I’m so sorry, utbb. It’s hard with the mixture of abilities and acting in loco parentis. Hugs 🤗 🫂

Good Morning Monday 2nd February 2026
(46 Posts)Good Morning Early Birds ,
Dark but looking muggy outside here in Brackley this morning.
Anyway todays plans are to get the bus mid morning to Bicester ,after a breakfast and some TV and a tidy up .
Hopefully chat to people that I know.
My health OK slight increase weight wise , I also like having Chocomelk drinks excuse Dutch /Flemish pronouncement as when on Dutch rail system it was a regular item on the snack bar.
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning all.
I am late again, not because I slept in but another difficult morning with my GS who hasn’t gone to school yet again.
I really don’t need this stress but it is unavoidable.
It is causing conflict with my GD, his half sister and I really don’t want to be at odds with her.
I had hoped February would herald a better month but it seems not.
At least it is not health related which so many of our friends are dealing with and my kindest thoughts go to them.
Late again after a succession of phone calls but the rain has stopped for now which I will take as a positive. Had forgotten that there is a flower club meeting this afternoon until reminded that I am driving. When did I become so incompetent?
Good morning from Durham. Another 3D day - damp, dull and dreary. It was lovely to be welcomed back to the GM thread - thank you!
Lovely afternoon yesterday with DGS2. He was a bit naughty, but so funny, it’s difficult to be cross with him. The moon was huge, as I headed home.
The football result wasn’t good, but I was pleased to see a planned right wing march in Newcastle was a damp squib, as other than the organizers, barely a handful of supporters turned up.
I’m late, as I’ve dropped my car off for an MOT. It’s not due a service, but I’ve asked the garage to check things first, I’d hate it (and the expense) for it to fail on something that could’ve been dealt with prior to the test. This is the first car I’ve had that’s serviced every 2 years, which makes me a bit uneasy, as I do a high-ish mileage.
Usual Monday coffee with a friend, who will pick me up - fingers crossed she can drop me off for my car later.
Hope pant’s Dad is feeling better. Take it easy GMB. Thinking of the FGTs, MD, Dustyangel, Soop and so many more today. Not a good start to February for so many.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning all
Another damp, grey and cold morning. Everything is so soggy so no chance of tidying anything in the garden yet, plus it’s too cold to be doing gardening yet. At least the snowdrops look cheery.
Coffee morning group this morning then the usual pottering about when I get back.
Wishing all the poorlies and those of you struggling a better day today 💐.
Good morning all from overcast Lancashire. We are off to Lytham for some fresh air and a seaside walk, I will read the thread later.
Good morning from South Lanarkshire, no rain at the moment though it’s probably not far away.
Hope you get some rest Grandmabatty and that kitty and pantglas’s Dad and DD are doing better today.
DH was trying yesterday to dredge up any details about his paternal grandparents who he didn’t ever know so I started a family tree for him on Ancestry. Several hours later I was able to give him an outline of his father’s family history. I get so engrossed once I start on that site, everything else gets forgotten.
I’ve an appointment for my shingles vaccination this afternoon but otherwise have a free day. I must try not to fritter it away.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning from a dull Co Armagh
Groceries to be got today , making a list , something is nagging me to add but can’t for the life of me think what it is !
I remember years ago phoning home to ask Jim to read out the list to me , I had left it on the counter
He started off , I thought , this is strange ! Then realised he was reading the ingredients for that nights dinner , !!
I’m still coughing , hope it goes soon
Have as good a day as possible everyone
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 5°C, with showers forecast.
Pants, so stressful, when roles are reversed and we become the parent. I hope your father has improved overnight. 💐
GMB, is there no-one else, who could take the boys to school, the other in laws? You should be in bed.
We managed a visit to DIL yesterday, but it left me exhausted and the rest of the afternoon was spent dozing. The dizzy pills make me quite woozy.
It so frustrating, not being able to do much. I just want my independence back,
DH does a very good impersonation of a gaoler.
We did find DIL in better spirits and her system is at last, slowly getting back to normal
DS and my wee Dollie arrived, when we were there. She was so proud of having dressed herself in a very trendy outfit, including a flashing hairband and lacy fingerless gloves, both purchased by me.
