Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s just getting light and it’s cold at about 2°. There’s snow in the forecast for later but I think we’ll just get sleety rain
Hope your little grandson is feeling much better soon bellas and your DGD improves with the new treatment Sar
Hope your Sil finds a new job soon grandmabatty
A busy day ahead as I’m off to the gym this morning for aerobics and then a volunteering session this afternoon. I should be home about 4pm and ready for a rest. Luckily I’ve got chicken to put in the slow cooker this morning, so just a few veg to prepare later
Very well done to your DGD marzipan, a lovely bookmark
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from N.Bucks where an another dull wet day is forecast.
A lovely bookmark Marzipan.
This morning I shall be making beef and ale pie. Some for tonight and the rest will go in the freezer. Likewise fish pie .
This evening for various reasons will be our first choir meeting for 6 weeks. I am looking forward to to that. I must do some warming up exercises.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, a wet, cold and windy day is forecast for today and probably for the rest of the week! Not a happy prospect really.
My new fuse box was installed yesterday and all electrical appliances reset after the interruption to supply.

I’ll catch up on the ironing today, then see my friend with dementia. Not sure how warm her house will be, they’re having repairs to their central heating system, so it may be even colder than usual!

bellasnana I hope that A&E can help with your grandson’s asthma.

Well done to your DGD marzipan, that’s a lovely bookmark. Enjoy your silver workshop this evening.

grandmabatty I hope your DSil finds anew job soon, a worrying time for the family.

sar I hope that the new biologics help your granddaughter’s asthma.

Thinking of all those with troubles and worries and hope that life gets a little easier for you.

Have as good a day as possible everyone. Keep warm and dry!

Good morning from a calm, damp Torbay following a stormy night with the warning issued being justified!

It was good to be back at my exercise class yesterday although a few friends were missing. Over the years, the teacher and her admin assistant have become friends of mine. Before Christmas, the teacher gave me a bag full of ballet items for my DGD, with which she was thrilled of course!

Today, I shall go to help with Props at the theatre, well wrapped up against the cold of the building! 🥶 I expect DH will enjoy a mooch around Torquay in my absence.

Wishing everyone with ailments a swift recovery, especially the young ones. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from a dark, damp and windy Black Country.

I was going on a walk today, but still recovering from a cold, and the weather forecasts isn't too good.

Spent yesterday going over to Mums as DB and SIL were due to go today, but because they have Novovirus cannot make it. Mum need her Dossett box topping up and prescriptions collecting from Pharmacy.

No real plans today now, but there is always something to do around the house, and always a book to read!

I love the bookmark Marzipan so clever of your granddaughter.

Apparently DGD3 (14) has a mock GCSE History exam today. Taking it a year early, so she is fairly stressed. She has Autism so understandable.

Wishing you all the best day possible. Thinking of our missing posters who have health struggles

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset.

A very patient woman finally sorted out computer issue yesterday, she was stumped for a while which made me feel less incompetent.

It seems we’re forecast heavy rain all day. Oh heck, we have a morning visit booked to replace our non working gas meter which is outside. Other than that just dust removal on the cards.

Hope there is good news about your grandson bellasnana. A worrying time.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all from a windy Black country.
Early start today DH has an cardio appointment for a check on his ICD, think he may be due for a replacement soon.
No other plans as yet will see how he feels afterwards.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Love the bookmark Marzipan you have one clever granddaughter.
Bellas hope your grandson is better soon.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it feels very chilly. I can hear the wind gusting outside and my heating has just kicked in.

Yesterday was a good day my dgd2 went into school a little easier and had a good day. Then did her two dance classes with no problems. Hoping she has turned a corner will see what today brings. We did a lovely snowdrop walk yesterday around local gardens and hoping to get out for a walk this morning before heavy rain descends.

Thinking if all those struggling with asthma particularly it is not nice. My sil has recently started biologic treatment and all is going well so far.

