tomorrow.

Good to know you are ok and putting on some weight Mick. Pantglas, sorry to hear about your father and hope he improves soon. Lovely home made bread should help matters along. No sign of the moon from my window here GrandMattie, and still sat in my dressing gown,so I shall have a look once I get dressed. Good job you checked on your meeting. Very annoying to turn up and no one else there! Grandmabattie, hope that you are feeling a bit less wabbit and are alright to sort the grandchildren out and then have a rest in bed to recover.

Its candlemas today so hope people could perhaps light a candle and gaze at it for a little while as a calming influence to their day ( before blowing it out for safety before you go out!) Have as good a day as possible everyone

Good morning from south Glos, it isn’t raining at the moment though we too have a yellow weather warning 🤷🏼‍♀️
I battled on with my crocheting yesterday, two rounds to go, nearly 2 hours to do each round., then it’s done!
I have a Parish Councillor coming this morning to talk about the playground and the fund raising, I’m worried that DH won’t clear up the dreadful mess he’s made in the living room, heaps of paper everywhere m bags of shredded paper he’s dragged down from the loft and it’s a real mess. I would have preferred to meet elsewhere but she’s coming to help me with the mail drop on the estate. I have asked him to tidy it up several times since Thursday…….he’s just added more stuff.
I can really do without all the extra stress, I slept very badly worrying about it.
I hope today goes well for you 🌹

karmalady Mon 02-Feb-26 06:09:51

Good morning from s somerset with yet again another yellow warning for rain

All my new kitchen linens are finishing off on a rack in the kitchen, I had to bring them in as it started to rain. I worked in my utility room first thing and have found a decent amount of space, due to all my slow-decluttering. I am happy with the result and have a shelf for my new cloths

Pantglas I hope dad is much better today

Today will be whatever it wants to be and I will go with the flow

Have a good day

Grandmabatty Mon 02-Feb-26 06:08:07

Bellasnana it's a couple of hours before school and a couple of hours after school. I'll survive!

Bellasnana Mon 02-Feb-26 05:58:39

Good morning from Malta where a fine, but very windy day is forecast with a high of 17°C.

Yes, grandMattie, I’m on cloud nine about the tennis results but am also having withdrawal symptoms now it’s over!😄

Sorry you were so poorly in the night Grandmabatty I do think you are very courageous to be doing childcare after all that. I hope you will feel better. 💐
Ditto your dad, Pantglas. 🌺

I’ve got Milo dog today as it’s their cleaner’s day. I think I’m also having DGS2 who has croup and asthma and ended up on the nebuliser at the local health centre last evening. Poor little chap.

Here’s hoping the week goes well for you all.🤗

Grandmabatty Mon 02-Feb-26 05:43:03

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and damp but not actually raining. Homemade bread and butter sounds good to me Pantglas. I, too, was in bed most of the day then was mightily sick in the night. Must be a thing going round.
Today is early childcare day and I'm feeling a bit wabbit. A good Scots word for under the weather. I haven't been sick for a number of hours so I'll head for the boys in a while. I didn't go shopping yesterday and will have to do it today then I'll have a lie down till pick up time. I'm not being a martyr. I'm probably more tired than anything. Have a good day all.

grandMattie Mon 02-Feb-26 05:39:11

Just checked th3 diary. WI committee is next week. Duh!🙄

grandMattie Mon 02-Feb-26 05:37:49

Good morning from Bristol. We had yellow warnings of rain overnight, which never happened!
pant, I’m so sorry about your father, hope everything has settled down now.
I have just heard that today is the actual Groundhog Day, but judging by the snow storms, I doubt their spring will be early.
Anyone seen the “snow moon“? Apparently it’s the last full moon before the meteorological spring. I can’t see it here as there are too many buildings, perhaps when I go for the paper in an hour.
bellas, you must be thrilled with the tennis results!
Nothing much happening chez Mattie. Got a WI committee meeting this evening, probably goto tesco…
May your week be kind, hugs especially to fgt.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from a dry and dark north Wales coast- lashings of rain over the weekend with more to come this week😡. Still, that’s horrid January out of the way - didn’t it seem longer this year🤷‍♀️ - maybe just me…

Drama with Dad last night involving mercy dash to his bedside after he’d spent the day in bed feeling unwell after 🤮 etc. will trot back this morning with some of my homemade bread and butter for toast and hope he’s better 🤞.

Hope you all have a better week with all your challenges- I suspect mine aren’t going anywhere anytime soon!