For Christmas, I bought her a bag of them, in every garish colour available. She wears them all the time, matched to her outfit.
She is certainly her gran's daughter! 😍
No hospital visits today, there is a very, very slim chance DIL may be discharged and I'm not feeling great today.
There is a shortage of beds and DIL had a trial at climbing stairs with the physios and passed with flying colours.
The other reason is that DH is going to build my new kitchen trolley, which was delivered rwo weeks ago, but life got in the way.
I have a feeling of foreboding. Normally, I would have got out of the way, but I'm trapped here. ⏸
Yesterday, DIL's mother arrived home from church at the same time as we arrived back from the hospital..
I went to update her.
She delivered the some surprising news. We have the same GP, and apparently, my once excellent and caring, but now useless GP has quietly left the practice,
His name has been removed from the partners' list on the website and I as a patient, on his list, I have not been informed. All very strange. I wonder, if others had the same experience as I did.
Finally, this may amuse you, or perhaps not.
The lady in the opposite bed, was asleep and had not moved for the whole time we were there.
I began to wonder if she was dead.
A nurse checked her and asked everyone to leave the word. I said to DH, I think she has died.😔,
About five minutes later, the nurse came to tell us, we could go back in,
As we got to DIL's bed, the nurse squeezed by with a commode!
I was thankfully mistaken. 🤣
Best wishes to all.
Dragonfly, you and your DH will be in my prayers.
I must go and quickly order, yet another bundle of meds, I totally forgot yesterday!
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. No snow only grey as usual.
I went to a friend's garden bonfire yesterday to celebrate the Snow moon, St Bride's, his birthday, Imbolc, Candlemas and the start of Spring.
I spent a lot of time there commiserating with a couple just home from NZ where their DGC now live. 😕 We all seem to have distant family.
I hope to make marmalade today and finish a jug in the pottery.
Exercise class first.
Thinking of you who have an uphill struggle.
Wishing everyone a good day. Keep safe and Keep warm.
Good morning from a grey and rainy NE.
Yesterday the sun appeared for a short time so I went into the garden for some fresh air. There were weeds sprouting everywhere and lots of leaves from the neighbour's palm trees. I did tidy up a little and then retired to the sofa to watch a film, Roter Himmel.
Nothing planned for today but the kitchen floor could do with mopping.
Hope all poorly people are feeling better soon.
Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Our neighbours moved yesterday they are going to Dubai, they haven't sold up but will be renting so have no idea as to who will be moving in they've left it in the hands of an agency.
As of yet no plans for today will see where the day takes me.
Pantglas hope you find your dad a little better, and Grandmabatty I hope you improve as the day progresses.
Take care all have the best day you can ☀️.
Good morning from Durham.
We've had a busy weekend with two GC sleeping over (parents celebrating DD1 birthday).
GD2 had a birthday party to attend and GS3 was nicely set up with a rolling programme of football matches to watch. After a roast chicken dinner in the evening we all did cosy up together to watch the 2017, "Swallows and Amazons" film which they both enjoyed.
GS3 then retreated to watch his Newcastle match joined by DH. They unfortunately couldn't stay with it until the end. Not a favourable result!
Today it's keep fit then school pick up later. Haven't a clue regarding what comes between yet, probably some meal planning plus a grocery order.
Wishing all the best possible day.
Sitting in Dermatology OP waiting for my 6 month Melanoma check up. It’s come round so quickly.
It gets me out of an Arts Society committee meeting however which makes up for being up and out at silly o clock. Amazed at how many people were driving without lights on my way here- grey, drizzling and, frankly, DARK.
Hoping for reassuring news from kittylester and sending warm wishes to all who are in pain or distress.
Morning from a dull S Hants, a good sleep.
I hope your dad has improved pantglas and grandmabatty gets her rest.
Shower and hair wash before my son calls in, daughter calling in after work later, MrJ will call in the library to pick up book club book.
I need to ring a plumber to sort out a toilet and my hairdresser friend to see if she can cut my hair here, it’s driving me scat!
Thoughts with those absent FGT.
🦩🦩
Good morning from Shropshire.Dark and drizzly at the moment.
The children were collected at midday so after an early lunch DH and I tidied up the destruction, cleaned the house then slept the afternoon away.