Wishing everyone the best day possible 💐

Good morning from Durham. It’s a very cold, windy start to the day, with rain due later tonight. The local news said we’ve had a colder, wetter and darker January than ‘usual’ with much the same forecast for February - such joy!
I’m up and ready to go, as I’m very concerned about an early Hospital appointment. It’s in a City I never go to, so I want to allow plenty of time to get there and parked. I’ll see what I want to do later when I get home.

Greyduster why not pop a splash of oil in yourself, if you’re uneasy about the warning light?

Hoping all hospital visits go to plan for others.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a dark chilly Stockport.
I don’t yet know what the day will bring with my GS.
He says he is feeling c..p but it is so hard to get much emotion out of him.
I have a GP appointment this morning, I don’t know how much I will benefit from it, we shall see.
Life is so difficult and stressful presently but I know it it so for many.
My good wishes go to everyone including GC, those unwell , there seem to be several and those talented which is delightful.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 03-Feb-26 06:57:59

Good morning Mick and all

Bellasnana poor little chap, I am asthmatic, asthma is definitely the gift that keeps on giving.

Sar53 I will keep everything crossed that these new biologics work for your DGD.

I will have to wake up The Imp as he has an 8pm start at school, and has requested dippy egg and soldiers for breakfast.

The weather is as Sar53 posted, grey, wet and miserable ☔️

Thinking of all of our friends not posting and what life is throwing at them 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from cool and damp South Lanarkshire.

Love the bookmark Marzipan, your DGD has talent.

Yesterday seemed to be busy but I’ve no idea why really. I’ve had no reaction to the shingles vaccination except for a pretty sore arm.

I’m in the charity shop today and have the added responsibility of being ‘in charge’ as there are no paid managers available today. They have been trying to fill a part time vacancy for months now with no success so I’m sometimes asked to cover (unpaid of course).

Yarn group this evening, so quite a full day.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from Sheffield

Not a good start to the day.
I went to turn the kitchen tap on to fill the kettle and the handle has come away in my hand. So now I have to find a new tap and someone to fit it.
This combined with the bathroom sink that developed a leak on Saturday, the sinks in the house are fighting back.
We do have a small sink in a shower room, and then there’s always the bath.
I’m sure we will manage until they are fixed

It was a free day until this.
I will walk to the pharmacy for my prescription which is a 20 minute walk through woods so that will be my exercise

Take care everyone flowers

Bellasnana Tue 03-Feb-26 06:42:23

Well, DD3 has just called to tell me she is taking DGS2 to A&E as the local clinic has told her to do so. So I’m up and dressed and worrying. There’s always something.😰

Greyduster Tue 03-Feb-26 06:39:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but dry at the moment. I slept badly last night which does not bode well for today. I had an oil level warning come up in my car yesterday while I was out and about and though I called into the garage where it is soon to be serviced and they said it was ok to drive until then, it preyed on my mind for the rest of the day. What happened to the days when cars had a dipstick so that you could check these things yourself. Now it’s all about the onboard computer.
I am having my ears cleared of wax this morning and so hope that everything will no longer sound muffled and horrible and I shall be able to hear my readers when I go into school this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

grandMattie Tue 03-Feb-26 06:37:24

Gorgeous bookmark, Marzipan!and yes, very Quentin Blake.

I’m so pleased for you, batty, that you managed some rest yesterday, then had a good night.

Hope your DGS is feeling better now, bellas. My experience of asthma is slight, but it sounds awful.

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Feb-26 06:33:36

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and damp. It feels very cold. Marzipan a well deserved win for your dgd. It reminds me of the illustrator Quentin Blake. Bellasnana I hope your wee chap feels better soon.
Yesterday I delivered the boys to school and nursery then went to Aldi and then home where I had a two hour nap. It did me good. I worked in the school library for a little while before picking up dgs2 then dgs1. We have a 15 minute wait between nursery and school which is tiresome. Dgs2 usually wants to run around but it was heavy rain so we sat in the car. Once they were picked up, I had a roll on ham and went to bed very early. It has done me good as this morning I feel fine.
Today will be picking them up and feeding them breakfast before school etc. Weetabix for dgs2 and Honey nut flakes for dgs1. Then dgs1 will demolish the rest of the grapes I bought yesterday! He loves fruit and i always have plenty for both boys. After they're deposited, I'll have another quiet day until I go for them. Dsil got bad news and he is being made redundant. They are very optimistic about it but I worry. Anyway, there's nothing I can do about it. Have a good day all.

Bellasnana Tue 03-Feb-26 06:10:34

Marzipan that’s a lovely bookmark, well done to your DGD.

Unfortunately, my DGS seems to have taken after his mum (DD3) who has also spent her life in and out of hospital with asthma. At 36 she still suffers severe attacks though, mercifully, not as frequently.

Sar53 Tue 03-Feb-26 06:06:04

Good morning from a very windy Essex coast. Rain is forecast today and by the look of my weather app, for the foreseeable future, oh joy !!!
I have a hygienist appointment at 10 then bits and bobs at home.
I hope your DGS feels better soon Bella, Asthma is so hard to control.
My DGD S starts a new Biologic this week which we are all praying helps her. She has missed out on so much this past year.
Wishing you all a pleasant day, thinking of everyone who is struggling , best wishes to all xx

HelterSkelter1 Tue 03-Feb-26 06:00:22

What a beautiful and clever book mark Marzipan. You have a very talented GD

mum2three Tue 03-Feb-26 05:54:45

Good morning from Lancashire. Yesterday it was very busy in town. I presume everyone had checked the weather forecast and decided that Monday was the best day for shopping. Today will be cold and windy, so a day to catch up on things.

RosesandLilac Tue 03-Feb-26 05:47:43

Good morning, a soggy start on the hillside in south Glos, yet more rain today.
I enjoyed my meeting with the Parish Councillor yesterday, after she left I did the leaflet drop, it took an hour, and put a notice on the village facebook page, so a satisfying morning.
I will finish my crochet blanket today! Just half a round to do, I was too tired to finish it yesterday. It’s about 5’ square, I dread to think how many stitches it has!
Not a lot planned for today other than the usual and the ironing, I might start crocheting a shawl, I have sorted out a pattern and yarn.
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Marzipan22 Tue 03-Feb-26 05:46:05

Bellasnana, my grandson suffered terribly from asthma as a toddler, in and out of hospital to be nebulised, needing regular inhalers. Now, at the age of eight, he seems almost to have 'outgrown' it. I hope it's the same for your little one.

karmalady Tue 03-Feb-26 05:41:52

Good morning from s somerset, grey skies and rain for the whole day

People I met yesterday were aching and fatigued because of the damp, I was tired too, from after lunch until bedtime. Quite a few of the oldies here are struggling at the moment, rain, grey skies and cold, not an uplifting combination at all

Anyway I go with the flow again today, a bit of this and a bit of that and a floor to wash.

Have a good day

Marzipan22 Tue 03-Feb-26 05:39:14

Good morning from a dark, rainy but calm Cornwall. I've just been out on my patio and the stillness is beautiful.

The 30-something plumber who came to mend my boiler yesterday was fascinated by the Boro jacket I was adding the placket to as he came in. And he saw my paintbrushes and told me his grandfather had been a signwriter, as had mine. Last time he came he mentioned the beach finds on the bathroom wall! He did eventually mend the boiler. 😁

My 10-year-old granddaughter won the school bookmark prize and every pupil was given one of her design to take home, pictured here. All of which is lovely but apparently it was announced in assembly and I know that would have mortified her!

Today I'm visiting an allotment friend who has a knee replacement this weekend and will encourage her about the (eventual) benefits. I plan to make a carrot cake this afternoon and then catch buses to my silversmithing class. Bangle-making tonight but as I never wear them I'll see if I can do something a bit different. That's today sorted. 🚀

(My son and I like beer Mick, particularly local real ale.)