Today we are off to Staffordshire to collect DGS1 from school.I have to contact house clearance firms as well today re clearing mum’s house. My brothers promised a lot of help and are still saying they will help but have done nothing so house clearance it is😢We have probably sorted half of it but can’t manage the heavy lifting.
I hope your daughter is more comfortable today kitty.I had kidney stones 40 years ago while pregnant with DD1.The drs were convinced I was in labour and I spent three days on the Labour ward until they realised it was kidney stones.
I hope your dad is feeling better Pants and also that Grandmabatty is over the sickness🤞🏻
Thoughts with all our mountaineers and their family members and wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩
Good morning from a dry and dull Suffolk after some rain yesterday. I’m sorry to read of the illnesses that abound on her and hope those under the weather feel better soon.
I’m off later to pick up my dear friend and take her out for coffee. She’s doing remarkably well but won’t restart driving til the results of her latest brain scan are back and she’s had an assessment by an occupational therapist.
Hope all have a good day.
Good morning from a damp Leicestershire.
Yesterday was fun playing Scrabble with friends apart from me having difficulty moving, a byproduct of Pilates on Friday.
Today DH has an appointment with his consultant. We are a little nervous.
When we lived in the Netherlands my DS had Chocomel at school as he didn’t like normal milk.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light and looks dry, it’s cold though at 0°
Hoping your dad is feeling a bit better today pantglas and you too grandmabatty, it’s not easy looking after little ones when you’re not feeling your best
A bit of food shopping today and then I might go into town for a wander around the shops. I don’t really need anything but I’ll enjoy browsing.
Goodness BlueSapphire I hope your knee isn’t too painful and gets better quickly
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is light-ish and looks damp-ish.
Yesterday I managed to get a fair bit done in the house which now looks a whole lot better for the attention. I weeded out both my sock drawer and my scarf drawer. I only ever wear three of my light scarves - the rest are surplus to requirements, but they are silk and too good to chuck out.
GS rang in the evening as I had asked him for some idea of what he would like for his birthday next week.
Not sure what is on the agenda today - something to get me out of the house, though.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from 6 degrees Cambridgeshire feeling rather like 2 degrees. It should be a dry day so we are planning a.walk to see the snowdrops this morning.
Today is dgd1’s 20th birthday we sent her money but have no idea how she is celebrating leaving her teenage years behind. Maybe there will be some kind of communication today I will try later.
It has been a very challenging January and hoping February will bring us all some joy. Wishing all a good day and special thoughts to those struggling 💐
Good morning and it’s dark and dreary.
We still have DGD staying with us , so packed lunch to make, PE kit ready(they can wear it to school) , homework and spellings practised , breakfast and hair (very long) to brush and ‘style’. Phew!
Dd still poorly with this flu virus. It seems a lot of people have it.
This morning DIL is coming ing to help me with paperwork , bless her, she’s worth her weight in gold. Very practical, clever and a great problem solver. Calm and reassuring! Just what I need right now.
I hope all poorlies feel better today.
🌱
Good morning from a grey W Kent. A happy few hours yesterday with DS & DIL who cooked us a very nice lunch. Cleaner this morning and then U3A this afternoon, discussing crime in the local area during the 19th century, we certainly know how to have fun 😂
Best wishes to all
Good Morning from a milder but damp and cloudy south coast. Suspect there will be more rain before long.
Ironing awaits me this morning but not much else. I like the quiet rhythm of such days. Who knows what is round the corner anyway?
Kind thoughts of all our GN strugglers carrying their burdens. Wishing them some peace and calm.
Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset. Showers forecast today.
Enjoyed a riverbank walk yesterday morning, pleased to see our little river is behaving itself. Finished some paper stuff and sat and read for a couple of hours. A gentle day
This morning I must speak to the Apple folk, contact a plumber about our shower and book a hygienist appointment for the summer, Mr C forgot when he was there a couple of weeks ago. With luck that’s all other than laundry to process. Out and about somewhere yet to be determined this afternoon.
It sounds as if a rest during the day would be a good thing grandmab. Hope your daughter can be helped today kitty, your dad is comfortable pantglas and all is well for your meeting roses.
Best wishes to all. Have the best day you can everyone.
